8.3 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast should offer alternate items. Location was great. Hosts were very friendly and always available.
Cons: It was a tough climb to second floor bedroom. It should have been highlighted in the booking process.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent food and service. Great hosts and staff.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a beautiful mid-18th century house with well appointed common spaces, beautifully decorated rooms and fantastic amenities. The owners are lovely, engaging and very helpful.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: From the cozy decor to the scrumptious breakfasts, Birchwood Inn is one of a kind! Tom and Debbie, the innkeepers, serve up a warm, hospitable atmosphere from the moment you step out of your car. The location is just steps away from downtown Lenox. We walked to Tanglewood and enjoyed a concert there. We also paddle boarded at the Stockbridge Bowl and walked on the trails of the Mass Audobon's Pleasant Valley Wildlife Sanctuary. Brenda, their treasure of a cook, creates delicious breakfasts and baked goods that are fit for the gods! Finally, I must mention the sweet, homemade treats laid out for guests to nosh on any time of the day. A gem of a place!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Extremely well maintained Bed & Breakfast Inn of the Highest Calibre. Much though given to every little detail. Quite Perfected. Decanter of Sherry in the vast Library to boot!
Cons: The entry driveway is kind of narrow but that is about it. That Is a nit pick for sure.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was amazing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Birchwood Inn was charming and historical yet tasteful and modern in its amenities. The hospitality was truly excellent. My husband and I spent a night at the inn for our anniversary, and Tom was so welcoming and helpful. The breakfast was gourmet. Could not recommend more.
7.7 Good
Pros: The owner was very nice. The home is very comfortable. The location is great.
Cons: The furnishings need updating. The bedding needs updating with better quality pillows, down comforters, white duvets. Its a little old fashioned. Would like to see an updated kitchen and it would be helpful if the service understood the history of the home and surrounding areas. Would also be nice to have less sugary options for breakfast.
9.6 Excellent
Cons: A bit overpriced due to not going directly to the actual Birchwood website, which is what we tried to do, but were misdirected by the booking.com site. We just need to be more careful next time. The B&B was great, though.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Debbie and Tom were the most gracious and helpful hosts. We enjoyed meeting them and hearing their story. Their inn is absolutely serene and the cleanliness was up to my very high standards! The breakfast was superb, especially the maple bacon scones!!!! My favorite part of our stay was enjoying some wine on the huge porch. It was so relaxing
Cons: I disliked that we didn't stay more than one night!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The inn is lovely. The grounds lush with flowers and trees. The front porch looks out on lovely gardens. Close walk to town, but not right in town, which is great. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Home baked goodies, eggs and fruit. Our room lovingly decorated and comfortable with all amenities. We will definitely stay at he Birchwood Inn again!

Pros: We loved the Hampton Terrace Inn. What a fantastic place!!! Stan greeted us when we arrived and gave us a tour of the main house and the grounds. He was a terrific host. The room was charming and beautiful as was the bathroom. The breakfast was amazing as well. We hung out in the common area a bit and this was like a hallmark movie. It was decorated for Christmas. This was also a terrific location. You are a stone’s throw from the village and some of the amazing restaurants. This is one of the best places I have ever stayed....don’t think twice....stay here.

Cons: Absolutely nothing.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: We weren't in the main house; our room turned out to be in the nearby carriage house. However, this meant we had a balcony that viewed the woods and were further away from the road, so less traffic noise. (It rained during our stay, which was rather romantic.) The room was small but really lovely. A quite extensive breakfast buffet was served at the charming main house. The staff was very accommodating.

Pros: Charming inn perfectly situated to attend events at Tanglewood. Beautifully appointed with Victorian antiques. Very clean. And such a comfortable bed! Amy, the innkeeper, is welcoming and easy to work with.

Pros: Innkeepers were super friendly and helpful in tips for exploring the area

Pros: I loved the breakfast buffet! The ultimate test of a good "bed and breakfast" place is always how good the breakfast is. Brook Farm Inn breakfast was delicious. Afternoon tea and scones on Fridays and Saturdays -- an extra special touch.
Cons: Website picture of room needs to be updated. Selected room according to picture on website. Room décor is different. Thought I was in the wrong room.

