Drop off was a breeze. Location and shuttle was great too. It would be so helpful if the company would just inform people of the extra charges ahead of time so they don’t have so many angry people at pick up feeing like they are getting lied to. There’s mandatory collision and liability insurance that are additional daily fees and you can only get them through their company. There’s daily extra driver fees, roadside, and they didn’t even give us a car that was comparable to the one we thought we were getting. Explaining all this ahead of time so there aren’t any surprises upon arrival would be so much better for customers. The “total” upon reserving online is never the case. It’s really another $500 on top of that. Just say so instead having hidden fees.

Staff was helpful drop off was easy.Insurance is not included in the Kayak quote, and is required for Mexico. This add $200 to a $260 rental. Also the cars were not the same as what was listed on Kayak.

Mandatory insurance and other fees took my quoted price from $155.95 to $371.74. That's more than double the price I was told in Kayak. I don't think I'll be back.

The shuttle to and from airportPrices!!! I had a quote for $15 total rental and $11 for insurance. When I got there insurance was $30 a day. Very unsatisfied

Staff was very friendly, car was new and clean.Transparency into the insurance coverage. I reserved online thinking my car would've been $45 for the whole rental only to find out it was double the price with bare bones coverage. Better coverage would've cost $200, but my credit card covered it, thankfully. Would rather know real price up front.

Enterprise Rental in CaboClean, relatively new car. Good price with advertised special though insurance bumped it up quite a bit.The rental company facilities are a bit down the road so you have to get their shuttle. This would be no problem excepting for the "sharks" waiting in the lobby who insist that you will need one of their guys to take you to the office. Ignore them, convincing as they are, and get the official shuttle.

Pick up was okay. Drop off was terrible. There was no shuttle to the airport. Staff was very rude and unhelpful about getting to the airport. Eventually we were taken to the airport in the same car rented to us in two trips. Then was charged more than the amount on the rental contract to my credit card.

The staff was unhelpful and unfriendly,Kayak and Economy Car Rental should fully disclose the legal requirements for renting a car in Mexico. We were unable to decline the insurance even though we had the option to decline it online. The agent was rude and unhelpful.

The car was OK, had to jump it once because it couldn't stand the radio on and the car was very weak and sounded like it had some transmission problems. But it did it's job, can't expect much from a RenaultI made the reservation for $70 for all 5 days, thought it was a great rate. When we got there they said there was a mandatory insurance that jumped the price to OVER $250 for 5 days. Why are we booking at such a low rate and believe that is the TOTAL price as the website says then figure out we need to pay 4x the price at the spot. Then I extended for another 2 days and it was over $120 for the 2 days. Super misleading and that is definitely Kayak's fault for quoting such low rates, I wish they would honor the rate that I was quoted before I made my way to Mexico and got ripped off because I needed a car. Literally everyone was complaining about the huge insurance rates at the store.

nothingEverything. I reserved a Jeep Wrangler for a quoted price of $44.60/day. When I arrived they told me they don't even have any Jeeps, instead they would rent me a Renault for $107/day. It is completely unacceptable that they chose not to honor the reservation and tried to charge me extra for an inferior vehicle.

Grossly overpriced, Using Uber 2-3 times/day would have been much less expensive, and much more convenient. In addition, Budget substantial "daily" insurance fee, which was not disclosed at the time I made the booking. This part is completely unacceptable.

There was nothing to like about this experience other than the friendliness of the shuttle driver and desk associate.The car we received was old and dirty. The steering wheel was peeling and the one headlight wasn’t working. Also, the rear hatch would shake and make noise uncontrollably when driving on the highway. Terrible reventar experience.

Insurance is a scam. I have coverage through my credit card however they claimed I needed to present WRITTEN evidence of coverage in Mexico or would have to pay for their insurance. This was never disclosed in advance via reservation or when I called Budget to confirm reservation and any special insurance requirements.

