9.2 Excellent
Pros: The lounge with open bar (including alcoholic drinks), library, music room and terrace with amazing view, especially at sunset. Our comfort twin room was very large with a beautiful view, plenty of room amenities and very comfortable beds.
Cons: They advertise breakfast until 10am and last entry at 9:30am, but in reality they start cleaning up everything at 9:30, so be early! We were very disappointed by this. Arrived at 9:15 and only a few minutes after we sat down and had taken our first plate we were told buffet was gonna close. We were not told in advance and were charged the full price. Went to breakfast at 8am the next morning and that was a completely different (positive) experience, much better service as well.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: There are staffs who can speak fluent English and Chinese. Front and Hall staffs are extremely friendly. The sight from room or restaurants are beautiful. Hope to have chance to stay here again.
Cons: Amenities in bath room are a little bit old.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Staff were wonderful and friendly. Hotel had a lovely 1960s Eames vibe to it due to the recent renovation (complete with wood-panelled Listening Room!), with gorgeous gardens and the best guest lounge I've seen in years.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A great hotel in a beautiful location, 5-star facility and level-of-service. I've never seen anything like the view from the roof. I can understand why it would host Emperor Hirohito. The lounge was well-stocked, and everything was free. I wish the price weren't so high, we would have stayed longer and go back often.
Cons: The restaurant looked wonderful, but the prices were just too high, so we went out and found a nice izakaya in town for a great meal, and the owner was very friendly and informative about the town and its attractions.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good services by hotel staff
7.9 Good
Cons: Wifi quality is not good
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Although alot can be said about what a top quality hotel this is, from the comfortably clean rooms to its gorgeous location, the standout for us was the service extended by all staff members of the Hotel. No request was too small to accommodate and for that, a big thank you. We loved our stay.
Cons: Nothing.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable guest room and very generous supply of all day drinks and snacks for free.
Cons: No onsen. Dinner is very expensive.

Pros: The area is so big, many places to explore just staying at the resort itself. All areas / facilities well maintained and signposted. Hotel is so warm to provide torches and down jackets to go out at night, insect repellent for summer. What a nice touch! The lounge provides free drinks / cookies / books / music. Very nice resort make sure you stay at least two nights to have enough time to do everything.
Cons: The food is not the best compare with other hotel / resort of similar style, but there is nothing wrong.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice golf course n surrounding
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: The hotel is in a quiet area
Cons: Staff was incredibly rude especially in Japan, the hotel is far from everything. The hot spring / onsen area is very small. There is suppose to be a pool which we never find. Very poor stay. I would definitely not recommand
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The natural park is amazing! The swimming pool is also wonderful. The resort is really beautiful.
Cons: Nobody speaks english, that is quiet inconvenient. You have to pay extra for all the activities (ex: even ping pong) and they are pretty expensive. The view from the room was on the parking, which was not shown on the website.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Unlike any other hotels or ryokans we’ve stayed before—right by the ocean, the almost enclosed and calm water makes the place so memerable. The staffs were nice and the host speaks good English. The big bath is also located right by the sea and so you can enjoy an intact ocean view in a hot tub! The food was great, lots of seafood included in the menu. And our boy loved their pingpong table where he could play with his dad!
Cons: Don’t recall anything to complain. Oh, the small group of college students staying in the hotel were quite chatty (they were fishing) but thanks to them we could wake up as early as 5:30am and see the sunrise.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location, the building, the staff, the food, the bath. Nearly all.
Cons: None.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful hotel completely constructed entirely out of cedar wood, sitting on Ago Bay. Our roomed had a gorgeous wrap around porch overlooking the water. Beautiful tranquil views to wake up too. There was a separate sitting area, bedroom, and a loft, which we didn't need to use. Our room was above the onsen, which made it very convenient to use. Onsen facilities were very clean, and spacious. Food was delicious- we had a multi course dinner with local catches beautifully presented and prepared. Breakfast was equally elaborate and yummy. We loved playing ping pong in the outdoor den. Staff were beyond friendly and courteous. They made sure all our needs were met, and went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and fun. The owner and his wife are lovely- we went out on a boat ride one morning, and he was very engaging and informative about the local area. We totally relaxed and unwinded here. Also combined this with a visit to Hachiman Kamado Ama hut in Toba.
Cons: Nothing
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Taka and his wife were wonderful hosts going out of their way to make our stay memorable. Taka took us out on his boat around the bay and to visit his pearl fisherman friend at work. Quite amazing watching the process being done on a non commercial basis. The food was exceptional with nightly 8-9 course banquets. All represented fantastic value for money.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: owner, staff..
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Our family had a great weekend stay at Hiogiso. We were provided with pick up and drop off at the nearby station. Meals were exceptional and highlighted fresh local ingredients. The cypress bathes were refreshing and relaxing, also there was a massage chair to further unwind. The staff went above and beyond to ensure we had a comfortable stay! We bought some of the prepared seaweed to take home, which we have been enjoying since and each bite reminds us of our amazing time at Hiogiso.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful place, wonderful moment. Thank you to the staff for this two quiet days.

