You get what you pay for
The ONLY good thing is the location
The staff were extremely rude. They didn't have the correct room for us and claimed they have no association with Kayak. We were surprised with a $20 "service fee" which paid for a pathetic breakfast, inadequate wifi and beach towels. The wifi kicked you off every 15 min. The hotel looked like it was falling apart, don't let the pictures fool you. If all you want is a quick access to the beach, this is your hotel. If you expect standard hotel service, do not book here. I was appalled by the rudeness of the staff!!
The location is perfect spot on south beach. It was quiet from all the street noise
I would have loved a pool. Having the ocean so close made up for it.
gone downhill attitude all wrong, better alternati
despite some renovations, its a tired hotel, poor quality refurb, rubbish unsecure wifi, a bar thats never open I've stayed here several times over the years and know what to expect from budget hotels in this location, however it is now a very poor hotel, with poor services, a rip off breakfast that they say you have to pay for despite the wifi not working in my room (and its an unsecure wifi) and having a terrible so called breakfast consisting of stale bagels, cereals, juice and coffee, $20 breakfast is a ripoff, not suitable for gluten free no alternatives offered, poor attitude amongst senior staff. I will never stay there again and I urge you to look at the other places close by, 20 bucks a night more puts you in a proper hotel with proper facilities
Perfect south beach stay
The location was great. Just one block from ocean drive and about 20 min walk from Lincoln Road. The staff was very friendly especially the doorman. He was very attentive and proactive when he noticed we needed beach towels. We would stay again.
Maybe some better quality pillows and a coffee maker in the room.
Hate this place
Front desk was so rude not welcoming ended up cancelling before they gave me a room and to be more specific on why i cancelled they were slamming doors around because my travel agency was contacting them about my booking with them so I wasn't treated with any care there
The rude staff the doors being slammed around and the comments they would say about me in the other room where the manager wouldn't even come out to fix the issue with my reservation
Was less than I expected
The only thing that was good about it was the location. But the staff was great
I cannot say enough about how terrible my stay was. I checked out a day early on 4/18 and am still struggling with their awful customer service as of now.
Quaint Place but pretty noisy
The location of the hotel was as I expected. I've stayed in Miami Beach a number of times and location is generally more important to me. It was a short walk to Lincoln Rd Mall and a short walk to the beach. The hotel staff was quite pleasant.
The room we stayed in was on the ground floor and immediately on Collins Ave. As you could imagine, it was pretty noisy. Also, the heat/AC unit in the room didn't appear to work correctly for heating. Unfortunately the stay overlapped with a cold front in Miami so it was a little chilly in the room. Breakfast was supposed to run until 10 but when we made it at 945 everything had been put away.
Uncomfortable and Expensive
The location and the breakfast.
We arrived at 4pm and while there is no place to park we were lucky to be able to pull up in front of the hotel while we checked in. During the check in procedure we were informed there would be a $30 per day valet parking fee and a one time $13 and some change resort fee which covered wifi, breakfast and a free glass of wine per day. Our room was incredibly small and overlooked the street. Part of the bathroom had been updated. It was basically rectangular, two double beds (one saggy), with a closet on the right and the bath on the left. The bath had a mini toilet and a single shower. During showers the water would alternate between scalding hot and barely warm. There was ONE hook on the door and no place to hang towels. The room had a tv stand with two drawers and one night stand between the bed. (TV was the big old kind seriously?) A luggage rack would have been appreciated because we had to keep our bags on the floor as there was no good place to put our clothes and toiletries. I did like that our windows swung wide open. On the second night that people directly above us made a racket and I had to call the front desk four times. Each time they got the people upstairs to quiet down but an hour later they would start up again. There is no pool or sundeck. You can walk a block to the beach and rent beach towels for $7 per towel which is ridiculous because the towels are only bath size. You can buy a beach towel for that much, After $380 for two nights and fees of about $90 for parking and resort fee and taxes I feel ripped off. When we left one of the employees brought our car to the street about 1 block from the entrance. We asked him to bring the car closer and he didn't say anything, he just gestured to us with the keys trying to hand them over. Really? Finally we got him to bring the car closer. No one helped up with our bags. I will not stay there again.
no parking!!! overpriced
Location was awesome, if your looking for the South Beach Night life. Bar staff was friendly. Great front porch to sit on and people watch. Just a block walk to the beaches.
It was difficult to understand the thick accent of the hotel staff, some extra effort to converse was needed. Bathroom was small and in need of updates. Hotel room was clean, furniture was sub-par for price of the room. Hotel is frankly old, and some of that can be charming considering the age of the Art Deco district, but it would be much more suitable for more than one night if the building received some attention and updates.
With a stay at South Beach Plaza Hotel in Miami Beach (South Beach), you'll be steps from Lummus Park Beach and 8 minutes by foot from Art Deco Welcome Center. Featured amenities include a 24-hour front desk, multilingual staff, and luggage storage.
