10.0 Excellent
Pros: I read many reviews of Resort Project Myoko and everyone mentioned how great the property is but most reviews made special reference to how great the hosts are. Soichiro and Hiro truly are some of the nicest people you'll ever meet. They go out of their way to make sure you enjoy your stay. Loved it so much I can't wait to go back with our sons next year!
Cons: nada, zero
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect staff service.
Cons: No convenience store nearby, but it has no effect to the awesome experience when we stayed.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: All the previous positive comments are true!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: breakfast was large and more than adequate with a mixture of Western and Japanese offerings . our room was just above the engine room of the hotel and there was always a high pitched hum we could hear but we adapted after a little while but it would be a lot better not to have the sound there. the hosts of the hotel were amazing with their hospitality and kindness in taking us to the ski fields and picking us up at the end of the day and taking us to the town in the evenings for shopping /restaurants etc. We ate dinner there on 2 nights and the food was plentiful and delicious. our room was a quadruple room which was very generous in size for Japan and for just the 2 of us was fantastic. The onsen was also a highlight for us in the hotel. We would definitely consider returning for another season .
Cons: The sound from the engine room of the hotel in our room . This would not have affected other rooms in the hotel.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hosts Soichiro and Hiroe were amazing and treated us very well, driving us to Akakura and ski resorts each day. They were very accommodating and friendly and made the stay very memorable for our group. We would definitely recommend Resort Project to other travellers and will be back again.
Cons: It was all great, the location was out of town but it was not an issue as we were given lifts around town, which saved on using the local bus to get to each ski resort.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hosts were exceptionally sweet people! They were so helpful and nice, and took care of me when I was ill. The room was spacious and comfortable. The guest house was peaceful and super clean, and the in-house onsen a luxury. The dinner was generous, and there are also two other restaurants within walking distance. The room for drying and storing skiing equipment was very functional. All in all, a perfect stay!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved the Japanese breakfast - grilled fish, rice and miso soup.
Cons: The hotel was a bit quiet towards the end of our stay. It was a little eerie being the only female guest using the onsen facilities. Some people may like this though!
Akakura Kanko Hotel - Myoko - Building
2
9.1 Excellent (1,067 reviews)
7.9 Good
Pros: Clean Mountain Air. I live in a City with regular air pollution. The trip to the mountain really revitalize my lung. The Staffs. Top of the brass, Professional and kinds. I told the staff that I'll leave for the mountain at 5AM, so I don't need a breakfast. The staff then provided me with Hotel's Cake to compensate for the Breakfast's fee. If this isn't a top tier hospitality, I don't know what is. The Spa. The staff's massaging skill was top-notch. I receive massages regularly in my regular life, And I'm willing to say that I've never had a better massage. The price for the room and Spa was actually quite steep, but it was definitely worth it. I was having such a great time that I didn't felt bothered about it.
Cons: The Location was secluded from the main town. There was a shuttle bus to the Train Station, but for anything else, you'll have to find alternatives to go there from the hotel. The room was quite average for a Hotel, nothing good, nothing bad, but there was a problem with the window. Since this hotel is up in the mountain, I'd prefer if I could open the window wide open, so that I can taste the fresh air while I'm sleeping. There was no vending machine. Although the water are free and tap water are drinkable Spring water, if you need bottled water or snack for any reason, you'll need to buy them from the hotel store before 5PM. Also, they have a really large painting hanging beside water and coffee machine. I was worried that the moisture will damage the painting. Please move it somewhere else if possible.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A gem- the property is amazing
Cons: Nothing- staff are super helpful and obliging
8.0 Excellent
Pros: hotel service
Cons: transportation
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Modern and top class spa facilities , amazing food with lots varieties and one could try 5-6 different dinner courses (halfboard highly recommend)over the stay. Services is 10+, this is our first ski trip and I must have asked hundreds of questions through emails before coming here ,Erika from the concierge team provided speedy and very detailed reply to all of my enquires. We have stayed in both the standard room in the main building and premium room with private outdoor onsen in the new wing. It definitely worth paying up for the premium room if one wants chill in the hotel. The room is much bigger and style is neoclassic Japanese. However, a standard room should be enough if one spends most time skiing as public spa and family spa ( booking required) are available to all hotel guests. This hotel is definitely not cheap but offers great value for money ,considering the facilities , food options , services and locations . It has everything we want for a ski holiday in style. It is cheaper than some old , more economy resorts in Hokkaido during peak season.
Cons: Housekeeping could be improved. Our sleep wears were not property folded. Check the snow forecasts - there’s lack of snow this year and we traveled 30 mins to Lotte Arai to ski. according to ski instructor, ski in ski out is not an option for beginner like us because of where akakura kanko hotel locates ( on a slope) when there is enough snow
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The facilities at the Hotel resort is outstanding; the views are spectacular; service is top. One of the jewels of a resort anywhere in the world
Cons: Can’t think of a thing
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Loved that I was given a corner room facing the mountains! The hotel provided top service throughout my entire stay. The onsen also had a fantastic view.
Cons: N.A.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly welcome and super helpful! Awesome few days there.
Cons: Walls were a bit thin, but it didn't bother me one bit.
7.9 Good
Pros: Staff were super helpful, would help organise lift passes for local resorts. Friendly vibes in the common spaces. Good drying room set up, and plenty of space in the room for luggage.
Cons: There was only one female shower so would often wait for a shower. It was a decent 10-15 min uphill walk to the main local slope and bus stop.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Clean and cosy.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Japow House. Kimmi and Miyu were awesome hosts and were very helpful in suggesting places to eat and visit. The facilities were very clean and had everything that we needed. Breakfast was nice, consisting of cereal, toast and hot soup. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a great place to stay while visiting Myoko.
Cons: Lack of parking is the only complaint I have.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed at Japowhouse for 5 nights, and Kimi and Miyu made us feel instantly welcome. The house is warm and cozy and a home away from home. The rooms are spacious and clean and the downstairs lounge/bar is a great communal area to meet other skiers. Kimi is a wealth of knowledge on the local mountains and Miyu makes a mean Katsu sandwich. We will definitely be coming back to Japowhouse again!!
7.9 Good
Pros: Kimi and Miyu were wonderful hosts. The lodge is kept very clean and tidy, and always has a very friendly and welcoming atmosphere.