Overview Reviews

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Really scenic onsen - the property was large and had all kinds of facilities including an arcade! Rooms were large and clean and bed was comfy. They responded promptly to queries and even made note of the package we arranged to be delivered to the hotel so we didn't have to ask for it when we arrived.
Cons: Location-wise, the property was easy to find if you're driving or if you have opted to take their shuttle bus. However, do note that the nearest convenience store is at least 3km away so stock up if you have the habit of snacking at night. Although the hotel itself has a minimart of sorts, there is limited variety.
5.4 Okay
Pros: Great view
Cons: Too old, dirt on the furniture, stained sofas. Impossible to eat at the restaurant without a prepaid dinner !
9.6 Excellent

7.5 Good
Pros: Nice location if you like the sea; Sea view from the room; Good swimming pool for family, with fun water jets that kept ours happy.
Cons: Buffet dinner - the food was good but there was a rather limited range and it was over-priced; There's no bar at the hotel or anywhere in the immediate vicinity.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful property. We stayed in the cottage. It’s nice and quiet. Beautiful walk to the beach. Very nice swimming pull ,sauna. If you need massage, ask for Hiruko , ( facial , and body massage are amazing) Highly recommend this hotel!
7.9 Good
Pros: stunning sea and island view
Cons: rather remote, far from town
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The astronaut telescope really cool !
6.3 Good
Pros: Staff was very helpful to take care of the problems we reported, including moving us to a maisonette room from the cottage we originally booked free of charge, despite the room being more expensive. The food was good and the hotel Wifi was stable. Staff was friendly with the children. The hotel offers a nice view from the upper floors. The astronomical observatory was nice but the tour guide spoke no English.
Cons: Initially, we reserved a cottage but we found the cleanliness lacking, the interior and equipment dated and a general impression of poor maintenance. The toilet smelled. The air conditioning didn’t work very well. Beds were small. Upon reporting this to the front desk, they moved us to a maisonette room in the main building. This was a lot better though the sofa beds were not very comfortable. After waking up in the morning, we found a dead cockroach on the floor which had not been there the day before. There is no hotel bar to get a drink and the hotel is also far from the nearest town so for going out, you really need a car. Staff speaks no English apart from a few standard words like “thank you”. Food in the restaurant is good but is overpriced.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The location was beautiful , the rental of the bicycles was easy, and the staff were very helpful.
Cons: Regarding the pools, nothing was very deep or cold . All of the pools were as warm as a bath.
7.1 Good
Pros: Telescope, scenic location
Cons: Loooooong walk to pool and onsen check-in, and looooooong cold walk from there to the pool.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Lots of things to do, lots of places to visit around. Room was great. Delicious beef and sashimi at the dinner.
Cons: Disappointed with the breakfast; few choices, lots of egg varieties, lots of pork varieties, no cheese&bread option, veeery few cakes.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: cottage is beautiful
Cons: far from station but there is a pick up service from station
8.8 Excellent
Pros: I liked everything. It was my first time to visit Mie with my family. There were two adults and 6 kids traveling together. Originally, one cottage and one bedroom were reserved. The cottage did not have any view so I requested for a different room with sea view. They immediately checked and moved us to the room that accommodates two adults and three kids with a beautiful sea view. The onsen was great and the kids enjoyed swimming pool for two days in a row. I would definitely like to stay at this hotel when we visit Mie again.
Cons: We missed a chance to look at beautiful starts through an astronomical telescope. They were only open from 7 PM to 9 PM. It would be nice if they can extend the opening hour till 11 PM since people usually visit there for their holidays.

6.7 Good
Pros: Hotel is nice, Looks modern but they ruined it with smoking allowance- even thought I have booked non smoking room you could smell from long above this stinky old smoky smell ( I am a smoker but don’t like it).
