Staff were extremely friendly. Got in late at night and the night caretaker was wonderful to let us in and show us around. Extremely centrally located- nearby all the shops and cafes. Great value for money, will definitely return :).
There is no air conditioning, so the building was very hot. There were a lot of loud noises outside - difficult to get sleep with the window open. Window coverings also blocked the breeze of open windows. Long story short, we closed the window to have a dark, hot place to sleep! Not the best sleep but still enjoyed the place.
The facility itself is really nice. Very clean, nice set up, nice staff members. Good security measures. Comfortable bed. Free bottled water.
Outside of this place was crawling with drug addicts and loud drunk people. It was not somewhere to go outside after dark. The front desk lady emphasized not to leave anything in my car and car windows were smashed out in the parkade nearby. The hostel is very hot. They provide a fan in room but it didn't help and we couldn't sleep between the heat and the screaming drunk/high people outside and the seagulls.
Amazing room, comfortable matress, very clean amenities, friendly staff. Highly recommended
The first night we stayed in a double room, great bed, very clean, lovely property. The second time we stayed in a mixed dorm - the dorm was also clean.
The first time we stayed in the double bed room we stayed on the street side - it was very noisy early in the morning, cars, busses and trucks passing + some cleaning in the guesthouse hallway. Bathrooms could have some body soap- there is nothing. The second time we stayed in a dorm room. The beds were noisy and moving around everytime someone moves or gets up. The other guests in the room were absolutely horrible (they got up every half an hour, made a lot of noise , had no respect) and we got no sleep - this is nothing to do with the guesthouse so did not affect the rating. WONT stay in a dorm again. (Maybe if beds were not so damn noisy it would be better)
Great, budget friendly place to stay in the heart of Nanaimo. We were pleasantly surprised. The staff at us for a midnight check in. We would stay here again.
It’s an older building, with no air conditioning.
