Comfortable, great location
Great location, very clean and comfortable beds.
The night receptionist could have smiled. She was polite but not friendly.
Exceptional
Charming property, superb location
Very good
The settings in old Roman church, lovely to eat there and very cool in the hit summer heat.
Great stylish hotel in a great historical and central location. Great food also Recommend!
Excellent hotel, good value for...
The rooms are facing a cathedral, what is lovely. We also booked the breakfast, lot to choose and very fresh.
They dont have a parking spot by the hotel. There are plenty of parking spots in the area but you still need to pay for it.
Fantastic Location
Fantastic location literally in front of the cathedral. Beautiful city with lots of bars, restaurants and shops all within easy walking distance. Nice air conditioned room with comfortable bed and powerful shower. Wonderful views from our room.
Parking was very difficult. WiFi was painfully slow and unreliable. Disappointed not to be able to get a drink from the bar at 9pm.
Do NOT stay in this...
Location is the ONLY good thing about this hotel. I can think of anything else that I liked.
Where to begin? Let's start with check-in. We enter the hotel and the woman at the front desk does not even look up at us, just says "I need your name and passport." This was the most unfriendly and rude check-in process that I have ever encountered. She then gave us our keys, but did not tell us where our room is. She gave us no other information, not even when check out is or where breakfast is. We then enter our room and it was what you pay for. However, there were disgusting stains all over the bed, we didn't sleep with any sheets because of how gross this was. We somehow manage to fall asleep but then are woken up throughout the night from other guests opening and closing their doors. You can hear EVERYTHING! It was also so lovely to be woken up at 8am by the cleaning staff rearranging the furniture of the room next to ours. We check out as soon as possible to get out of there and what do you know, it's the same woman at the front desk. But she is on her cell phone taking a personal call. She does not even look up at us, just points where to put the keys. Does not even say goodbye or thank you for your stay. Nothing. Do NOT stay in this hotel, you will regret it.
Stop Over
Lovely looking property and good location.
Great experience.
Great location and value for money, clean bedrooms.
enjoyable
the bar in the patio
welcome desk people could have been more welcoming
Exceptional
Position, and the originality to be in a church ruins. Bed as well were good
Nothing
Aged space
Hard to park.
Facilities were great travelling with the family, however didn’t benefit from all hotel facilities due to restricted offering during the pandemic
The facilities
the room and bathroom were clean, spacious and all newly renovated, the view from the room was beautiful, location was great (walked everywhere I needed). The building itself was gorgeous too.
- WiFi was quite slow - breakfast was good with plenty of stuff for me to eat, but all yogurt flavours were sweetened (even the natural), not suitable for my keto diet
Location!
A bit run down...

A bit run down...
Very nice location, nice personal and overall treatment. Recommended. If I will come back to Salamanca, I will probably book in this hotel again! Super clean room, super comfortable bed and nice breakfast.
Wifi was a bit shaky sometimes... and I guess this depended on how many people were using the wifi. For example, once -- it was early evening -- internet was not working properly.. but later in the same eve -- around midnight or later -- it start going super perfectly. [It was not a big problem and I would still recommend this place... just saying if somebody for work needs very fast internet]
Excellent location!!!
Nothing
Breakast was ok, the staff at breakfast very nice, but please get rid of the paper table cloth! It makes the restaurant look like a cheap cantina! Daytime staff in reception was excellent
Some sort of information / service with a smile would have been appreciated in the restaurant in the evening.
Location and value for money
Excellent location
No tea or coffee in room
Great Location. Close to many eateries. and interesting places.
room very clean and the bed comfy and large. The breakfast was good, plenty to eat, not huge number of options and if you come late in the time window some items were not replenished.
it was characterless and without personal touch. very utilitarian. The front desk was always unattended and the staff there unfriendly and unapproachable.
Lovely hotel walking distance to centre very nice room lovely warm stayed January it was very cold outdoors but super warm in hotel definitely stay again
The hotel is excellent and the staff very helpful. The gentleman behind the bar was superb. Very professional, kind and positive. A credit to the hotel. Please thank him.ll
No parking or coffee machine in room
Clean rooms no frills but perfect location.
Extra charge for bfast _€9
Excelent location. Very clean.
