10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a beautiful mid-18th century house with well appointed common spaces, beautifully decorated rooms and fantastic amenities. The owners are lovely, engaging and very helpful.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: From the cozy decor to the scrumptious breakfasts, Birchwood Inn is one of a kind! Tom and Debbie, the innkeepers, serve up a warm, hospitable atmosphere from the moment you step out of your car. The location is just steps away from downtown Lenox. We walked to Tanglewood and enjoyed a concert there. We also paddle boarded at the Stockbridge Bowl and walked on the trails of the Mass Audobon's Pleasant Valley Wildlife Sanctuary. Brenda, their treasure of a cook, creates delicious breakfasts and baked goods that are fit for the gods! Finally, I must mention the sweet, homemade treats laid out for guests to nosh on any time of the day. A gem of a place!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Extremely well maintained Bed & Breakfast Inn of the Highest Calibre. Much though given to every little detail. Quite Perfected. Decanter of Sherry in the vast Library to boot!
Cons: The entry driveway is kind of narrow but that is about it. That Is a nit pick for sure.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was amazing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Birchwood Inn was charming and historical yet tasteful and modern in its amenities. The hospitality was truly excellent. My husband and I spent a night at the inn for our anniversary, and Tom was so welcoming and helpful. The breakfast was gourmet. Could not recommend more.
7.7 Good
Pros: The owner was very nice. The home is very comfortable. The location is great.
Cons: The furnishings need updating. The bedding needs updating with better quality pillows, down comforters, white duvets. Its a little old fashioned. Would like to see an updated kitchen and it would be helpful if the service understood the history of the home and surrounding areas. Would also be nice to have less sugary options for breakfast.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The BB was simply beautiful! The breakfast was outstanding—more like a five star hotel than a typical BB.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The inn is lovely. The grounds lush with flowers and trees. The front porch looks out on lovely gardens. Close walk to town, but not right in town, which is great. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Home baked goodies, eggs and fruit. Our room lovingly decorated and comfortable with all amenities. We will definitely stay at he Birchwood Inn again!

9.2 Excellent
Pros: I was hesitant when it was listed as two star, but our room had a great view of the mountain and a pond, was very clean, and the bed comfortable. The staff was just great!! With the money we saved, we were able to enjoy fine dining and other activities. I would stay there again.
Cons: Breakfast not the best, but on Saturday they offered made to order omelets.
8.0 Excellent
Cons: The bathroom in our room was absolutely gross.
5.7 Okay
Cons: Dated. Separate rooms (different building) from pool. Not described
7.4 Good
Pros: Perfect for a one or two night stay. The room ammenities in the adjacent building to the main Inn are small and older yet the rooms were clean. The hot tub and indoor pool were well kept and appreciated prior to my half marathon race in Tanglewood. The staff was accomodating however they neglected to provide me with a requested wake up call. The complimentary coffee and tea was a nice touch and the gal tending bar could not have been nicer or more insightful.
4.8 Okay
Cons: Significantly overpriced for what it offered!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beds were comfy with white duvets. Towels were plentiful. Coffee, hot water and iced water at the lobby. Fresh apples too.
Cons: I liked everything . Might be nice to have a room or two for pets.
7.9 Good
Pros: the omelet's where great.
Cons: could hear the door from downstairs but not overly loud.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean room and friendly staff
6.3 Good
Pros: Honestly this Inn was chose because it offered great breakfast, a jacuzzi/pool, and free parking. It was also only 10 minuets from why we came.
Cons: Had to walk 500 ft outside and in the cold for breakfast/use pool.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I liked the following : received text prior to check in telling me room was ready, staff very friendly and went out of way when they learned we ate at particular restaurant about the special relationship they have with them and suggested we could go back with hotel receipt for discount, rooms clean, comfortable beds with enough pillows, but mostly loved the family vibe you got from staff. You knew they cared.
Cons: Nothing bad to say
10.0 Excellent
Pros: My stay at Yankee Inn was exceptional! From the warm and friendly greeting of Mary & at the front desk, using their beautiful salt water pool a few times & the delicious breakfast with Kelly's great service, everything was very pleasurable and I will certainly return in the future. Yankee Inn was outstanding in my book! This location is close enough to Norman Rockwell Museum to take a scenic drive there! Thank you for making my birthday getaway grand!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was super friendly. We arrived early with friends and asked about possibly upgrading both rooms to the main building and they gave us a great deal for 2 rooms close together. The breakfasts offered custom omelets plus the usual fixings and more. It was very good! The whole place was clean and friendly and we will certainly return!
Cons: This is not about the hotel per se, but it was a holiday weekends with lots of kids. We did complain about the kids on the 2nd floor running and stomping their feet well into the early hours of the morning. This is something the parents should have controlled. The Yankee Inn apologized and stated they did speak to the kids and parents multiple times, but got no results. To us on the first floor, it sounded like a herd of elephants above us. Either better behaved kids, or better expression to those staying above or put those with kids in the other building and adults only in the main building or more sound deadening material between the floors. This is our only complaint. Otherwise was an excellent stay.

