Great family trip!
We booked the family concierge master suite bedroom for our family, we travelled with a 2 and a 6 year old. We had a fantastic week! The staff was phenomenal, specially our concierge, Mario. They were all very attentive to our needs and helped us plan our vacation. Mario even helped us get some medications we forgot from outside the hotel. Having whattsapp on your cell phone is a must to better communicate with the concierge. The food was great! We liked most Fuego, but also greatly enjoyed Mole and Bana. We had the tasting menu at Passion. Even though this restaurant is not part of the all-inclusive it is reasonable priced and the food is fantastic and the staff very attentive. The beach can have some small rocks here and there and there is an area that is corded off because of large rocks, but there is plenty of sandy beach to go around, didn’t feel beach shoes were necessary at all. They do a great job of cleaning out the sea weed that forms sometimes throughout the year. Learn to use the Hobit catamaran early, it is great fun. The tennis pros are also quite knowledgeable, you can book them for a lesson if you are a tennis fan as myself [for a fee]. Our 2 and 6 year old also had a great time. The hotel has quite a few activities planned for the younger ones throughout the day and there is the option of droping your kids off for a while [you can also hire a nanny] but we didn’t use either of these options, however we did take them to some of the activities ourselves [treasure hunt, face painting, euro bungy, sand castle]. The family night shows are very good too, we specially liked the “noche de los muertos” celebration, the “divas” and “Michael Jackson”. You can also access all the restaurants and facilites of the adults-only Paradisus La Perla which is next to the Esmeralda, walking distance. Would definitely repeat the experience sometime in the future.
Some of the room furnishings had wear and tear, nothing major.
With direct access to the beach, this Playa del Carmen resort is next to a golf course and within a 15-minute walk of Punta Esmeralda Beach, Guadalupe Church, and Quinta Avenida. Mamitas Beach Club and Playa del Carmen Main Beach are also within 2 mi (3 km).
