Abba Inn is located in a residential neighbourhood, but not far from the centre of St John's. Like most houses, you will have to walk uphill to get to it - if coming from the downtown. The house has three floors, with two guest rooms on each. Those in the front, particularly on floors 2 and 3, have lovely views over the rooftops and the harbour, but if you are a light sleeper, you might prefer one of the rooms at the back, as, with traditional wooden buildings, the sound-proofing is limited. The guesthouse is clean, warm and very comfortable. My room had a writing table and there was a good supply of towels. The heating is controlled from a thermostat switch, and is very responsive. The breakfast is, as advertised - continental, and there is a supply of teas and filter coffee. There are fruits (oranges and applies) cereals (but not museli or granola), yogurts, frozen blueberries, sliced bread and muffins.
The check-in system works well, but it wold have been nice to have some human contact - even just a courtesy 'hello' call from the personnel at some point. I stayed there nearly a week, and saw nobody - other than other guests. There are wooden steps up to the front door and steps leading to the kitchen / dining room. Steps may exclude people with restricted mobility.
Good central location. Clean and well maintained rooms.
Bed was too soft.
Bathroom too small. Just one little window and didn’t feel like I had enough space to put makeup vitamins etc
Clean & comfortable. Centrally located. Excellent selection on the continental breakfast.
Didn’t like that there were tip jars in the room & at the breakfast location. We did leave tips but didn’t like that it was so obvious, especially in the room. Lots of stairs to climb. No elevator.
Huge room with a lovely view, all day access to great little breakfast room for water, coffee and tea. The premises were charming and beautifully decorated and well-maintained. Delicious chocolate and blueberry muffins served every morning. Good value.
A newer more comfortable mattress would have made our stay perfect.