Having the vehicle I reserved. I reserved a SUV and when I arrived at 3:30 they only had 2 vehicles available (compacts) , I refused to accept either one and had to wait and hour for the next suitable vehicle a full size sedan to be returned, fueled and cleaned. Budget and I was lucky that I didn’t slice open the oil pan or dropped the transmission on the rutted and rocky dirt roads to my destination of Cerritos Beach north of Cabo. That office needs more inventory of vehicles with basic safety features like back up camera, blind spot warning or any sensors period not available on even their premium vehicles. Then replace some of the indifferent and drag-*ss employees who contributed to the hour long wait!

The car was new and comfortable and clean.Beware of Budget trying to steal your money! They bait & switched us and in the mountains of paperwork we signed had us sign for an amount we didn’t agree upon and our rental went from $130 to $788! We felt scammed.

A little bit of the Mexican ShuffleEasy pick up close-by nice new carsI call it the Mexico Shuffle because it always seems It's a bait and switch I am now a custom too this business practice Obviously when I rented the car through kayak it was $5 per day not even a Mexico can you get a car for $5 a day I knew that they were going to sell me a damage waiver the know where on the website could I find that information I actually called the location and got the exact price per day which was $35 plus the $5 as advertised so is about $40 per day for a midsize SUV which are required for off road dirt road travel Just to be fair all the car companies seem to do that even if I tell him I did not want to damage waiver that American Express credit card covers me and my automobile insurance covers rental cars and in fact my homeowner's policy has a line item in it for Rental Car Coverage which is rather minimal but it is there

Bait and switchThe car, while it was a new car, still was not the car that we reserved. We reserved a Nissan Maxima for 4 adults and got a KIA SorentoThis was my first use of the Kayak site and we reserved a car for a week out of Cabo. The car was not what I ordered (a smaller KIA instead of a Nissan). The real problem was that as soon as I reserved it, I received an email from an insurance company, Allianz, that offered to sell me insurance. I purchased the insurance, but ACE rental would not recognize that insurance. I had to purchase another insurance policy through them at 3 times the price or not get the car.

Misrepresentation of Rental Costs; Vehicle Not as RepresentedNot much. Starting with the (initial) airport shuttle ("Ace badged"), which delivered me to a 35 minute wait, at the (wrong) office. Once we took (other) shuttle, I was offered a Kia "Forte"(instead of the VW Jetta-Full Size or "similar"). My reservation stated Then, instead of the $30.69USD, that my reservation stated, I was given a choice of $180.69USD (with a $2500.00USD "Hold", and final charge on my credit card), or $215.51USD, for an $800.00 "Hold", and final charge on my credit card.I did not appreciate the disorganization, the need to go to (2) different office locations, the waiting in line (at each of those offices), for a total of 50 minutes, the type of car that I was rented, (i.e.smaller than the car class that I reserved), or the ("Surprise!!!") additional charges that were somehow acceptable, and explained by, the "Terms and Conditions". While "Additional Charges may apply for required insurance, when the "required insurance" is 6 times the cost of the rental, something is wrong.

Mini van was clean, and everything worked well on it.The price given on Kayak for renting a mini van from Ace for a week in Cabo San Lucas was about $140. All other mini van rentals listed on Kayak were $400-$450 a week. When we got to Ace to pick up the mini van, they said that the $140 price doesn't include taxes, fees, etc, and those brought the price up to $424 for the week. So they ended up being the same price as the other car rental companies. It's a tricky way to get people to choose them.

you better buy the insuranceThe office was clean and the car was cheap.The ACE representatives take a long time to check you in and out and it is very unclear what insurance options you need. I was under the impression that my credit card provided me insurance so declined all insurance despite the ACE representatives advising to get the full insurance coverage. Just to put it into perspective the rental was $50 without insurance and $200 with full insurance - so a 4x difference. On the highway back to return the rental car I got a flat tire which I fixed myself. When I returned the care the ACE representatives charged me $330 additional for the flat tire and dirt marks on the car. I had no choice to accept because they had a $2,500 deposit and I was late to catch my flight. I would not rent from ACE again.