Cons: The entry and hallways in the lodge building smell a little musty.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Sharon was incredibly kind ,accommodating and truly hospitable. We literally felt at home. So was Mary. Even the lady that fixes the room, Carla was wondrous. I would go back in a heartbeat. So grateful to have found this treasure. Cynthia
6.0 Good
Pros: Breakfast
Cons: Smell, linens
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Decor many antiques great breakfast pleasant people working there. Bed comfortable heat/cooling efficient. Very close to Kirpalu price good.
Cons: Musty smell. Old mansion but clean
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful breakfast and location. Practically across the street from Tanglewood. The historic main house is well appointed and tasteful.
Cons: We did not like the second building as much as the main house, and had to change our room. The second building needs serious updating. Perhaps hard wood flooring, window treatments, and central air. The hallways were cold and bare. Once we switched to the main house we were happy with the room-but not sure we would have liked the second building if that was all that was available.
4.2 Okay
Pros: I liked the idea of staying in a quaint B&B in Lenox where I was spending the weekend. It looked quite idyllic from the photos.
Cons: I booked a room online believing that it was in the antique home - the one showed in the photos . Instead .. upon my arrival I was told my room was in the building out back. The building was really depressing to walk into . It didn’t have 1 ounce of charm anywhere. My room was dark and it felt like it had not seen the light of day nor any fresh air in years. I couldn’t even crack a window. This was a far cry from what I was expecting. I cut my weekend short because I couldn’t bear to return to that building and room after the first night. A real downer . I kind of wish I had taken photographs to share but I didn’t.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Charming inn perfectly situated to attend events at Tanglewood. Beautifully appointed with Victorian antiques. Very clean. And such a comfortable bed! Amy, the innkeeper, is welcoming and easy to work with.
Cons: Breakfast was the only disappointment-- for the cost, it should have been a bit more creative than mediocre scrambled eggs, fresh fruit and standard cereals and breads.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location can't be beat. Breakfast was excellent. Was not aware not all rooms had TVs. We were out most of the time and I didn't notice that when I made the reservation but it was a surprise.

Extremely comfortable rooms with great cosy ambience in an interesting property. Fantastic location - just a couple of minutes walk from shops and town. Terrific breakfast eg fruit crisp, fruit pastries, eggs, cereal etc - the works! Afternoon cakes and tea etc a real treat!
Cons: Bathroom a bit small but functioned well and had everything needed.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very interesting house to stay in. With all it’s history and antiques. Owners were very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Nice breakfast and easy walk into town
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful home, beautiful people, beautiful surroundings, beautiful food.
Cons: Overhead fan in room didn't work if overhead light was turned off.
8.5 Excellent
Pros: Lovely old inn, very friendly staff
Cons: Needs a little updating. Fixtures like lamps, TV, WIFI, are below contemporary standards. Continental breakfast spread was ok, but "made to order" eggs arrived sans toast, meats or any sides. Seemed skimpy. I guess had I specifically asked for sides they would have made them, but in most places the host offers those as choices.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was well prepared, healthy, sumptuous and plentiful , set in an elegantly decorated dining room. The place is conveniently located near the town center where one can find restaurants, novelty shops , Christian churches and a park. The best part of our stay is meeting the owners of the inn ... Richard, Joan, and Lisa Mears. They are so gracious, warm, hospitable and very engaging in conversing with their guests. Their kindness and sincerity makes you feel like your family. We wish the Mears all the very best!
Cons: Everything was well thought out by the owners. I couldn't think of anything lacking in it. The place is unique, lovely, inviting and well-kept. It's a "home away from home". We fell in love with the place, most especially with the beautiful owners. Definitely a place worth going back to!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: There's a library with sherry in a decanter for guests. A parlor with a baby grand that wasn't just for show. Rooms have private bathrooms. Central location, just off the street, but it has a very private feel surrounded by trees and great outdoor areas to sit and chat. Family owned and run by on-premise hosts full of good conversation and homemade breakfast in a gorgeous dining room.
Cons: The rooms are not updated with modern hotel furnishings and decor, if that's important to you. They match the age and atmosphere of the rest of the house and they're very clean and well-equipped.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owners, Joan and Richard Mears, with their daughter Lisa, have created a magical place. From the moment we walked in we were greeted with beauty; from the outside entrance with the flowered trellis, to coming into the space. It felt like walking into another time. The room was lovely as was the rest of the house. My husband was even able to play the beautiful piano in the music room. The breakfasts were great and every time, there was someone interesting to talk to including the Mears. Lisa was very helpful in letting us know the vibe of Lenox and pointed us to great restaurants and Berkshire interests. We’ll definitely go back. True magic!
Cons: We loved everything about the property. Nothing was out of place.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful Inn with a great location and walking distance to town.
Cons: The electric needed to be updated.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Lisa was very kind and attentive.
Cons: A real TV, a safer shower/tub-the handle in the tub was loose and mat in the shower was not secure.
9.2 Excellent
Cons: The shower no pressure

