We would stay again
It was cozy, and the distance to buses was nice. The price for the hotel valet was comparable to other overnight parking, and upon noticing that I was pregnant, the hotel staff put a majestic baby onsie in our room which I thought was very sweet.
The shower had very low water pressure and the bed wasn't super comfortable. Other than that, we had a great stay
Pricey for its worth
The bed was comfortable and the old school feel
It is an old hotel in need of upgrades, Overpriced because of the conference I was out, 30 mins from Moscone center.
Facility problems
Could be a nice place, but shower did not work at all.
Throwback hotel
Very artistic
No airconditioning There is only one elevator. Can get busy.
I really like the old-time feel of the building and it has been very well maintained. The office staff were kind and helpful.
Really impressed
Loved it, can't wait to go back
The hotel was alright
The decor was magnificent. Only problem was in the bathroom the shower was either too hot or too cold. The temperature is difficult to control. Also, they don't offer complimentary breakfast that you would get at a normal hotel. Plus the parking fee was $35/night which was definitely out of our budget. It was convient in location because it's only about 15 mins from fisherman's wharf and 10 mins from Chinatown. I would say my experience was alright with the hotel but I wouldn't stay at this hotel again.
Rooms were clean and staff was helpfull. Reminded me of a quaint European hotel
Staff was disorganized, restaurant was expensive, no air condition.
Nice stay
How unique it is...
Rooms small but well organized and works.
Old style Art Deco
Furniture, decoration and bath tub old style . very comfortable in general. The lobby, bar and restaurant beautiful !
Some more maintenance in room, one curtain not working properly, one light not working, fridge a bit noisy and one spider in one corner of the ceiling
the late check in at 3pm. it would b nice to see that info somewhere. i could have missed it though. Earlier check in would b nice. Otherwise nice place.
Good appearance and style
Small room for the money and no AC.
available street parking, in a neighborhood I like.
it was a convenient location for my stay in SF, a few block away from a conference at a nearby hotel. Easy to get to from Van Ness. Good, inexpensive restaurants close by.
A bit musty smelling. Lack of insulation-windows were single paned. Not too bad as it wasn't winter yet...
It is a historic hotel with Edwardian touches such as claw feet bathtubs in some rooms, fitted with brass showers. Other rooms have modern showers. The rooms are comfortable and welcoming. I recommend top floor rooms if possible because of the bay windows. We stayed during a warm but not hot October so air conditioning wasn't an issue. It was reasonably quiet but close to bus and cable car routes so getting around was easy. There are also a number of good restaurants within a few blocks which can be reached by bus from almost outside the door.
We were disappointed to find that breakfast wasn't available on certain days of the week.
The location was good and we like the idea of an older elegant hotel.
Very run down, window weights gone, windows didn't stay up. Torn fabric on couch, two bulbs out on ceiling light, carpeting worn & dirty, no one explained free WIFI. Air conditioning should be available if windows don't stay open.
I liked the location, staff, breakfast, shower, comfort.
There was a "little mouldy smell" in our room.
the location, the rooms (bed and pillows and nice ventilated bathroom), the staff was very nice, good breakfast.
The resturant was incredable and the rooms very welcoming. Would like to see the bar open for the morning bloody mary'S.
Issue I had with the hotel was, we stayed 3 nights @175 for 2 nights and 195 for the third night, which we booked with an outside site but called the hotel directly to change dates and confrim rates. My friends check in early and had a resv for a stantard room at 160 night and rather than wait to the check in time they recieved the exact jr suite that we recieve at 160.hotel did nothing for us
Good location, friendly service, nice interior
Wi-Fi was working only in the lobby and only off hours you could get connected in the room.
The atmosphere - like being in some historical movie
No restaurants really close to the hotel, breakfast good but choice very limited
the staff, really superb. Super nice and helpful. Its easy to say this, but I travle 75% of my time and its really not like this usually. I refer to all the staff as well, even the guy carrying the electric drill, who helped me with directions. Well done!
room could have done with freshening up a little bit. WiFi was fairly terrible. More flip flop than a VW full of surfers.
