We ended up staying here one night after Paris shut down, before we could leave on our train. We've stayed here before too, it's one of our favorite Paris hotels. Super nice, I believe family run, rooms very good size and nothing Ikea modern looking, they have lots of character (each room painted with a theme). There is a little garden we sat in and played cards and drank wine, which was great as everyone was shut inside.
Hotel de Nesle was beautiful. I was specifically charmed by its decor. My room was washed in blue and very, very romantic (even if it was just a room for one).
No lifts, but I think this is a normal thing in many European shophouses.
This hotel is unique, with each room decorated in a different theme. We stayed in two successive rooms: the Hunchback of Notre Dame/Victor Hugo (Room 7), and then the French Country (Room 2). The first was pretty good, but the second was wonderful, with a great private bathroom. There is a beautiful courtyard garden to relax in. The location is spectacular, in easy walking distance to the Metro, shops and cafes, Pont Neuf, Notre Dame, and The Louvre. The staff was very helpful in moving us to a lower floor when stairs became an issue, then to a larger better room another floor lower when one opened up. Many hotel rooms become a blur on vacation, but this place will remain a vivid memory.
There was no breakfast offered, although it was easy to find one nearby. Coffee in room would have been nice. The lack of an elevator was understandable in an old building like this, but it was an issue. There is no elevator. The shared toilet for the Victor Hugo room was a bit scary to access, a precarious step up from a spiral staircase. Even worse, it didn't seem to be scrubbed during our three day visit--and the toilet room was so small it was actually hard to wipe properly. Ick. Go for the private bathroom rooms!
What a great place to stay! It is a really old building with quirky architecture and cool paintings in the room. The decorations everywhere are really classic and the folks are charming and friendly. I love this place.
I have nothing negative to say. So.ebody else might not like the stairs but I didnt mind at all.
Location great. Comfy beds. Clean. Felt safe. Charming hotel.
Shower cubicle very small (but functional).