Made a reservation for 5 adults and one child (10 yo) in two rooms. Upon arrival I am informed that the child would have to share the existing beds with the parents or, if I wanted na extra bed, I would have to pay €22,00/night more. The recepcionist was quite unpolite and tried to show me that this was a condition of the reservation. Nevertheless, I could not find it writen anywhere in my booking.com confirmation. The child slept with the parents as they did not provide the extra bed, even if the reservation had no information on this matter. Will not repeat this hotel as I do not like to be misleaded what I felt, for the first time since I use booking.com for many years.
We really liked the location
We didn't like the noise of the cleaning staff from 8 at the morning
The hotel, the building, the place, then enviroment are amazing, I loved it so much. The hotel is built over some ruins of a medieval church and makes it so special; you´ll have also amazing views to the Cathedral and the place is really well located. The room is quite big, bed really comfortable, big bathroom also, really good food (enjoyed the daily menu).
We stayed in January and, for some reason, the room was sooo hot, no way to make it fresher. The air conditioning system is quite old, and would blow hot air no matter you would set it to "cool" or to "hot", or whatever temperature you would set that little wheel. Opening the window to make it fresher is neither the best way, having in mind that in the night you just want to sleep, outside is below zero, and for you´re 10 months baby big changes of temperature aren´t very healthy... As I said before, I loved the building the place, the enviroment, the big room, but this issue with the room temperature and air conditioning just destroyed the experience. I wouldn´t stay as long they keep this old air conditioning system or heating...
Very comfortable bed. nice spacious room. Good bathroom. Room with a beautiful view. Close to all interesting sites.
Very bad WiFi connection. Thin walls. I could hear everything from the room next door. Breakfast a little ordinary.
The view was unreal
We opted for the suite as we are a family of four and it was new year. We wanted it to be a bit of a treat. There was a smell of urine the moment we left the elevator on our floor. It only got worse as we approached our suite. The smell in the suite was terrible. And the bathroom not brilliantly clean. We spoke to staff 3 times about the smell and just got a shrugged shoulders each time. Spoke to someone again on check-out. And the same response. A shrugged shoulder!!
Fantastic location (view on the cathedral from the room), really nice hotel, excellent value for money.
No tea or coffee facility.
amazing hotel on a great location. great room with very big beds. great view on the cathedral.very helpful staff.
the Wifi was slow and bad
Excellent hotel; helpful; outstanding location
Good value for money, the room was quite clean.
the room was freezing when we entered, the staff had left the window open and we got in late at night. Facilities were a little old. No parking on premises.
Nice view of the Cathedral from our room
No cool aircon! We had to open the window, but noisy from people yelling in the street below a night. Only provided 1 room key for 2 guests. We wanted to check out the night before as we were leaving early the next day, but the evening staff at reception refused to do it and insisted we do it in the morning. Also, she was not very helpful and not receptive when we asked for a packed breakfast due to our early departure and it was included in price.
Good position for exploring old town.
Nothing.
Location was good. Room was clean. Very good choice for the price...
No own parking. Small bed. (But still comfortable)
I liked the fruit, pastires and coffee at breakfast. Very nice and helpful staff , especially the gentleman on reception and the gentleman in charge of the restaurant the evening we dined.
The bed and pillows could have been a little softer, everything else was great.
Great location, comfy bed, good breakfast and good value
Air con blowing cold air
The location
Great place with fantastic views, I came here for a break with my girlfriend but we did not get much sleep the cleaners were banging doors at 07.30 lots of noise, I wouldnt stay here again.
The location and the view from the 4th floor was simply stunning
The breakfast was avo
Position to river walk access as well as town.
Nil
Good location
WIFI signal was poor or non-existent
Location was just perfect!!!
Very noisy, windows just did not seem to work properly as you could hear a lot of buses and tourists as they were just down the corridor. Breakfast limited
The hotel was easy to find and park to check-in. The location was convenient to all tourist attractions. The breakfast was good and the waitress was very cheerful.
The grumpy male receptionist was most unwelcoming. No hello and no information regarding our stay. His directions to the car parking were very vague. The room he directed us to was unmade and when we returned and told him this it was like he didn’t believe us. We also found it quite noisy on the first floor.