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful property
Cons: Unfortunately construction underway
8.0 Excellent
Pros: If you are in Western MA seeing a show at Tanglewood, this place is in a great location for that.
4.6 Okay
Pros: Room was not totallyready coffee maker had used grounds in it. Bed sheets were not fully in place leaving 15 percent of mattress exposed not enough towels for 2 people also only 1 chair in room with no desk bath room water not hot enough
Cons: Every thing above in what you liked thought I was reporting what I didn’t like the thing I did like was the jacuzzi also didn’t like the TV reception
7.0 Good
Pros: Spectacular location at one of the grandest "cottages" remaining in the Berkshires. A 5 minute drive to downtown Lenox. Delicious brunch. The bathroom in our room was newly renovated and luxurious. Good service.
Cons: The main building of Cranwell is breathtaking, and the prices are what you would expect to stay in such a historic and beautiful place. However, our room was in an adjacent building, circa 1963. It was pretty nice, but definitely more like what I would expect for $300 rather than $500. Perhaps on their website they make it more clear that you aren't staying in the main house, but booking through Kayak I was surprised to get less than I thought I'd paid for. I found the walls to be pretty thin in the building we stayed in (Founders).
5.4 Okay
Pros: Good mattress but wrong size sheet that did not stay on mattress.proerty
Cons: Property under major construction. Not too noisy but place is a mess .continental breakfast was very sparse and not up to standard for a resort of this caliber. Air conditioner stopped at 11pm along with bedroom lights that could not be fixed until am.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Nice room if I wanted to stay at a chain motel
Cons: Said that they were renovating but it more like a construction site
7.1 Good
Pros: Close to all of the places we wanted to visit.
Cons: The bar in the mansion was not open on Sunday evening
5.8 Okay
Pros: Beautiful location, comfortable rooms.
Cons: Arrived late and the staff seemed tired and annoyed that I had used a third party site. The receptionist was not sure how to set up the reservation and had difficulty hiding her annoyance. It was not directed at me personally but I still felt bad about it. The facility is under construction and the workers started running chainsaws and other equipment at 8 in the morning. Stairs in the carriage house are out of order due to construction which seems like a safety concern.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Although there is a lot to be done, you can see how beautiful it will be. The Manor takes you back in time. Elegant design, wonderful food and the people who work there could not have been nicer or,more helpful. Our room which had two queen beds an a huge bathroom that you could dance in.
Cons: I wish the indoor pool and the spa were open.THAT would have my stay, unfortunately,I had some great photos, but my husband inadvertently deleted them. ARG
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Cranwell was amazing place alot of history and the grounds were beautiful
Cons: No
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Complimentary breakfast was excellent. Good options for a quick breakfast. The view from the dining area on the deck was amazing.
Cons: The property is undergoing major renovation. It was not a problem for this trip, but be aware that it will greatly impact your ability to get around the property during the construction. Eventually it will make the property much better.

Cons: nothing
4.0 Okay
Pros: The general manager was very accommodating and helpful, and it's a great location right in the town center. The room was clean, the free breakfast was basic fare, and the serving staff were attentive and pleasant.
Cons: Our room sorely needs a complete renovation. It was clean, basic, functional accommodations, but more like a non-chain roadside motel, than an inn in the heart of the Berkshires. We did not stay the 2nd night and found other accommodations that met our expectations.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Site was centrally located in relation to our needs - we found the manager who greeted us very personable and approachable and his staff were equally polite and attentive.
Cons: We had no issues to report or consider in relation to our stay