Cons: Third floor walk-up - should have requested second floor.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: The bed was very comfortable, the room itself was attractive and roomy . Double sinks in the bathroom and the shower head was great.
Cons: I would have liked a designated light over my bed for reading. There was one light for the 2 beds. There was no night light in the bathroom so we left the over the sink light on with the door cracked. The privacy curtains did the trick for nighttime but there was no way to have natural light in the room during the day with privacy . The pool was glorious and 87 degrees. My zumba class was great fun.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: If you are in Western MA seeing a show at Tanglewood, this place is in a great location for that.
5.4 Okay
Pros: I LOVED the restaurant staff, especially Joy & Kevin. The food at the brunch was SO GOOD. The best blueberry coffee cake of my life! I also thought the reception check-in gentleman was SUPER at his job.
Cons: The shower water was, unfortunately, ICE cold & the internet was OUT. I had to complete some work on this trip so I called the front desk to see what was going on with the internet. They said, "oh, that building has been having issues with the internet." Their service recovery was below average. I felt the representative just brushed me off. Kinda like "too bad." Shey did offer me to come into the lobby & use a shared computer, but I needed to use my laptop for work, so that wasn't a valid option. For over $400 a night, I would NOT return to the same room/building I was in. There are other buildings to stay in. I think we stayed in the 'lemon' of all the buildings. It was very dated, the water was ice cold, and the internet was out. I mean COME ON.
7.1 Good
Pros: I like the spa, though depends on the therapist! I love the location. Their flowers are beautiful. Indoor and outdoor pool is nice. Room service is limited. It's a beautiful property and it's undergoing renovation!
Cons: The room was very average, the bathroom quite old. It was in a noisy area. Their golf carts are noisy and smelly. The room was in a noisy part and I asked for quiet. I had no view, and I asked for view! The worst was the loud hosekeeping with no regard for the non disturb sign! Very rude! That was unacceptable! I was a repeat guest and now I have to reconsider! However, it's a much cheaper option than the neighboring Canyon Ranch! The area is beautiful any time of year!
6.3 Good
Pros: Location
Cons: The housekeeper was rude and noisy!
4.2 Okay
Pros: Beautiful views
Cons: Room and facilities in utter disrepair Were met with shrugs when speaking with personel of our discomfort
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Lovely room, great staff, especially on reception. Beautiful surroundings.
Cons: Nothing to dislike
8.3 Excellent
Cons: That the mansion was closed
5.4 Okay
Pros: Good mattress but wrong size sheet that did not stay on mattress.proerty
Cons: Property under major construction. Not too noisy but place is a mess .continental breakfast was very sparse and not up to standard for a resort of this caliber. Air conditioner stopped at 11pm along with bedroom lights that could not be fixed until am.
5.4 Okay
Pros: 65" tv. Surprisingly quiet considering the surrounding construction.
Cons: Horrible check in where you're actually told "hey you can still cancel ". If you enjoy things that aren't quite right you'll LOVE IT. TV channels work or don't. Shower pressure lousy. Takes minutes for hot water. Note to housekeeper and tip taken and room UNTOUCHED. Google local car washes you'll need it.
5.8 Okay
Pros: the pool was ok, although needs an update. We ate at Sloane's and the food was good.
Cons: This place is under total renovation with construction vehicles, closed walkways (had to drive on the rte 20 to get to the pool. I really felt that booking.com should have warned me about the construction. I received an email AFTER I book it (non-refundable because we were going the next day). The pool was very nice, the beds were REALLY SOFT and UNCOMFORTABLE. I don't care that these rooms are usually $400/night--who wants to stay at a place that's completely under construction? So disappointing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Cranwell was amazing place alot of history and the grounds were beautiful
Cons: No

