Pros: We truly enjoyed our stay at the Monkey Tree Hotel this past weekend! My partner and I were looking for a short weekend getaway. The Monkey Tree is very private, facilities were great and the customer service was excellent. Beautiful property and wonderful poolside experience! Would love to visit again in the future.

The place was designed by Albert Frey and it's an interesting building with a great history that you can learn more about from the guest book in your room. Pros: We loved everything about this hotel! I have a love of mid century modern design and Hollywood history and this hotel had it all! We were greeted with friendly faces and shown around the property, that felt more like a home than a big hotel. The hotel offers free happy hour and a goodies box inside the room, complete with every type of pillow you can imagine to chose from , so you will definitely have a good nights sleep. The property is not huge, but it still offers 3 types of pools as well as breakfast. We cannot fault this hotel

Pros: Kathy and Gary, the owners, were very welcoming and couldn't do enough for us. We wanted to play golf whilst we were there and Kathy organised discount vouchers/offers at 2 excellent courses, and prepared a breakfast box for us on the morning we had a very early tee time. We stayed in their Jungle Room, very spacious, large bathroom and the private garden at the rear was great. Continental breakfast each morning was excellent. We loved the provision of free sangria at 4.30pm each afternoon around the swimming pool. What a great place to stay! We very much hope we can stay here again when we return to Palm Springs.

Called front desk to book a 730p reservation the nice restaurant downstairs. Which they agreed to do. When I get there at 730 it’s completely empty. It’s closed mondays and Tuesday’s! How doesn’t the entire front desk staff not know that??? Thank goodness for the kind bar tender next door who bought me a drink and showed my the wine bar in the back.

The massage area is hidden behind two hedges but still outdoors, the whole place is just wonderful and in my view much better than some of the other well known hotels because this one has so much space and greenery. Our room had french doors opening into our own patio where we could lie in bed and see the pool and bar but still had reasonable privacy. The staff were on the whole very good - some were excellent, some were a bit hapless. And in my view the menu is quite strange. But the over 21 policy meant it was incredibly peaceful and we had the perfect stay!

Cons: I arrived to the hotel very late after getting a flat tire during travel and waiting for aaa. Upon late check in, showering and jumping into bed, I woke up to discover the sheets underneath the comforters were spotted and dirty with something that looked like food, even spreading to my brand new pajamas. The front desk agent and manager had me come down to the front desk three separate times to speak to them and show them my pjs as well as having the housekeeping manager inspect the room and not replacing the sheets. They just left the mattress completely bare. When I asked them what it was on the sheets so I know how to treat my brand new pjs, I was told housekeeping would’ve never left the room in that condition. As a customer who stays frequently with Hilton to the point that I used Hilton points to Book this stay, I felt very unappreciated. Not only did the staff do absolutely nothing to accommodate the poor room conditions, they basically accused me of making the mess myself. Then offered the same discount available as online as an extra discount to accommodate when I stated I was staying two additional nights.

Cons: Air conditioner frequently turned off and dripped water. First floor was poorly ventilated and smelled like cleaning products.

Cons: We had reserved two rooms with confirmation but upon check-in we were initially told we only had one room. It took about 30 minutes to resolve the issue. One of the rooms we were given had a broken AC. A maintenance tech was immediately sent to our room to work on it and we left for dinner, Upon return from dinner, the desk lady told us he was still working on it but when we got to our room he was gone and the AC didn’t work. We were given another room, This room had an issue with doors, I got stuck in the bathroom after shutting the door. The door jammed and took awhile for me to open it, The next morning we were unable to get the door open to exit our room. This would have been a death trap in the event of a fire. We eventually got it opened and reported it to the desk upon check-out. We will never stay at this hotel again.

Cons: Called the front desk about a broken shower faucet. The front desk staff member told me that they would send out an engineer. No one showed. Had to stand in dirty bath water while showering. The hotel was clean and the pool area was great but, I will most likely never stay at this property again.

Cons: You do not get a lot for your money. my room was a good size, but a bit shabby and very noisy. so noisy in fact it was impossible to sleep in past 6 am when the staff start moving back and forth between the rooms outside and the door is so thin you can hear everything. I had to buy earplugs to sleep and then it was fine.

Bathrooms had not been cleaned. There was dirty towels and trash on the floor when I arrived.
The bed was rock solid. The mattresses were a 2 in mattress pad on top of a wooden risers.
Staff was not very helpful.

Pros:
Cons: it is in well known gay area of Palm Springs. To have it converted to a "straight" resort is a slap in the face. And to be notified upon checking in was a total disappointment. If we could get a refund we would of and left. The staff was 100% accommodating, no complaints with them.
