Cool rooftop bar, good nightly rates, friendly staff
Mattress could've been a bit softer
LOVE the quaintness of this Marriott. It is close to Broadway plays and Times Square. A nice bar with some food to "hold you over" and a lovely rooftop bar with glass ceiling - LOVELY view!
Great location and friendly staff
Room was small and clean and had all the amenities. Everyone was friendly and helpful; we felt very welcomed and appreciated as guests . Definitely will stay at the hotel in future trips to NYC. P.S.Go up to the roof top bar for a drink and the view.
Great location and remember it is Nyc
The hotel has been nicely renovated and rooms was average size for Nyc. The staff is very accommodating and truly enjoy what they do. The rooftop bar with views of the Empire State Building is very nice! My wife commented that this was the first time she has slept well in New York.
I got a special rate, but the normal price can be a bit high for some. Murphy bed was interesting but this hotel had nothing that would stop me from recommending it!!! Loved it!
Tiny rooms, construction noise and elevator delays.
The location is not bad--on 37th st between 5th and 6th. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The wifi was good. They had free coffee in the morning.
I can not recommend this hotel. There are so many issues. The room was unbelievably tiny with no space for a table, i.e. no place to make or drinnk coffee. The only way to use a computer is to put it on your lap and sit on the bed. There is construction going on everywhere, with noise and dust, and one of the two elevators is out of use for hotel guests. I had a room in the back. It was quiet but had a depressing view of rundown buildings and garbage.
Good location, great staff, but growing pains
The staff were wonderful. Our room was quite nice and more spacious than we expected. Apparently the room had just completed renovation and was approved for occupancy the day before we checked in. The rooftop bar is very attractive, with a fabulous view of the Empire State Building.
The renovations that are in progress are a real nuisance. The restaurant and the fitness center are closed for renovations. During the day, and sometimes in the evening, only one of the two elevators is available for guest use. That was very frustrating. More than once we took the stairs, both from and to our 8th floor room, because of the miserable wait for the elevator to arrive.
The restaurant was nice. The location is good.
The room had a nice view over the Empire States but it had too much noise from the street. The complimentary kits of the bathroom was too poor.
It s so noise
You can ear a lot of noise fron the streat
Underwhelmed in NYC
Roof Top Bar, location
Expensive, small room, mattress made loud noises getting in and out of bed. No room service, no food except after 6PM.
Excellent for the price
Given the price of hotels in NYC, this is an extremely excellent hotel for the price. Most hotels I have stayed in while in NYC for this price or a little less were nothing more than a room with just enough room for the bed. Not the case here. The room was very large compared to other rooms and very well kept. I will be coming back.
Perfectly adequate
The strand is in a really great location if you're a first timer to NYC and want to be able to get to a lot of things quickly. Times Square, Empire State, Rockefeller Center, Bryant Park and the library are all super close, and the subway is right there to get you the rest of the way. Chelsea and the Highline also in walking distance. The room is fine, had everything we needed, was clean, and had a cool-looking shower, though we didn't end up with a view of the empire state building.
Whenever the people in the room next door arrived or left, we could hear them like they were inside our room or opening our door. thin walls, I guess. Not a huge deal, just a little startling.
So pleased with this hotel. Great, helpful staff. Great location. Awesome rooftop bar. Bistro bar was comfortable a d food was great. Absolutely no complaints.