Be warned about their insurance policy! I had to pay quite a lot, additionally, for full coverage that was unexpected. If you book through kayak, make sure you understand their policies before you arrive.

Upon return, they refused to release the hold on the credit card, saying that one of the headrests was missing. Also, there was a missing plastic cover in the passengers foot well that they want to charge me for. At check-in, they seemed very relaxed about the condition of the vehicle. Document!

Not the greatest experience.The car itself was clean and functioned as expected.I show up to Pueblo Bonito Rose on the date I scheduled my rental pick-up (the date and location had already been pre-selected) and the hotel concierge tells me that Avis is closed on Sundays. Why did the website allow me to schedule the pickup on this date? Pueblo Bonito was nice enough to call Avis' other location nearby and I spoke with Avis on the phone, they sent a guy with my rental. He said he'd be there in 10 minutes, that was a lie, I waited at least half an hour. They provide a wifi box which is kinda neat, but the guy gave it to me without a charging cable and I wasn't able to charge it, so this was only useful on the first drive, after the first day of using it, it died and was useless. He told me upfront that there was no charging cable, so I was aware of this and said ok. When I returned the car at SJD Airport, Avis asks me where the cable is. I said you guys gave me the wifi box without one. They said that because there weren't any notations of the missing cable that they would have to charge me, at this point I was pretty upset. I'm just trying to drop of my car so we can catch our flight back home and now this nonsense. Long story short I spoke with the manager and flat out told them, "no, I'm not paying for a cable that we were never provided with which made this wifi box useful for only one trip" I didn't end up having to pay for the cable but then I got screwed on having to pay for a full tank of gas when I only used 1/4 of the tank, so I might as well have paid for the stupid cable. Avis never once told me anything about extra charges for gas, I guess this can be assumed but being that this was in Mexico and the first time I rent a car there, I didn't assume the rules were the same. I would've put a few bucks worth of gas to replenish the tank had i known I was going to have to pay the full price of a tank. Terrible experience!

Perfectly good rental, but agents are too aggressive selling insuranceThey really try hard to push you on buying the insurance. In fact, they mislead you to the point of pushing outright fabrication (lying) that you are legally obligated to purchase insurance from them (which is not true.) This caused picking up the car to take far longer than it should, as when I got the contract, they had added insurance that I had not asked for, and I had to have them correct it, and go through the whole process again.

Location was near the airport.Car was advertised as $94 for a week. I was forced (not asked) to pay for extra "mandatory" insurance of $16/day. This increased the total to $204. I was told by the representative at National Car Rental at the Cabo San Lucas airport that I could not rent the car unless I paid the extra insurance fee and that it was Mandatory. None of that information was on the site where I made a reservation. I believe the representative gave me false information and I'm going to report it to the Washington Post travel section. I took pictures of the agreement I had to sign.

The more you know...The price I saw on my online booking! $10/day for a 2016 Chevy Malibu! Returning the car was quick and easy!The ACTUAL price I had to pay when I arrived because Mexican law requires the purchase of some Mandatory 3rd-Party Liability insurance which added 200% to the price of my daily rental. An additional $20/day. Customers should really be informed about this in advancen, as this can easily be taken into consideration during the online booking process. Also, my Emerald Club number was not connected to my reservation and I really had to negotiate HARD with the agent to get them to add it to my account. Was there an option to do this during the reservation? I don't recall. As a frequent National/Emerald user this was disappointing. Finally, clearing Mexican customs & immigration was less hassle, paperwork and time consuming than renting a car which I would have found hilarious if it wasn't so annoying. Would give 0 stars if I could! Also, the shuttle bus from the terminal has back doors for a reason. The staff should f***ing use them instead of piling everyone in the side, then cramming the luggage in so all the passengers are stick inside. Let the people go in and out the back DUHHHH!!! Okay... rant finished, but seriously those are legitimate points!