Very close to everything in Salamanca. Good food available at the restaurant. Great service at the bar.
Nice room and brilliant location
Breakfast was disappointing
Except a bit cold in the night, the rests are perfect.
Cold in the night.
Close proximity to old city
Fabulous hotel in a great location 5 mins from all the bars , but also had its own bar too. Breakfast was superb
Location was fantastic & very clean.
The reception staff were a bit miserable. The bar was closed when we got back at 11.30pm Normally the reception or night porter can open the bar. All we wanted was a night cap.
Location - next to old city walls.
BEWARE: this hotel rents out it's courtyard to large very noisy parties with loud music. Sleep is impossible even with fully closed windows (noise is deafening). I complained to reception several times, they kept saying the party will soon stop, but noise continued on till 1 AM.
Friendly staff
No on site parking
location to the old city & sights was fantastic
Location was excellent
Perfect in every possible way. Close enough to the centre but nice and quite. Rooms, clean and comfortable. Found free parking across the road!
Views and location are amazing. Very pretty interior in the hallways, restaurant etc..
Found the bed a little firm but otherwise clean. Pillows very soft.
Location Was great right in the middle of where you need to be. The price was good for the quality. Staff was very friendly. It was clean.
The outside looks better than the inside. Free parking not so ez to find close to the hotel.
With view on the cathedral, very nice! Personal was very nice. Beds were comfortable and room was quite. All perfect and we suggest this hotel for anyone that want to visit Salamanca, be close to the city without the need of any car. Parking was close by in public street and for free.
There is really nothing that comes to my mind on a negative side. Perhaps a suggestion to put a waterboiler in the room for making a fast coffee or tee cup.
View from room.
Could have been told about hotel facilities etc on arrival. May be a language barrier as I speak no Spanish!!
The lunches were excellent and the staff, especially in the restaurante, were amazing! Also, we really liked the location as it was strategically close to the historic centre, but, further from the busier spots with crowds of people. Lastly, it was a nice touch to be staying where there are still the ruins of a former church. Wifi was good too (worked and decent speed).
Everything else. The desk manager was exceptional!! We were a group of 3 travelling on motorcycles. One of us left his bag containing his money, credit cards and passport on floor outside the hotel. Within 10 minutes I had a phone call saying it had been handed in. Phew! Avoided a much longer return to collect. THANK YOU.
Breakfast was a challenge. The restaurant/bar manager was unhelpful and grumpy. However the other guests helped and showed where the food and coffee was.

Excellent breakfast, very clean, perfect location.
The beds were horrendous and poor quality. Extremely uncomfortable. Our rooms smelt very badly of cigarette smoke despite supposedly being non-smoking. Pictures on the web didn’t represent the rooms we were given. Very noisy on level 1 opposite stairwell to reception.
Lovely hotel,position excellent
Right at the heart of city; nice views from rooms (ours was on third floor).
The male staff at the reception in the morning was very inconsiderate and rude. The hotel is located just off the main road so was a little noisy late night/early morning. We asked if they have any quiet rooms available just in case some rooms facing away from the main road, the male receptionist shrugged off and very casually said that 'noisy' is a very subjective term and it was not at all noisy for him. That was outrageous! Por favor, please learn some courtesy how to reply to guests.
The San Polo was excellent and really well located. It was very good value and the rooms were spacious and very clean. I would recommend them to anyone staying in Salamanca.
We stayed here before, and liked it so much we booked it again. It is not as luxurious as some hotels, but is in a very convenient location with breathtaking views. (The attached picture was taken from our window.). It is a short walk to Plaza Mayor, the university, and the cathedral. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The rates are also very reasonable.
The room was a little small, but adequate for our needs. An updated bathroom with a walk-in shower would have been nice.
The location was perfect. We only stayed one night as we were going down south. We didn't arrive until late so we still managed to visit the cathedral. Will definitely be coming back and staying for longer
No on site parking but they let us park the motor bike straight outside the front door
We’ve stayed here before and liked it.
Unfortunately I made a non refundable booking for the wrong date; we tried to change the date but there was no availability so I suggested that the hotel give me a credit I could use when in Salamanca in November but no go there.
