The day-to-day staff was amazing. Ana at the front desk couldn't have been more helpful during check in/out. The entire staff at the main pool bar were a blast! The hostess at Thalassa recognized us after only 2 meals. Small things like that mean so much. I also love that there's a pillow menu. Not everyone has the same needs when it comes to sleeping and they recognize that. Finally, they made sure the guests felt as though they were royalty.
There was a real lack of communication between the hotel and the guests when it came to the constant changes that were occurring. Children were brought over with no advance warning or notice and it soured my mood even further. I was trying to keep my head up in spite of everything that was happening in the world but screaming babies and unruly children were not at all what I had signed up for. Restaurants and services were unavailable to us but we didn't know unless we attempted to acquire it. We were given a notice that we needed to leave under advisement from the US government immediately, but no options were offered regarding the fact that we were leaving early. Overall, it was a disappointing end to what was supposed to be a dream trip to celebrate my milestone birthday. The decline was rapid and disheartening. Also, the mattress is pretty terrible.
1. We liked that the staff were polite and helpful. 2. The number of restaurants available to choose from. 3. Big property nice for walks 4. There was a clinic in the property - Dr. greatly helped me get the right medications from the city
1. The beach was disappointing - expected a nicer set up by the beach and cleaner beach. 2. The service was VERY slow - especially house keeping. 3. The quality of food in some restaurant was average - expected better 4. Vibe not so live - mostly old couples
Room was a nice size and food was good. Pool near the beach was nice and the beach was fantastic.
Although the room was large it did have a musty smell which could have come from the air conditioning and water in shower puddled at the opposite end from the drain.
Unforgettable - that's the first thing that comes to mind. Everything was perfect and we enjoyed literally every minute of our stay. Highly recommended and we will definitely return there ♥️
Absolutely nothing - it was all perfect!
Beautiful place, beautiful ppl and good food!!!
I loved everything
The Catalonia Royal Bavaro takes its adult-only status seriously and caters to romantic couples. Travelers can expect topless sunbathing on the beach, a la carte restaurants, and most surprisingly, a quiet and relaxed atmosphere.
Catalonia Royal Bavaro sits right on its own stretch of beach close to Punta Cana airport. Most couples who travel here are perfectly happy at the all-inclusive resort, its beach, and its sister property's amenities. For those who want a taste of local culture, a car or cab can take them to explore outside the Catalonia bubble.
The small stretch of beach reserved for Catalonia Royal is a five-minute walk from the hotel lobby and pools. A section of beach screened off by hedges is available for private events and water sports, including kayaks and catamarans, are conveniently located at the border of the Royal beaches. Aside from the marvelous beaches, the hotel also offers two pools, a small spa, and a small gym, and a piano bar in the lobby. Guests can also walk through the hotel to a nine-hole golf course. In addition, there are many more activities and amenities at the Catalonia Bavaro Beach next door.
The hotel offers proper sit-down restaurants for all three meals, plus 24-hour room service, snacks at the beach, and plenty more restaurants at Catalonia Bavaro Beach. All meals at the main restaurant, Thalassa, are included in the normal all-inclusive package.
Rooms are spacious and clearly designed for couples with two-person whirlpools near king sized beds and showers without doors. Rooms also come with stocked minibars, terraces with views but not of the beach. Upgraded Junior Suite Deluxe Rooms are larger and closer to the beach.
