Great location. Great staff. Wonderful experience.
Wifi did not work in room.
The location was okay, but not real close to any major attractions. It splits the middle between Notre Dame and the Eiffel Tower.
Positives: The hotel staff were very kind and professional. The bed was comfortable. The neighborhood/location is spectacular.
Of the five hotels we stayed at in Europe during our vacation this summer, Bellechasse was the only hotel with a smelly toilet. We had to keep the lid down on the toilet and the door to the bathroom closed at all times. Regardless, the smell would still permeate the bedroom. What made things worse is that the air conditioning was broken for our first 24 hours in the hotel. When it was "fixed", it still did not work for the next two days of our stay. The shower had a very short wall that did not prevent shower water from creating puddles of water on the bathroom floor. We always had to towel mop the floor in order to not slip on it nor track it throughout the room.
Fabulous location. Original design. Lovely staff. Great breakfast.
The location was great for the Musee D'Orsay but otherwise, not great. Very hard to find a taxi. The Shower was amazing -- super high class with water coming out at different levels. The towels were plush. Great bed, a window I could open onto a quiet street and a real blackout shade. But the best part of the stay were the front desk folks. And I know now that that is the most important thing (and cleanliness) about any Foreign Country stay. Perinne, Jerome, Marina and Pedro were empathetic to the problems and as helpful as they possible could be. The breakfast was 5 star and in a lovely, relaxed setting.
Unfortunately, one of the reasons I booked there was because they offered a free phone that would allow me to make international and local phone calls and get internet to browse. It was broken and never got fixed the 3 days I was there. They compensated me with a free breakfast but still...my phone wasn't working right so this was a huge disappointment and impacted my stay. And then one of the elevators broke and I had to do some stair climbing (mobility being an issue for me). That got fixed right away. ALSO, the t.v. didn't get the English speaking channels that were promised. That was fixed by my last day. The phone never did get fixed.
In my opinion a hotel must reflect the character of the place in which it stands, and shoul suggest "a travel within the travel", while giving its own interpretation of the city, the district, and the street on to which it opens. With regards to the rue de Bellechasse, one must thing in terms of the 19th century aesthetics of the Museum of Orsay, with the old furniture of famous antique dealers, of the neo-classicism of the surrounding architecture but also of the art galleries, contemporary furniture and a unconventional way of life which were, since always, the axies of Faubourg St Germain an area whose charm, strength and elegance come from this balance between tradition and audacity, past and present, upper middle class and dolce vita, symbolising for me the spirit of Paris. On reflexion, we intend to proportion all these ingredients in fonction of all the places to be reinvented.