Long waits to get vehicle. We waited about an hour to get our vehicle and there were only 3 people in front of us. They attempted to charge us for a scratch on the vehicle but we took photos of all the original scratches.

Car was excellent as was service.I chose Payless because of price. Supposedly $175 for a weekly rental. That they agreed was the confirmed price. When I declined the insurance as I always do, since I have insurance on my credit card, I was told they would only allow this if I could produce a letter proving I had insurance from the credit card company. Or I could bring it later to one of their offices. Since I didn't have access to a printer this was not possible. Payless then charged an additional $18/day or $125 for the week for "insurance". This essentially doubled the cost. I have rented from Fiesta in downtown San Jose before at a much cheaper price. We only chose Payless since we arrived with heavy suitcases and wanted a rental car from the Los Cable airport. We won't be renting from Payless again.

3 dollars per day is a hoaxI rented a Jetta for 3 usd per day, but it turned ou that third party insurance ( basic by the way) is 33 usd per day. I think this is how they get you yo rent with them and then hike up the price. Also I came with the tank half full and they were charging me 70 usd to fill it up. In MEXICO that translates to 3.5 times the cost of gas. I took it myself given the price.

That is over double the cost!!!then the car maxes noises and had a service light. My husband spent over an hour at local office in Adan Jose only to have employees refuse to swap car out! Be aware that although they tell you total cost in Cabo that in NOt true!!! Nothing you can do once there with three children:-(

Booked 10 months in advance for standard SUV. The offered me a compact SUV for 4 people with luggage, golf clubs etc. NOT. To get larger vehicle had to upgrade . Then their mandatory insurance and taxes are ridiculous! Original rental should have been about $2000 but ended up over $4200. Of course no one else had other vehicles available so force to rent it. NEVER rent from Hertz in Cabo unless you wish to get screwed big time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nothing!Not given someone else our reservation since we were not there on time. My SUV was given away to someone else because we did not get there at 12:00pm. Our copilot had a family emergency he Of course had to leave and we were held back for two hours. Needless to say I brought all my family (6 people) and the lady said, “Your car was given to someone else because you weren’t here by 12:00pm. Sorry.” And they did not accommodate us to anything else because they were out of SUV’s. She also said since I reserved it but didn’t pay for it they gave it away. I was so upset. Moral of the story being extra cash because we had to pay triple of what I had reserved my car or just pay the reservation online.

Shuttle brought us to the rental car area with 10-15 companies all located in a complex. No one was at Dollar. We walked around for a bit and the office was closed, no cars around. The staff was friendly and not bad at all.Well they tell you online that’s it’s like $3.50 a day for the rental but in Mexico (where insurance) is quite important they charge you 50-90$ a day for insurance.

The car did not break down.Car was extremely dirty. Virtually no attempt at cleaning it. Smell of urine throughout car was unbearable. Service at the counter was decent but there should be a warning that the insurance they require in Mexico more than doubles the cost of the rental. Will not rent from this Dollar location again.

Cheated US on taxes for liability insuranceThey gave us an outrageous price for liability insurance (told My girlfriend who rented the same day she had a special of $70 for the week, while we were charged $25 per day over 7 days. We're told that was the least amount of liability insurance under Mexican law and the cheapest. Bologna!! Won't trustndillar again.

Prepare to pay for mandatory insurance when renting a car in Mexico.Drop off was very simple and clear cut. Price was as expected.Pickup was slow, but I think it is because people do not understand mexican insurance. Maybe you could do a better job of making that information available when people book cars. My car was listed at $12 for the week and ended up $189 for the week with full insurance. I knew it would not be $12, that's insane to think that will be the cost. I was actually pleased with the final cost , less than I expected. People renting for the fist time i Mexico are not prepared.

