I particularly enjoyed the sense of history that the hotel exuded. The ornate banisters, the layout, the whole sense that this had a heritage far beyond its present humdrum role as a hotel. to and if mournful organ music had emanated from it, in the small hours of the night I wouldn't have been surprised. Indeed, I found myself whistling "There's a light over at the Frankensten place." as I walked up to its foreboding door> The photograph I added is *not* the hotel - that's comparatively dull in comparison. But is the wonderful older property I referred to - it's a gem!
The radiator stubbornly refused to move to a different setting. But the windows opened - which was nice.
The time we left
Everything. It looked unclean and tired. The receptionist wasn’t knowledgeable. Didn’t know the room we were given had a naked last in the bed who planned on staying another night. Have us another room where the carpet didn’t even for the floor right. Party central after 12 which sounded like 10 people in the room. Has to phone reception off my mobile to help with the noisy guests. We were offered a late check out to catch up on some sleep, we asked what time we had to be out by to which we were told any time. Obviously that wasn’t her case as we received a call asking when we were leaving at 12. WOULD NEVER STAY HWRE AGAIN!
The staff were lovely. The food was Fabulous. The cleanliness was amazing. i can't complain
Only thing that went wrong was a fuse had gone so all sockets wasn't working. however the maintenance guy had it sorted in 5 mins. He was a lovely guy
Great location; free parking space; beautiful garden
The heating was not working in my room. I informed the staff and they promised they would fix it. We were freezing next morning. I told the staff again and they changed the room. We packed and headed to the new room... but was not ready. Back to our fresh room to have an afternoon nap. Then again back to the new room which was exactly cold as the first one. Then they provided us with a portable electric heater.
