Pros:Close to many public transit lines inc max train, dining, shopping, Hollywood Theatre. A great jumping off point esp for those interested in the culturally rich eastern half of Portland. This is a budget offering, a motor lodge with two stories facing out onto a parking lot; no elevator to upper level. Needs a renovation but a stone bargain in the meantime. I'd return and stay again on a similar trip.
Cons:Offered early pre-2pm check in for an additional $20; unyielding on this point. To stroll the neighborhood, had to leave my bag outside the reception counter and was worried it might have been stolen. Tired furnishings but everything worked that needed to. Labyrinth of streets/crosswalks to get to the place.

Pros:The room I stayed in was recently remodeled. The bathroom has tiled floor/shower surround and the fixtures are modern and clean. The room features new everything including a big flat screen TV. I don't know if all the rooms had been updated, but mine was as good as I'd expect from a chain hotel for 1/2 the cost. The place has been in a year long remodel with the lobby/front desk still a work in progress. The location is very convenient to the Hollywood district attractions. Although it's location is in a little bit sketchy block, I didn't feel uncomfortable walking there at night. Bus service is 3 blocks away and the train station is a 10 minute stroll. The redline train Eastbound is a 21 minute ride right to PDX airport. All trains Westbound head to downtown and beyond.
Cons:No concierge service, no free continental breakfast, but for the money I saved, I could treat myself to a real meal at one of the several local restaurants and have money left for entertainment. Though the motel area was free of panhandlers, the Hollywood district has an abundance of them. Though not anywhere near as bad as downtown Portland, in the 2 days I was there, I was approached over 15 times by folks asking for money. No one was super aggressive about it, but it's rather sad how Portland (especially downtown) has gone downhill.

Pros:Location was pretty good. We were able to walk to 7 breweries.
Cons:Room smelled like cigarette smoke, cigarette burns and rips in the blankets, only a small garbage can in the bathroom, there wasn't one in the room. Just a shabby looking place. Probably one of the worst motels I've ever stayed in.

Pros:The location was convenient and felt safe.
Cons:The room was dirty. The hot water was inconsistent. Sometimes it was lukewarm at best.

Pros:The room was clean and nice, and the maid staff was friendly. The location was close to downtown and the freeways, and the surrounding area was fun to explore too.
Cons:One of the washing machines was broken, but I just used the other one, and they were under construction at the time which was unsightly, but obvi that's just temporary.
