Very modern hotel. Ideally located in the center of town. The metro is just out the front door, it literally runs under the hotel. No need to even cross the street. Very reasonable $$. The girls at the front desk speak NO english, but we still got by. Install a Mandarin Translator app on your phone B4 leaving home. NO Google in China!
Not much..love the place
The room was nice enough. Good toilet shower facilities.
Bed was uncomfortable. WiFi wouldn't work on my phone.
The room's space was well used. Sufficient plugs. Clean and comfortable. Very good bang for buck as Shanghai goes.
The main issue was check in. We handed over passports and then some other guest walked up and demanded a receipt. The woman who was checking us in decided to help her instead, while we stood there and waited. From there, our check in took ages, with her asking for our phone numbers and all sorts of information we never need to give. A metro line also runs under the hotel, which can be a bit noisy during operational hours
Location is good
Wifi signal is very poor
Good things: - the rooms and lobby are well renovated and clean - water pressure and temperature were great - wifi is fairly good - subway station and family Mart are steps from the hotel entrance - the housekeeping staff is very nice - the location is great
Overall, I would not recommend this hotel to a friend 1) My room has smelled of cigarette smoke on and off throughout my 3 days in this hotel. When I complained, the front desk told me to just leave the window open, despite the 42F weather. I did so because I had no choice and they offered no other alternative, but it did little to relieve the smell. I believe the smoke is coming from an adjoining room due to poor construction. And because of that, I had to deal with a cold room and traffic noise (the hotel is on a major street) all night. My clothing and other belongings now reek of cigarette smoke and I developed several migraines from the smell. 2) Several times each night, a man walks down the hallways and slides small cards containing pornographic images and phone numbers for prostitutes underneath the room doors. By the end of my stay, I had amassed 8 of these. This is wholly inappropriate and it's shocking that the security is so poor that he can just walk in at any time (the door to the fire stair is always left open and does not require card access). Some other, lesser complaints are: the chair in my room was stained, the front desk does not speak English (you have to use an app to communicate), and the hallways are quite old and dirty.
The hotel is located on the intersection of South Xizang Rd. and Dalin Rd. in the Huangpu District. It enjoys advantageous location with easy access to scenic spots of The Bund, Huaihai Road, Big World, Nanjing Road Pedestrian etc. (14 RMB by taxi/10 minutes by subway). It is the best choice for business, tour and holiday with full facilities nearby.
