Great location and overall vibe. Definitely value for money. The relationship with the restaurant next door for a breakfast discount was really nice, and much better than the breakfast buffets in most other motels.
The parking is a bit problematic at Ruby, particularly in the case of a spouse with mobility issues. I used the overflow parking at the nearby Ruby 2, so it ended up not being much of an inconvenience, and I found a place to park at Ruby the morning of checkout, with definitely made the loading process much easier. The guests in the room above ours were creating a hellacious ruckus from about 4 - 5:30AM, which really interfered with our sleep. This is certainly not the fault of the hotel and its staff, but it definitely detracted from our stay.
Finding the hotel and checking in was very easy. No issues with the room, bed, etc. There's no coffee pot in the room, but you can borrow one for free from the front desk.
The hotel's parking is only a few spaces and it's $5/night. However, Spokane's parking meters are free from 7PM to 8AM, and free all day on Sundays, so unless you're planning on staying at the hotel during the day there's really no need to use this. The walls are very thin, however. I could easily hear all my neighbors, including the people below me. The hotel has free ear plugs if you need it.
Friendly staff, closeness to the city, clean room.
The hotel was clean and comfortable. The location was excellent. I did not like the parking situation, I paid for parking and still found that I did not have a spot at the end of the day.
Breakfast place was ok. The service was ok but not great. The tables were not clean and I had to clean our table both days prior to sitting down. The food was good but expensive. Overall it was not good value.
Closeness to center
WAY TOO NOISY AND TRAINS ALL NIGHT.