Pros: Great staff, lovely property. Our first room wasn’t quite right and we were given another one. Great service! The pool was so relaxing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We’ve stayed there many times. We love the location across the street from Tanglewood,, the pool, the generous breakfast, the incredibly beautiful grounds, the small historic inn vibe...
7.5 Good
Pros: The location was perfect for our purpose. Breakfast was very good. Staff is very pleasant.
Cons: The entry and hallways in the lodge building smell a little musty.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The main building is absolutely beautiful. The grounds were amazing. Breakfast was really nice on the porch with wonderful view. The pool looks great also. Great location across from Tanglewood
Cons: The room was very clean but very dated. Could use a facelift. Also an elevator would be a plus
6.3 Good
Pros: Grounds were beautiful, breakfast was great, main house was beautiful. Location was perfect for attending a Tanglewood concert.
Cons: Our room in the annex was very musty, the bathroom wasn't as clean as it could have been, and it just seemed shabby. This accommodation was overpriced.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Sharon was incredibly kind ,accommodating and truly hospitable. We literally felt at home. So was Mary. Even the lady that fixes the room, Carla was wondrous. I would go back in a heartbeat. So grateful to have found this treasure. Cynthia
7.5 Good
Pros: Charming, cozy, breakfast with a view from the porch
Cons: Had to carry my large suitcase to my room on the third floor. Going up the narrow and steep staircases was not easy! Shower place very small, water too weak.
6.0 Good
Pros: Breakfast
Cons: Smell, linens
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful breakfast and location. Practically across the street from Tanglewood. The historic main house is well appointed and tasteful.
Cons: We did not like the second building as much as the main house, and had to change our room. The second building needs serious updating. Perhaps hard wood flooring, window treatments, and central air. The hallways were cold and bare. Once we switched to the main house we were happy with the room-but not sure we would have liked the second building if that was all that was available.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Lovely setting, location is perfect, grounds well kept.
Cons: We stayed in the lodge, and there was a very musty smell. The air conditioner was circa 1960, and it was not dehumidifying at all! Beds were marginal (sank in the middle) and shower ran cold and hot whenever it decided to. Surprise!!! This space is due for a complete remodel, and certainly is not worth the price.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely grounds with gorgeous views and wonderful swimming pool.
Cons: Room seemed to be a bit musty - mildew was beginning to form in bathroom - air conditioner unit had a musty odor. It was a very hot, humid weekend so perhaps the air filters needed to be checked, cleaned or replaced. The exhaust fan in bathroom and air conditioner unit did not keep humidity out of room or bathroom so nothing dried - towels, bathing suits.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Converted Classical/Victorian home, large rooms, quiet street w/short walk to Lenox Center. Delicious breakfasts. Family-owned/operated, lovely grounds to relax in. Short drive to Tanglewood.
Cons: Would have liked a ceiling or window fan for increased comfort but not a serious problem.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful home, beautiful people, beautiful surroundings, beautiful food.
Cons: Overhead fan in room didn't work if overhead light was turned off.
8.5 Excellent
Pros: Lovely old inn, very friendly staff
Cons: Needs a little updating. Fixtures like lamps, TV, WIFI, are below contemporary standards. Continental breakfast spread was ok, but "made to order" eggs arrived sans toast, meats or any sides. Seemed skimpy. I guess had I specifically asked for sides they would have made them, but in most places the host offers those as choices.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was well prepared, healthy, sumptuous and plentiful , set in an elegantly decorated dining room. The place is conveniently located near the town center where one can find restaurants, novelty shops , Christian churches and a park. The best part of our stay is meeting the owners of the inn ... Richard, Joan, and Lisa Mears. They are so gracious, warm, hospitable and very engaging in conversing with their guests. Their kindness and sincerity makes you feel like your family. We wish the Mears all the very best!
Cons: Everything was well thought out by the owners. I couldn't think of anything lacking in it. The place is unique, lovely, inviting and well-kept. It's a "home away from home". We fell in love with the place, most especially with the beautiful owners. Definitely a place worth going back to!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The gardens were beautiful and the rooms are filled with antiques.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: There's a library with sherry in a decanter for guests. A parlor with a baby grand that wasn't just for show. Rooms have private bathrooms. Central location, just off the street, but it has a very private feel surrounded by trees and great outdoor areas to sit and chat. Family owned and run by on-premise hosts full of good conversation and homemade breakfast in a gorgeous dining room.
Cons: The rooms are not updated with modern hotel furnishings and decor, if that's important to you. They match the age and atmosphere of the rest of the house and they're very clean and well-equipped.
7.9 Good
Pros: Whistlers inn is a little tired but still elegant. Steps getting in were a little tricky
Cons: Food. Outdoor have been on warming trays.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Lisa was very kind and attentive.
Cons: A real TV, a safer shower/tub-the handle in the tub was loose and mat in the shower was not secure.
7.9 Good
Pros: We had an excellent stay at Whistlers Inn. A beautiful Victorian home and perfect for a relaxing getaway. The breakfasts were Amazing!!
9.2 Excellent
Cons: The shower no pressure
7.9 Good
Pros: I liked the king size bed and the atmosphere. Conversations at breakfast were interesting.
Cons: Our original room was ridiculously small so we decided to pay the extra fee for a larger room. Maybe that room should have one twin size bed instead.