Pros: Very comfortable beds and lovely breakfasts every morning. Hosts are very welcoming and accommodating, they will drive you to and from ski lifts every morning! A great place to stay for a weekend.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I loved the hosts were the best. They were cheerful. They picked us up from the train station and I loved their home cooked meals. I really liked the traditional rooms we staying in. It was warm and there was a drying room. I loved the baths they had in the shower rooms, perfect after a day of snowboarding. I will definitely stay there next time I come back. I LOVED it!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hosts go out of their way to facilitate you having a good stay. The location is excellent with access to multiple mountains and a town very close with a lot of food options!
Cons: The fickle weather not delivering snow when we were there!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly and helpful staff. Quiet location. A very Japanese experience. Everything is scrupulously clean and tidy.
Cons: I had been to Mt Cervin once before in winter and the owners were welcoming and hospitable. This visit in the summer time confirmed my high opinion of Mt Cervin. Shun and Takeko who own and manage the establishment are the most helpful and friendly hosts. The lodge is a little way from Akakura Onsen village and Shun would always drive me at no extra charge to a restaurant or onsen and accompany me inside for and introduction to the establishment proprietor. They picked me up from Myoko Kogen railway station at the start of my visit and drove me back there at the end of my stay at Mt Cervin. They could not have made me feel more comfortable.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: We had a great week staying at Mont Cervin . Takako and Shun are a delightful , friendly and very helpful couple. Don't miss Takako's Special Japanese dinner (sushi, sashimi and nabe) as she is an excellent cook. Go easy on lunch and save up your appetite! Shun was always happy to shuttle us to the resorts and up to dinner at night . His restaurant recommendations are spot on and we had some great, fun meals. He also is happy to collect you at 8pm and drive you home but we enjoyed the 10 minute downhill walk each evening. Our room was spacious, quiet, warm and light- filled and the bed comfortable . A soak in the hot "onsen" bathroom downstairs was much appreciated at the end of the day. It is well worth paying for breakfast each morning and the wifi was strong and reliable. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Mont Cervin and the company of Takako and Shun and the other guests and I recommend it to all as an excellent place to stay in Myoko. Arigato gozaimasu, Takako and Shun.

