Location was great, the hotel staff was friendly. The hotel was also clean and smelled great.
The studio suite was small and had an open bath, which I knew about. What I wasn't expecting was the semi-private toilet room that's only separated by a partial glass door. Basically, you can speak with whoever is in there while laying in the bed fifteen feet away. Not very well thought out, particularly given the fact that the name of the studio suite on their website is Studio Suite - Romance. No bell service or valet was also not ideal.
Food was great in the resturant! Better than expected. The staff was very friendly and upbeat, offering to help at every opportunity.
The refurbishment was done very well.
Lovely Anniversary
I sought a boutique hotel that catered to mostly adults to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. My husband are local to the LA area and familiar with Pasadena, but wanted to escape overnight. We had plans for a fine dinner at Ruth Chris, and dancing after with the Pasadena Ballroom Dance Association. The hotel was perfectly situated for both of these plans and the rest of Old Town was well within reach. We like modern, chic places, and have stayed at such in NYC, Las Vegas and DTLA. Hotel Constance was on par with all of those, if, perhaps, lacking a pool, and a bit more vibrantly populated bar and dining area. Loved the styling, the in room amenities, the quiet of the room itself, and the location for our chosen activities-everything was in walking distance, which added to the romance. A very creative place, staff were cheerful, helpful and engaging. Would certainly make another "staycation" plan based from this hotel.
We were only on an overnight, and we did not have a need to use our car. $25 for overnight valet was a pretty stiff charge. We probably could have parked elsewhere for less, but it was offset some by the cute electric shuttle, and the ride we received within an easy radius of the hotel.
I liked it. I'd stay here again
One of the few things that makes business travel bearable is finding unusual hotels in attractive locations at reasonable prices. The dusitD2 Hotel Constance is just such a find. Stayed for 1 night on business with 2 colleagues. It's a lovely old building with very extensive recent remodeling. The room, though small, was very thoughtfully laid out with no bathroom wall, but frosted glass doors separating the shower and toilet, tasteful mirroring, two large windows and furniture that made the room seem larger than its square footage. Unlike the lobby, the styling of the room and hallways really works. This does not look like your standard chain hotel. I particularly appreciated the multiple touch pads on the walls to control lighting, heat and air, as well as the bedside tablet also with lighting and hvac controls and helpful information, such as weather. Bed, linens, pillows, two robes all high quality and quite comfortable. Large flat screen TV, Keurig coffee maker, free wifi, mini fridge, small but workable closet - just don't bring a lot of clothes on hangars.. My room facing the courtyard and next door construction was quiet and private. Use of plantation shutters rather than curtains contributed to the sense of spaciousness, kept out unwanted light and served to dull outside noises. Breakfast in the dining room was pretty good and reasonably priced. All staff were friendly and helpful.
The lobby and restaurant seem "over styled" for my taste. The old Spanish Revival character of the lobby has been sacrificed to a swoopy, white/gold/shocking blue aesthetic that is neither welcoming nor particularly attractive. There is no pool and I did not see an exercise room, but I didn't look, either. Parking was expensive at $25/night. If I had to do a lot of business out of a hotel room, I would not stay here. The open bathroom design would not work well if you are sharing a room with anyone other than an intimate. The desk is small and the desk chair just marginally comfortable.
Fantastic staff
The staff were fantastic: very friendly and they went out of their way to make my stay comfortable. The room was clean and nicely appointed. The in-hotel food was great too. The location is good for CalTech, less than a mile to walk in. I have the impression that the hotel's rate is normally over the GSA limit but this time -- thankfully -- it was not.
There's really nothing I didn't like. No microwave but you really don't need one in this location (downtown Pasadena); there are restaurants everywhere.
In love with the hotel!
How modern it was.
Parking was a bit pricey.
Love the bathtub and heated toilet seat. King size bed so comfortable.
The cost of the deposit and hold on the room was over $600!!!
Good location for Pasadena
Bath tub spa. Toilet. Big TV
Keurig cups, water bottles, and toiletries were not restocked on regular basis. Studio still felt small.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The design was fun but also honored the history of the hotel. Great location.
No pool but they are going to have a roof top pool at the end of phase 2/ the end of 2016.
Perfect
The room was spacious, modern, luxurious and clean. The bed was comfortable with good sheets and pillows. The bathroom was gorgeous tile with a really nice showerhead and good lighting. The air/heat was easy to control, the fridge/coffee maker were great and the electronics charging was a great bonus. Front desk staff and valet were really friendly.
Have a less expensive self-parking option.
Loved it
Super cute boutique hotel in a great location. Close to Paseo and to Old town. The staff was super friendly.
The placement of the bathrooms were a little strange. No real privacy, so odd for newer couples.
The newly opened upscale DusitD2 Hotel Constance Pasadena is a seven-story building with a history dating back to 1926. However, its refreshed look is a departure from its rich history and now features a sleek, modern, and visually stimulating design. The hotel is quiet with an upscale boutique feel that attracts younger travelers and couples looking for something outside of hotel chains.
Located in Pasadena’s business district, the hotel is at the corner of Mentor and Colorado. The hotel is within short walking distance to numerous shops, cafes, restaurants, a cinema complex, and a grocery store. The hotel is on the route of the world-famous Tournament of Roses Parade and within 10 minutes of Old Pasadena, The Rose Bowl, Santa Anita Park, and the Pasadena Museum of California Art. Guest will find Universal Studio Hollywood and the Dodger Stadium 25 minutes away. For guests wanting to travel anywhere within a three-mile radius, the hotel operates a free six-seat, Asian-style Tuk Tuk.
Recently, Hotel Constance Pasadena added a rooftop pool, hot tub, and a poolside fitness center for guest’s enjoyment. Original highlights like the upscale full-service restaurant that serves Cal Asian cuisine, the Blue Room Lounge with free nightly entertainment, and plenty of meeting facilities are still available to guest’s conveniences.
Accommodations at the hotel are modern and stylish and come in a variety of sizes ranging from standard to Deluxe Terrace and 12 Suites. Standard amenities in all rooms include mini-fridges with free bottled water, Keurig coffeemakers, free WiFi, and robes. Each room also features the convenience of an iPad that controls lighting and temperature and offers other applications like housekeeping requests.
Step away from the boring chain hotels and stay at the funky Hotel Constance Pasadena.
