The coffee pot didn’t work
The staff were the only thing that saved this from a very low rating, they were outstanding, welcoming and accommodating. The security staff were always on the lookout for any homeless hanging around the hotel and the maids were great. Beale St is a sight to see during The Blues Foundation, IBC (International Blues Challenge) week which is why we were there. Plenty of music, good food and party atmosphere on Beale which meant we didn't have to be in the hotel much.
This hotel is very outdated, I know it's about to have a makeover but I can only review on our stay here. I feel it wasn't worth the amount of money we paid. The rooms were outdated, aircon & heating was so noisy. The curtains didn't black out enough in fact the stick kept falling off that we used to pull the curtains across. The breakfast was the worst hence we only ate there on our first morning and expensive for eating what felt like rubber. Compared to the rest of the hotel staff the ones at breakfast did not facilitate properly as we kept asking for cutlery, napkins, and orange juice only for them to have forgotten what the order was. The restaurant wasn't even that busy so we just ate out the rest of the week we stayed there. There are many places to eat on Beale St and beyond on a short walk.