Pros: Great general manager, delicious breakfast, nice treats out all day and a very quaint place.
Cons: The beds were a little small for 3 people. The bathroom was very old, dirty curtains, shower curtain was dirty and old shower, and bathroom. Waiter at breakfast was rude and blunt

Cons: Nothing
9.6 Excellent
Pros: It’s location is excellent as is the available parking. The inn is old enough to have a story to tell. Fabulous omelette for breakfast. We were there for the Apple Squeeze so we got to sample the Village Inn apple turnovers. Star of the festival. Friendly staff.
Cons: Being a historic inn, our rooms proved compact- particularly the bathroom and shower area.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great location with fantastic restaurants in walking distance make the Village Inn a good choice. Complimentary hot breakfast to order was such a nice surprise! Comfortable bed and personable, helpful staff make this inn special.
Cons: Shower needs updating, I'm sure the new owners will get to this soon.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The free breakfast awesome and the staff was so friendly. Location is absolutely perfect and the price point was comfortable for us compared to other hotels in the area. Very quaint establishment.
Cons: The rooms are a little out dated. I know that's part of the charm, but it looked like some updating was going on so that's great. Also, a little map or something of where our room located that can be explained at check in would be helpful. But either way I look forward to staying there again.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was great - cook to order with many choices. Loved the original historic hotel / Inn look. Easy to get to with private parking. Water pressure and temperature in the shower was great.
Cons: Only issue was the height of the shower head as I am 6'5" tall and height was neck high.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Parking was great! Staff really made us feel welcomed. Tea,coffee and water were available 24 hours and breakfast was great.
Cons: O
6.0 Good
Pros: Room was pretty nice. Breakfast was enjoyable. Location was terrific. Desk clerk (Michelle) gave us great info about our dining options.
Cons: Servers at breakfast (Saturday morning) seemed a bit inept. We heard a lot of apologizing by both of them. Basic things like hot coffee and butter for toast should be automatic, not a special request. Our room was carpeted even though the bathroom had what looked like original wide plank wood floors. The toilet was nearly inaccessible, squeezed in close to the wall.
2.0 Mediocre
Pros: New mattresses are so comfy. Ambiance is quaint but not old. J the manager and Damon are wonderful assets. Hunter is just delightful. Liz at the desk is very helpful
Cons: One suggestion. Out of respect, install a dedicated spot light on the flag in the courtyard.
6.0 Good
Pros: Great location and friendly staff. A delicious breakfast was also a treat!
Cons: Very old building in need of massive renovation. Fortunately the new owners have begun major restoration

Pros: Great bed, beautiful room, super shower.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: The building itself is beautiful and its location is excellent with easy access to restaurants and shops in Lenox and beautiful views from the terrace. Rooms are large and comfortable, public spaces are inviting. Bartender was excellent.
Cons: Staff in the restaurant seemed inexperienced though polite. Dinner was adequate but could be at a higher level what with the setting and prices.

Cons: Nothing to complain about.

Pros: There was no meal because I reserved a 2BR apt and it has all we needed for our stay. The place is very neat, quiet, spacious and enough beds for everyone in my party. Just that one of the sofa bed has some stains on it but manageable. I will return again. The staff were helpful.

Pros: The lady at the front desk was exceptional. I don't recall her name. She has dark hair, a radiant smile and is older than she appears (37 if I recall correctly). Also, when we had a problem with the TV, it was attended to quickly and efficiently by the man working evenings.

5.0 Okay
Pros: Continental breakfast was nice. There was a variety of pastries, fruits, yogurt, and even some warm miso soup. The main mansion was an interesting place on the property.
Cons: This property is very run down. It is hard to find items that aren’t broken or heavily worn. The indoor pool was a selling joint for me when I booked our reservation. We visited the pool facility after breakfast. The paint in the pool itself is peeling. The sauna was set at a dangerously high temperature and there were used towels and someone’s underwear left inside. The rooms that appeared to be designated for massage were gross with a creepy vibe.
7.1 Good
Pros: The estate is absolutely gorgeous and tranquil. The view is breathtaking.
Cons: The service was mediocre. The staff is nice but things felt disorganized. Also, it’s not an eco-village.
7.5 Good

9.6 Excellent
Pros: The bed was fine but could have been more comfortable.
Cons: At night the property was very dark.. The property could use better lighting.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Bed was average, but the comforter and pillows were excellent. This is a beautiful 600 acre estate turned into a conference center.
Cons: They could have offered decaf coffee for the older crowd. Coffee was available in the afternoon but they took away the milk, which I can understand they didn't want it to spoil; still, I like my coffee with milk. They could have left packets of dairy creamer.
7.1 Good
Pros: Location, BR and bed were fine. Grounds are well kept. Tai-chi instruction in morning after the poor breakfast was very welcome.
Cons: Eggs & potatoes served as continental breakfast were ice cold. Excuses were weak. Attention to problem was non existent. Staff did little to address problems with bedroom windows until asked but they did provide solution.
