The location is excellent. Really close to Namba station, one of the main stations in Osaka. If you choose to stay at B&S Eco Cube Shinsaibashi you will live 5 minutes walk form the Glico running man neon sign in the Dontonbori area. Losts of shops and restaurants in the area. You get free nightwear and basic free toiletries each night.
I don't remember that the rules for a capsule hotel are mentioned when booking. You have to leave your luggage down stairs(you can only take a small bag with you upstairs to your locker), you have to "check out" every day. which means that you have to clear your bed, and upstairs locker each day(you can leave your luggage down stairs and if you like you can place them in a free lockers). These are not deal breaker rules, but it would be best if the guest are informed in advanced because it may come as a surprise.
The location is good and the rooms are clean
They literally kick you out of the entire hostel from 10 am -3 pm to clean. They don't let anyone in during these times. Even if you have a room here, they kick you out. You aren't even allowed to stay in the lobby. It's ridiculous and you can find better priced and better quality hostels in the area. Had I known what I know now, I never would have booked here and would have chosen another place. In addition, they don't even allow you (if you arrive earlier than check in time) to leave your suitcase there. They also don't even allow you to sit in the lobby between the hours of 10-3. They will wake you up and kick you out.
Typical Japanese cleanliness to an insane amount. this place is just spotless all the time! They have an interesting system which allows you to get two extra things like shaving cream, slippers (you can choose from about 12 options) for free every day (While still providing basic stuff like towels and a toothbrush!). Place is in a convenient location as well and the staff was very friendly and helpful! This all while it's very cheap for Japan!
I am a 198 tall guy of Dutch origin, going to Japan means I'll face some inconveniences regarding my length, unfortunately the capsule was a bit too small for me so I couldn't lay down completely stretched. Also the shower was very claustrophobic due to the ceiling always touching the top of my hair. Also there are some rules in the property which might be a little bit strange, but I'm sure they are there for good reasons!
1. The place was very clean. You are given a new bath towel, face towel, foot mat, long gown and toothbrush set every day. They also clean your capsule and locker everyday. 2. The location is perfect. It is 5-10 min away from Dotonbori street by walking. It turns out to be much better than living in Dotonbori area because it is more quiet at night so you can unwind in peace. 3. The staffs are very kind and helpful. They are all very young too so they are energetic to help with anything.
We came in January so we were happy that the capsule hotel was very warm (the floor heating system was amazing). However the heating fan inside the capsule room can make you feel a bit too hot. Once we closed the curtain of the capsule, it was a bit hard to breathe with the warm and dry air. But if you open the curtain, it will be totally fine (don't worry, ppl don't look into your capsule). It is good to avoid the high season because there is a high chance that many people will pack their luggages for morning flight in the hall and by that they won't let you sleep at all.