Be prepared to haggle over the cost of the insuranThe cost of the rental car was something like $5 a day, but the insurance is where they get you.Basically traded away 3 hours of our vacation time to have breakfast and get full coverage insurance for the week. They quoted us over $500 for the insurance, if we wanted to pay it out of pocket.

The car worked fine, and pick up and drop off (at the airport in Cabo) was easy.The cost--$390 for one week--is excessive. I have never paid that much for a rental car before, either in Europe or America. I understand that Mexico has strict rules concerning insurance coverage, and that's fine. I was perfectly willing to pay extra for the required insurance. But this seemed to be well over what is reasonable.

Tried to steal from me.We ended up not needing such a big car, so we asked for a smaller rental, going from a minivan to a standard. The representative refused to give us a price for the smaller car. He wouldn't call anyone, and he wouldn't check his books. The counter person did EVERYTHING to get us in the van, so he could take us to the off site rental agency, and then we would be trapped at his rental agency. He was a scammer, and an embarrassment to Dollar Rental Car. We went to the counter two stands over, and got an extremely fair price, and rented it on the spot. Again, Dollar cannot control their desk in Mexico. I am extremely unhappy with Dollar, and will bring this up to my corporate officer in charge of rentals.

Our flight was delayed so instead of picking up the car at noon, we arrived at 1:30, and were informed that our car had been “given away” and there were no cars for us to rent. The dude basically just shrugged and said there was nothing he could do to help when we asked what we were supposed to do without a car. We then had to scramble to rent with another company (and of course, same day reservations are more expensive.) We provided our flight info on the rental reservation, so it was easy to see that we were delayed. (Also, 90 minutes late seems like an extremely short window to assume someone isn’t picking up their rental regardless.) The whole thing felt like some kind of weird scam because the other rental car vendors at the airport descended on us and tried to get us to rent a car at an insane rate (one woman quote me $150 per day. I went online and got a reservation for $150 for 4 days.) it was super frustrating and unnecessarily stressful. I will definitely never rent from Sixt ever again, and will actively encourage friends and family to avoid them. Still trying to figure out how to get the insurance refunded..

good price, the staff tries to push insurance but I didn't take it. Transport to and from the airport was easy.the car had a cracked windshield and many scratches and only 1/4 of a tank of gas and then wouldn't give us a new one.

Even though I already had an 11-day reservation and insurance covered by my own personal policy, they tried forcing me to either accept a $2000 deposit taken on my card or scam me into getting their insurance which was twice the amount per day of the rental itself. Given those choices, I refused the rental altogether and made alternate arrangements.

Picking up the car was a very long process. Has to endure the sales of signing up for presentation to reduce the price of the local insurance .... $425/week for a minimum coverage!!! .... although it seemed to be negotiable. Apparently you reserve the car at a low rate and pay a high local insurance at check out!!

They put a hold onto my visa for 14,000usd for insurance reasons. The car was returned and the hold removed but they charged my visa 14,000usd at an exchange rate that was not good. Then they instantly refunded my 14,000usd same day all after I returned the car. I lost over $1000 Canadian in that transaction that should have only been a hold and my card never charged. I can’t get ahold of the Europe car Mexico and I have emailed europcar and am waiting for a reply. I also sent all my forms to QEEQ for a dispute. Please help me get my $1000can dollars back.

A brand new Kia did a great job. Yet high insurance charge was not communicated when booking. Extra gas charge was made on drop off without communication, while returning gas was the same level as picked up.

drop off was easy and when shuttle was going late, the guy offered to drive me to terminal, but then the shuttle showed up.1. They forced me to buy the more expensive insurance. They wouldn't rent the car unless I did. Another lady refused and they let her go, so my rental ended up costing 3x. 2. It took forever to get the car because they kept forcing the up-sell, while the family was waiting. It felt like a mafia run rental agency. 3. The car didn't have a front license plate and instead had this big piece of paper pasted to front windshield that obstructed passenger view.

