Location is great.
Ridiculous bathroom layout: full-size bidet near the toilet and 4sq ft shower with tiny curtain. Horrible matress, wobbly window with no daylight
The staff were very friendly and helpful :-) For a 1* hotel, it exceeded our expectations. The room and bathroom was spotless. Fresh sheets and towels were provided each day! The location is perfect for anyone wanting to visit the main attractions of Rome by foot. The Trevi Fountain was a 15m walk, Colosseum 20m and Rome Termini station was just at the bottom of the road - which we used to get to The Vatican (about 6 stops and you get off at Ottaviano - super quick to get to.) There is a supermarket downstairs and also, a Cafe that does English breakfasts, pastries etc. Would recommend to anyone who wants to see Rome on a budget. :-)
You couldnt stay out between the hours Of 2-6 am, but it wasn’t a big deal for us as the staff had no problem leaving us in once we buzzed. If you get a double bed - it’s 2 single ones pushed together!
Excellent location and friendly staff
Hotel Giugiu is a family-run hotel. I like the special and almost familial accommodation that is warm, thoughtful, helpful and friendly. Specifically I'm touched by the kindness of G, who I believe manages the hotel. Right from day one, he realized the challenges I may deal with, just on the language barrier alone, so he was quick to provide some helpful suggestions on my itinerary, reasonability of prices of goods/services, reminded me to be aware of my surroundings as I go out, etc.. He has a genuine caring and easy personality. He even lent me an extension cord and plug/converters for my electronic gadgets, and re-heated my leftover pizza! Such personalized, almost familial attention cannot be compared with other hotels. The family members are very respectful. One of the top reasons I like with Giugiu hotel is its location: walking distance to Termini station and various attractions, shops, restaurants, bike rental, money changer, pharmacy and almost everything else that a foreigner would find very helpful and convenient. On my 4th day, I ago about almost feeling like a local, due to proximity of various points of interests. Because the hotel is just about 5 minutes walk to Termini station, I was emboldened to catch the train to Florence the next day when Rome was supposed to have a heavy rainfall. It added to another great adventure on an already amazing trip! I also felt relaxed catching the train back to the airport, as I strolled the day before my departure date at the Termini station taking note of how I'd proceed the next day. The hotel itself is clean, quiet, and decent. The wi-fi signal is strong. For the cheap price, it is a bargain. Not sure about other amenities, but some of the hotel guests celebrated a birthday party at another function room, which they obviously arranged with management. Overall, my stay at Hotel Giugiu contributed greatly to the memorable and amazing experience I had on my trip to Rome...and Florence!
Very cheap- staff were friendly enough
Room smelled a little weird, only one outlet in room and it was in inconvenient place. Shared bathroom could only fit one person at a time