2.5 Mediocre
Cons: The guest house totally forgot about our booking. We waited outside the locked door of the guest house for two hours under the rain and nobody came back.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: This family owned and run hotel is in need of a refurbish however the helpful friendly staff make up for this. The dinner and breakfast were fantastic also the location right in the middle of the small village is perfect. The offer of a lift to the train station when we left was very appreciated.
Cons: We would have liked a comfortable chair to sit on in our room. The bathroom was obviously new however the exhaust fan does not cope.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Receptionists are nice and helpful.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Felt like a home away from home! Room was a great size, beds were cozy, breakfasts were delicious! Close to everything. Great local recommendations and the family who run the Star Hotel were incredibly kind! Couldn’t have asked for more!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great position, owners/staff were always willing to help, room was huge compared to the last place I stayed
Cons: No drying room for snow gear but the gas room heater did the job
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very convenient location. Restaurants and shops a few steps from front door. Five minute walk to International Ski School rental shop and about 10 minute walk to nearest lift. Basic accommodation. Beds were firm, which is better than most beds we’ve had in Japanese ski resorts! Family room fitted 4 of us, but needed to be disciplined to be tidy, otherwise it would be difficult to move! Family is lovely and are very welcoming.
Cons: Rooms had good heating. Rest of place a little drafty. Lacks a communal area that you could meet other guests in the evenings after skiing. Dining room could possibly do this, but was clearly more set up for meals only.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The traditional experience along with the pleasant and cooperative manner of the hotel owner's. The traditional and different breakfasts each morning were beautiful cooked and presented.
Cons: Nothing really. We were very happy with hotel and excellent staff.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Staff were so lovely and accommodating to our group. It’s a traditional pension style accommodation with western-facility in room but the option to onsen and enjoy Japanese style set breakfasts.
Cons: An older property than some alternatives, but has a lift to access 5 levels and all the facilities needed to have a good nights rest. No negatives for us!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The accommodation is located in the main street of Aakura Osen area, ski resort, restaurant and shops are all in short walking distance. The room was big and comfort, home made breakfast and dinner were great, owners are very nice and helpful, during the day when we arrived in the bus stop, because it was heavy snowing, they offered us a pick up that was really unexpected! Discount lift passes can be arranged in the front desk.
Cons: They didn't have much heat in the corridor and no hot water in the washroom, experienced a bit hard time when trying to wash my face in the morning ...

8.3 Excellent
Pros: The location was fantastic, genuinely ski in, ski out.
6.7 Good
Pros: The Owners were really friendly and generous. My wife was ill with a chest infection and had problems with the Japanese bed for sleeping as she has a bad back.We had to cancel the last two nights ( of 3 ) and the Owner kindly only charged for the one night. The food was basic but good.
Cons: This is really a ski hostel and would suit younger people better. It is directly on the ski slopes. There is no sign in English to show where it is but the nearby tourist information office helped us to find it. Our room was heated by a kerosene heater, not good for chesty people.Washing is communal. Our room had a wash basin with cold water and no curtains, overlooking the ski slopes. The car park is 200 metres down the road but the owner kindly brought our cases etc on his snow machine. This hostel is not realy suitable for older aged travellers in our opinion unless improvements are made in the heating and warm water suppled by pipes to the room and things are made more private.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Traditional small tatami room with kerosene heater. Beautiful view. Right next to ski lift. Shared toilets and japanese style bathroom.
Cons: I would like Japanese food for breakfast instead of bread and eggs.
8.8 Excellent
Cons: The owners and staff were excellent in helping us enjoy our stay.
6.7 Good
Pros: The onsen was a nice touch. Good place to ski in and ski out but it’s a little too far from centre.

Pros: Owners were very friendly and helpful. Location good if you are skiing at Akakura Onsen area. A fair walk to the Akakura Kanko base area. Breakfast was good (mostly Japanese style food).
Cons: Beds and pillows very hard and no bedside tables. It was very expensive for the level of accommodation. Rooms are small which is fairly normal for Japan but these are on the smaller side of what you might expect. The Onsen is very basic and run down - better to go to the one in the hotel across the street.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is really well located near the lifts and in the town. It is 100m from the busiest part so you don't get the noise but you are still nice and close. The hotel will go out of its way to help. They also pick you up and drop you off at the station which is a nice extra touch.

Cons: A shower that wasn't part of the Onsen would have been a handy feature.

Akakura Kanko Hotel - Myoko - Building

Pros: Great staff. Great location. Comfortable rooms. The onsen is amazing. There is a cool reading/book area and fantastic hangout area with a fireplace. Can't say enough good things about Kougakuro.
Cons: Intermittent Internet. If you need wifi access this could be a minor issue. However, if you are in Akakura Onsen to enjoy friends, family, food, onsen and snow this shouldn't be a problem
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Delicious breakfast, very friendly and efficient service provided by all staff, clean and tidy room, nice small onsen, free pick up service at Myoko Kogan Station, spacious and warm sitting area, good location about 200 meters from ski lift and several restaurants in the vicinity, most customers are foreigners and staff can communicate in good English.
Cons: Tatami room is a little outdated, wifi is weak in the evening, old type heater makes noise. It would be better if free coffee and tea can be provided in the lobby.