Terrible service! They said it was mandatory to buy their insurance and that my card wasn’t enough. I asked Juan (supervisor) to show me where in their policy it stated this and he went to reach for it but then he said that the paperwork was moved by someone and he couldn’t show me. The folder with all their company policies was right in front of us but he refused to open it and show me. A total scam by these workers there!! I rented with Ace and they didn’t force anything on me 3 days before. Terrible customer service! Never rent here again!

I never got the car, they tried to get me for more money when I arrived. I have rented several times and used third party insurance to cover the car. They insisted that the purchased insurance would not cover anything, they really tried to scam me. They started quoting insurance in the excess of $1300 until I was fed up with their approach and they tried to offer me coverage for$100 walking out the door. Internationally I will rent from My resorts from this point forward!!!! Word to the wise! Had I not rented before I probably would have believed them like I seen many others do!

They didn't communicate price very well. We were originally told $25-30 per day when we called them. When we got there it was almost twice that, plus they wanted a $500 deposit they didn't tell us about. They ended up giving us the car for close to what they originally said plus a $300 depositCommunicate pricing more clearly from the start next time and mention the deposit. I also blame kayak for not posting pricing through the app. It originally said our trip would cost $4, which obviously isn't accurate. Have baseline pricing quoted at the very least including insurance.

We had a mechanical breakdown 70km from the rental location. Checkin was tedious with many forms and contract pages to read if one was fluent in Spanish and had an extra hour, staff was completely unhelpful and said we were “on our own” because we made a short trip on a sand road which was stated not to do, but we didn’t see this disclaimer in the contract. NO NELP AT ALL is what they told us. We managed to have a very helpful local get the car started again some problem in the system which staff of this company said was completely and totally our problem to fix. We did with the local and got back to Cabo after being stranded for 5 hours. Car did not start again and we contacted the agency who again said it was our fault and responsibility. Had another mechanic come to the hotel in the morning and managed to get it started (no promise if it would start again) and drove to airport, leaving car running while filling up the gas, and returned it. Agency stated we would be billed for this repair. Cheap agency that overcharged for insurance, had a car with 64000km, bald tires, damaged interior a/c controls and management with attitude! Strongly suggest NOT USING THIS AGENCY Routes or sister company. We won’t use this again! Very displeased to say the least!!!

They forced me to buy regular Liability Insurance (not SLI) for 20 dollars per day. This is supposed to be included in the car rental price as per car rental regulations in Mexico.You can add SLI if you want more coverage. I initially refused to pay so they would not rent me the car. I went to Budget car rental down the street and they verified the car rental fee includes the basic Liability Insurance as required by law. Of course Budget would rent me a car but at “walk-in” prices which was substantially more than the on-line deal I was supposed to get at Routes. So, I returned to Routes, told them what Budget said and they said I still had to buy Liability Insurance which I had to do. My opinion is Routes is a sham company in business to extort travelers illegally and should be shut down. I will be challenging the MasterCard charge for the car rental. Ken Burger

Was nobody in the office when we got there, things were pretty unorganized in the office, insurance was very expensive and confusing, car was fine and ran well. In the end they kept our deposit and said they couldn't find it was over $400!

There is a reason this shows up as the cheapest rate when you search via the internet. What they don't mention is the required mexican tax liabilty insurance that for us was DOUBLE the car rental rate. Everyone at Thrifty rental was furious in line at this hidden fee. Staff was rude, lines were long. Myself, husband and four kids had to wait over an hour for a DIRTY car that was way smaller than what I reserved. Never again.Honest upfront pricing!

