Great Value
This hotel was a great value for San Francisco. All the other hotels in the same price range had frightening reviews. My boyfriend and I were comfortable throughout our stay.
Most reviewers mention that the rooms are small, but that wasn't so bothersome, as we literally were in the hotel just to sleep and shower. We would have liked if there were a small mini fridge (for leftovers and drinks) and a dresser, though.
Edwardian
The staff was great. Recommended a nice dinner and breakfast spot for us. Very welcoming and the atmosphere was very relaxing.
Showers had low water pressure. But other than that, everything was great.
Great staff, rooms a little basic
Really friendly, helpful front desk staff. My room was very clean and comfortable.
The window was only single glazed and overlooked Market Street, so it was a little noisy. Hanging space was also very limited.
Great boutique hotel in the heart of San Francisco
Really pleased to stay at this boutique hotel right in the heart of the city. The location was great for getting to SOMA and the Castro. The room was cute. The staff was particularly great. Both Darren and Ellen were so friendly and helpful. This was a much better option than the Travelodge where I originally planned to stay. I stayed another day the following weekend because the place was so charming.
There was a bit of road noise from being right on Market, but hey, you're right on Market. It was a bit hot which is rarity in San Francisco. Air condition could have been nice but I understand why the room didn't have it since hot days are so rare. These are really minor things you might experience with any hotel in the area
Cleanliness of room and friendliness of staff
Size of the room- too small
Clean, awesome service, great value
The hotel's in a pretty good location with good access to public transportation. I was able to get around using buses, BART and the trolley out front no problem. It might not be the nicest part of town but it wasn't bad. I didn't feel unsafe at any point in the immediate vicinity. There were homeless around but I saw that in lots of parts of the city. When I got to my room, I was glad to see that it was spotless and bright. It was a very basic room but had everything I needed, with a couple nice little touches. The bathroom I had was large and clean with a jacuzzi tub (that I felt too bad to use... signs about a CA water shortage all around town). Bed was comfortable. The service at the front desk really made it stand out though. Ellen was incredibly pleasant and helpful and it made all the difference in my trip, honestly. She had spot-on recommendations and took the time to get a feel for what you might like. It was a little bit like having a friend in the city to help you get acclimated. I'm sure she wouldn't bother you if you're just looking for a place to stay, though. For what I paid, I'd definitely consider staying again on my next trip to the city.
They give you a key to the front door that's $200 if you lose it and have to get it replaced! That was definitely an extra stress I didn't want to worry about on my trip. They need a light near the bathroom mirror. It was hard to see my face for shaving so I was pretty worried I had missed a spot. The road noise was a little annoying, but tolerable. I came in November, so maybe they just hadn't turned on the heat yet, but my room was pretty darn cold in the morning. It was fine for the rest of the day and at night though.
The central location which had a lot of boutique shops surrounding it
The staff didn't answer the phone when we were drivingaround to find the hotel, the rooms were bare bones with no amenities whatsoever, the parking is a slightly discounted lot about a block away ($15 a day)
Everything was perfect. Very clean, super friendly and helpful staff, also great location!
No complaints.
We liked the bed and the bathroom. It was kind of small but understandable in San Francisco. The neighborhood was very nice and there were plenty of places nearby that were reasonable to eat at. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
We had paid extra for a street-view room but did not get it. Instead we got free parking so, we didn't ask for a change.