Location - by the river, opposite cathedral and five minutes to the Plaza Mayor.
Noisy at night but to be expected in university town and by main road.
Location was great, place was clean, staff was helpful. They recommended a local parking with hotel discount that worked out great.
Beds were typical of most in Spain, pretty thin and hard. They had a sign that if the guest brought food into the room the guest was responsible for disinfection costs. If they have bugs, newly carried in food wouldn't cause them. Luckily I did not see any bugs, maybe it is just a rouse to drum up business for their restaurant.
Central and modern
Terrible internet at times unusable
Hotel is in a great location. Not far to walk into the centre of Town. Very good breakfast.
Nothing
Gorgeous location and lovely building.
We arrived at 2am with two small children and the man that “greeted” us took a while to tell us where we could park, he finally said he found us a space but we would need to tip him or “give him some Euro” for the space... he then insisted in getting into the car with my partner to take him to said space! We said we had no change and did not tip him. Heard nothing more about it. Morning staff were pleasant.
Great value for money and excellent location. Lady on reception gave us excellent tips for restaurants. The room was a little dates and scuff marks on walls but overall comfortable stay for one night.
We requested a double bed and got two singles. Not a huge issue for us though.
Great location with nice people. 10 minute walk to the Plaza mayor so close to historic sites and the river. Good breakfast too. Traffic was a bit noisy but with the window closed it was fine. We
Traffic noise.
Evetthing.

Reception was excellent and friendly like
Liked everything
The accommodation was superb, we were allocated a top floor suite with huge balcony right next to the stunning Cathedral which was floodlit at night.
Bar closed on our arrival evening, but I managed to persuade the bar person to sell me a bottle of wine to consume on our roof top balcony.
Good hotel, spacious room and bathroom, views.
Perfect location! Comfortable bed.
Staff doesn’t really make you feel welcome, really had to insist with big smiles to get some back. WiFi only ok in reception aria. Continental breakfast ok but coffee was limited. I guess it is good value for money but don’t expect more.
Really great location and view! The room was big and comfortable. Near to the city, the river and also a beautiful Hotel.
Great location and value for money
The location is good - also the facilities are pretty, the room as clean.
The check-out is at 12pm and we wanted to have a lie in until 10pm or so to sleep a bit longer which was impossible with the sound and noise the cleaners were making. Impossible to sleep after a certain time.
Location was excellent
Air conditioning did not work at any time for two different rooms, even though maintenance had been notified four different times!
Loved the view from our room . Loved the location. Good breakfast
Great location - I could see the cathedral from my room. I was surprised at how reasonable the price was for a four star hotel. I thought I'd misbooked when I got there because a I rarely stay somewhere so upmarket!
The evening meal I had there was a bit disappointing (but I did go for the cheap options!)
Hotel rooms with view of the Cathedral!! 8-10 mins walk from most prominent structures and tourist spots
amazing view! loved it!
Location was amazing. Easy walking distance to the major sites. Room had a spectacular view of the Basilica.
Needed to ask for towels after the room was cleaned, but the staff replied quickly.
Loved the location which was opposite the ancient wall of the old city and easy walking distance to Placa Mayor, cathedral and numerous museums. Hotel San Polo has part of the ruins of an ancient church within its terrace . Most atmospheric for drinks in summer after dark.
Tea and coffee making facilities and complementary water.
Close to all the sights. Parking nearby
The wi fi was not very reliable. No tea making facilities in the room.
Very good location near the historic center.
Parking is a mess.
Hotel is well located very closed to City Center. Very kind staff always willing to help. Breakfast is good and cleanliness excellent.
The room was small but very clean, quiet and bright with a beautiful view of Salamanca. The bed was very comfortable. The location is perfect, just outside the historic center, it is just a short and beautiful walk to reach the Plaza Mayor.
Little bit harder time with parking.
Location, view on the Cathedral from room
Forbidden to bring food in the rooms with threat of 200euro fine for disinfection purposes.
Location is excellent. Staff friendly and efficient. Excellent breakfast.
Located in Salamanca (Old Town Salamanca), San Polo is within a 10-minute walk of University of Salamanca and Plaza Mayor. Featured amenities include a business center, complimentary newspapers in the lobby, and a 24-hour front desk.