Thrifty used the opportunity of a flat tire (on their car) to gouge meI rented a car from Thrifty recently in San Jose del Cabo. When I received the car, I was told that it was a brand new car and they quickly hustled me through the inspection process. While I was there, they tried extraordinarily hard to sell me on full coverage insurance. While I was driving the car on the highway (going more than 100 kph), the car experienced a flat tire (right passenger side front tire). It was extremely dangerous and I was able to cross the median and move to the frontage road to change the tire. When I returned the car, I was told that there were minor “scrapes” on the underside of the car and that the tire was damaged (although, there was no apparent visual evidence of damage to the tire). I was charged $US 85 for the scrapes and WAS ASKED TO PAY FOR THE FLAT TIRE ($US 50) !!! To say that I am surprised that I was asked to pay for a wear and tear item and then asked to pay for “scrapes” that may or may not have been there when I rented the vehicle (way up UNDER the front of the bumper) or could have happened when the tire went flat and I had to exit the highway in an umarked spot may be an understatement. I believe that Thrifty is not actually in the rental car business – but rather the insurance scam business. It is clear that the business model is to get people in with low rates, try and upgrade their insurance, and then charge them for faulty equipment all the while claiming ignorance.

Car was tiny. It was clean and economical on gas but very small. The Agency tried to charge $2500 on my credit card and when I refused they lowered it to $500 but raised the rate by $30. I expected to pay $20/day insurance over the $3/date rental but they charged over $30/day. I know it is the Mexican rip-off.

ScamNothing.We showed up with a reservation costing us $141. They told us we'd have to purchase insurance there(we expected this due to Mexico law) with full insurance it was going to be $650. Too much. We asked about just liability, and they told us we could but it would be a $2000 hold on our card. After arguing with them, one guy leaned over and told us he'd be willing to work it out to be $371 if we gave him $60 in cash, which was obviously for him. Totally a scam, so we took our business somewhere else. We ended up with Budget and they were totally legit!

Never rent from Firefly (aka Hurtz). Our total on pick up was TWICE as much as the price quoted with our reservation, and they call a Nissan Kicks (small cross over model) a full size SUV - barely fit 3 people comfortably. Two thumbs down, don’t be a sucker and rent from Firefly.

Nothing - the car reservation wasn’t honored - please contact me as very unhappy as had to spend an additional 200 dollars to find a car last minute. Relied on kayak to deliver but instead got the opposite - a major penalty and lots over an hour looking for a car.

The staff was friendly and drop off was quick and easy.There needs to be more information for future customers on additional fees NOT mentioned in the advertising when booking a rental car in Mexico. Although my credit card covers collision, it did not cover liability in Mexico. It was not known to me and to other customers to my left and my right at the counter, while I was working on getting the contract worked out. The daily advertised prices are steep and will cut into peoples budget. I understand that I have to play the game, but it is very disappointing that I find this out at the counter and not before.

The staff was super awesome and friendly, wait time was insanely ridiculous- we waited over three hours from the time we got dropped off by the shuttle until we we drove out. I’ve rented cars in other countries and this one by far one of the slowest processes ever. And remember the price kayak quotes is just for the car-not for everything else they throw in at the counter. My price on kayak was $188 and I ended up paying $572 all said and done. In the end it was kinda worth it all.

The overall experience was horrible. I booked the car for $284 when we arrived to pick up the car they tried to charge us $1,200. They said we had to have full coverage on the car and could not take it unless we paid full coverage. Everyone that was trying to pick up their cars was experiencing the same thing. They were trying to raise the price on everyone, then saying there was a $600 cancellation fee, and saying you could not opt out of insurance and that the lowest daily price was $88 per DAY! We finally talked them down to $545 for full coverage and the car. Once we returned the car we signed off on a contract for $545 when I checked my credit card they charged me almost $700. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM THEY ARE SCAMMERS!!!!

Friendly staff. Ease of drop-off and pickup.I was given an estimated price of $105 USD on my reservation. When I arrived to rent the car I had the choice of an ADDITIONAL $170-$250 or having an $18,000 USD hold on my card with no insurance. This was misleading and frustrating. I want to reiterate how great the staff at Firefly were.

Car had mismatched tires, cv joint was going, ac fan screaming, missing trim...you get the idea...run away
