Perfect location, just few min walk trough tunnel and you are in old city centre. Clean rooms.
We rented two rooms , 808 and 809. Stay away from room 808, bathroom is in bad shape needs updating but it was clean. Room 809 was ok.
We booked this hotel very last minute during the Holidays (right before New Year's Eve) as part of a road trip through Austria. Salzburg barely had any availability left at a reasonable price; we were thus very happy to find this hotel. Its location is very ideal when visiting Salzburg; it is right by the entrance of a tunnel leading to Salzburg's historical centre, with a dedicated pedestrian path. It takes a grand total of 5 minutes to get to the historical centre from the hotel! Being so close made it very easy to navigate the city. The room itself was spacious enough, and clean. There are elevators, which are very convenient for luggage. Wifi was decent. There is a parking, which you should reserve and comes at an additional cost. Very convenient when you are on a road trip! For the purpose of the trip, it was good value for money, and if the same circumstances were to arise, we would probably book again, given the convenience of the location. I would however look for decently priced and located alternatives first.
I had a classical room, which was a little dated and bare. Watermarks and rust on the walls in the bathroom. It does seem that they were in the process of renovating rooms, as my sister had a superior room and the flooring had been changed and bathroom updated. We could hear most of what was going on in the adjacent room, as well as the hallways. Temperature is centrally controlled and too hot for our taste; we were able to open a window, without too much noise coming from the parking lot, so that was a plus. The pillows were extremely thin and uncomfortable; we called down to get some extra ones and were told that the hotel was full, and that they even had to borrow some pillows from other hotels to make sure they had enough. I have to say, we were not expecting that answer! We were given extra sheets which we folded as a pillow. The staff usually seemed displeased with responding to requests, although I did have one staff help me find pain killers late at night one day, and I greatly appreciated it!
Breakfast is good Staff very helpful Location is good, there is a road up to the cliff just around the corner.
Facilities are from 90's. I was really surprised and disappointed to see such old bathroom equipment. Cupboards are huge and useless. HVAC was better. not worth >300 EUR we paid for two nights.
Open buff breakfast a little expensive but good
The hotel does not meet the 4 stars sooner on, I would give it 2 stars. The staff is not at all polite, especially at the front desk. We were in a car, they did not really care where we were going to park, there were no seats. The breakfast is too expensive for 15 € per person. For those who do not want to talk, there is no mini bar, no air conditioners, the pillows are soft, the walls are dirty, the furniture is old, the bathroom has broken tiles. The only thing I like is the location of the hotel, close to the old town.
