We were upgraded to a room with a private pool which was fabulous. The hotel was very clean and beautiful. The pool area and the pool itself was gorgeous.
The breakfast wasn’t great and we only ate at the pool bar once and didn’t like the food. The room was gorgeous but if you get a room with a private pool- be aware that there’s no balcony to sit outside in the evening.
The location is fine: close to the Capital and other POIs. The property is well maintained, the staff are friendly. The main area has 2 large pools. The suites at the Adults only area are great: with a separate reception, large pool, nice restaurant, very quiet. From what we saw in our opinion it's one of the best hotels is that part of the Island.
The gym is small and lacks some machines The main pool area is a bit overcrowded but it's understandable and acceptable at the high season, not really a problem.
Room was amazing and clean, extremely spacious and the air-con was immense!! It was hot asf outside and our room stayed cold!!, pool was cleaned regularly and the cleaning service were extremely attentive and nice. Fresh bottles of water and towels everyday. Mini fridge worked perfectly and even had enough to make a couple small cocktails. Our room was a middle floor room with our own private little pool we were really impressed. The extra cost for a swim up/private pool are definitely worth it, with myself struggling to wake up early in the morning a quick jump into the pool sorted me right out, super refreshing. The main-pool was honestly amazing, super refreshing and with no children causing havoc it was fun and relaxing. Although if you do just want to lay in the shade all day, get down early because people love to take all those sun-beds fast. No issue for us though the ones directly in the sun for the most hours were perfect for us. Even though the beach is pebbled its relaxing and does got sandy a few meters into the sea. Entertainment at the hotel-id say little to none, or it was just bad when we were there, there was this terrible DJ one night who even got annoyed that everyone was bored and he told them to get off their phones, hahaha, we laughed! All in all we would probably would stay here again. If the food was as amazing as claimed and expected from a 5* Hotel there would be a 100% chance wed be rebooking, but seriously the food is below even an average standard in all restaurants, and needs serious review and change.
Only issues we could find were with the food in all the restaurants with the hotel...first, the private hotel for the suite guests at the alizonian, it claims to be high standards but coming from me and my partner who both work within mid-high end restaurants bars and hotels and have done for years. In the risk of sounding pretentious, Its just not good enough. The menu was random, basic and honestly just bland with no skill or finesse gone into the dishes, there was a dish a shrimp mouse with cheap prawn crackers which had some random blue splats that tasted of nothing, honestly whoever allowed that dish on the menu should be fired. The rest was honestly 3/4 out of 10 max. Some general cleanliness as well, putting cutlery from used tables just back in the draw, i even tested this by using a knife, and placing it back on my napkin, it then got cleared by a waitress and got put straight back with ‘clean’ cutlery, nasty!!!! The second restaurant the one specialising in sea food (Degu7) seriously lacks any form of atmosphere, its just in a random room, it doesn’t feel like a fine dining restaurant, more like someones dingy back rooms they set up to serve food randomly, and they put it all together in a few hours. The food was again, basic, effort had gone into presentation and ingredients, but again it lacked flavour a-lot of flavour!!!!, and finesse of high cost ingredients, overcooked fish and octopus, soggy skin on sea-bass i expected a lot better, an average chain restaurant from the UK produces better tasting food. Id say don’t even waste your time booking a table here, just leave the hotel and find a local good sea food restaurant that knows what they are doing and really care about food, even if it takes a short taxi ride. The Vis a Vis main restaurant is just a buffet, better than the other two because the food menu changes every night the rest are the same every night.
all perfect !!!will back again
The suites with private pool was luxurious and worth the little extra.
Area around hotel a little run down. The main hotel pool crowded during the day.
