The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was big and beautiful.
The place was extremely dirty, and the bed had fleas or bedbugs, my skin was full of lesions after the night. The room was also full of other little animals like spiders. The bathroom was big and beautiful, but dirty and had a terrible smell.
The house itself is pretty and my room was big, with a large bed, a desk, and a big wardrobe, and very large windows. There was an armchair but it didn't look like something you'd really want to sit on... Next door is a church with a nice garden. The bed was relatively comfortable and there are 3 lamps which is a nice alternative to having the bright lights on. There was a TV but it's very high up in the corner. I didn't use it but can't imagine a comfortable position to watch it.
I only had email contact with the host, and that would've been okay except they were sometimes very slow to answer. I was told I'd get check-in instructions by email a few days in advance, but I actually got them minutes before I arrived, and if it had been any later I would've just been waiting on the street. Luckily I had data on my phone otherwise I wouldn't have been able to receive it. We then had some email contact, and I asked to use the wifi, which I knew was more money because it said so in the advert. The host reminded me of the price (4euros per day) and said if I agreed to that, he would email me the password. I agreed and then hours and hours went by before he answered, which meant my first day I had no wifi. When he did send the password, he said I could pay at breakfast. I told him I wouldn't be there because I had to work early, but I could transfer him the money. He never replied and then took the money from my credit card without asking. It wasn't so much money but it felt wrong that he charged it without replying to me or telling me. The room smelt quite bad, like it had been damp, maybe. The windows are huge and let a lot of light in, but they don't open. That's probably for the best because it's on the ground floor and otherwise someone could just walk in, but it got hot and stuffy. There's a fan on the ceiling but it's very noisy and squeaky, so I didn't use it. I kept the curtains closed which kept a little bit of heat out and also meant people couldn't see in as they walked past. The windows are also single-glazing which means you hear absolutely everything. People walking past and the church bells early in the morning. The bathroom was functional but not more. The shower temperature was very unpredictable, but the pressure was okay. The bathroom smelt more strongly than the bedroom.
Kitchen hygiene I asked for wifi but the code didn’t work.
Good breakfast, water in the shower hot & strong
Missing light bulbs, power plug at the bed not working properly, two thick blankets inseparably stitched on top of one another made it too warm
We booked a room woth 3 beds, as we needed two separate beds. We got a room with a double bed.