Pros: The breakfast and the location
Cons: The television was not working. The bathroom was really small. Would have liked two pillows each because the pillows were very flat.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The staff was friendly and accommodating! The bed was comfortable and breakfast was good!
Cons: Some of the furniture was dated.
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: Manager was excellent and upgraded my room
Cons: The hotel is falling apart. There is one entrance that is usable. My room seriously needed a plumber. The parking lot in back of the hotel needs to be paved and the back of the hotel tells the story of the need for major refurbishing or to be torn down.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Charming inn with personalized breakfast options
Cons: Our room was a somewhat small one. Needed a darker shade on the window next to the walkway as one of those lights shown right in our room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great breakfast, very quiet room. Bed was super comfortable. And the manager, Jay, was very personable and knowledgeable about the hotel and the surrounding area. I highly recommend this lodging.
Cons: Bathroom was really small.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast is excellent, location lovely
Cons: Bathrooms are clean and functional, but a bit old, but they are starting renovating all the bathroom very soon they told us.
6.0 Good
Pros: Great breakfast. Very friendly and helpful waitress. Very friendly & helpful host. Cosy & pretty communal areas.
Cons: Cannot reduce the bedroom's heating. Cannot open the windows at all. Opening the bedroom door to air the room and let in the cooler corridor's air failed to replace the lingering smell of the room. Bathroom could be cleaner.
6.0 Good
Pros: Great location and friendly staff. A delicious breakfast was also a treat!
Cons: Very old building in need of massive renovation. Fortunately the new owners have begun major restoration

Pros: The staff was welcoming. The room was immaculate and fresh. The bed was very comfortable and the shower awesome! How wonderful to have a little refrigerator and microwave available, too! Highly recommend! So close to many attractions.
Cons: Even though this motel is on a main thoroughfare, the sounds were blocked by the air conditioner and the stay was very restful. No problem with this motel. We would definitely stay here again!

Cons: For the price oval room there was really nothing to complain about

5.0 Okay
Pros: The location
Cons: The hotel room was in need of painting. The room was suppose to be non smoking yet there was an odor from cigarettes. I have asthma so I had a difficult time sleeping. The breakfast was not good, only 3 tables to sit at. would not go back again
6.0 Good
Pros: Value.
6.8 Good
Pros: Rooms were clean. Breakfast was OK - seemed to be right out of the freezer. Omelets, sausage, coffee, cold and hot cereal, bagels, mini-muffins, toast, OJ and apple juice.
Cons: I am a big man. Toilet is not made for a guy my size. Bed was uncomfortable - hard and lumpy. Handicapped rooms were closed for renovation.
4.0 Okay
Pros: Room was clean and cleaned well every day.
Cons: Breakfast left a lot to be desired, eggs tasted frozen, poor selection for toaster items, rubbery bacon, and very little room to sit. No one was in the office when we checked out (4:45), had to go back to the room and leave access cards on desk. The thing that was most disturbing was the total lack of USB plugs. We had to go to Walmart and buy a charging block for our devices.
7.5 Good
Pros: Proximity to the surrounding area
7.5 Good
Pros: Perfectly adequate
Cons: Not really in the town of Lenox - it was one town to the north
6.3 Good
Pros: Good location
Cons: We could not sleep because the radiator was very noisy.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Location, comfy bed, pool
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Like the location and staff very pleasant.
Cons: The breakfast was k.
6.0 Good
Pros: I was only staying in Lenox for a bike ride the next day. The hotel did live up to what I was expecting. I wasn't expecting a 5 star hotel, just a regular HoJos.
7.0 Good
Pros: Had everything I needed at a better price than any other place nearby.
4.2 Okay
Pros: The bedroom seemed clean and there was a decent amount of hanging space and an iron. The bed was huge and although very dated, there was a bath as well as a shower and plenty of towels.
Cons: It was very dated and in need of redecorating. All the paintwork was very worn, especially in the bathroom. The window was very small so the room was very dark. The breakfast was poor and in a very cramped area. The walls were thin and so it was noisy.

Cons: Nothing..everything good
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice staff, the cleanliness. The wonderful coffee !!! :-))))
7.5 Good
Pros: Convenient location close to Lenox with good value for money restaurants nearby
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Friendly helpful staff. Room was clean and fridge, microwave and coffeemaker all worked well. King sized bed was comfy enough. Shower and toilet both worked well too.
Cons: Better stocking of breakfast area. No fruit, except for 1 over ripe banana and a few apples one day and no fruit for the next two days. A better assortment of breads. They only had whole wheat and bagels. Some danish or muffins would be a nice addition. If you stay for 3 days, as we did, it’s nice to have a bit of a change every morning so you’re not eating the same thing everyday that you’re there. More variety would be nice.
4.0 Okay
Pros: Good location. Adequate Breakfast.
Cons: Old and poorly maintained. Shower drained extremely slow. Beds were old and very noisy.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: It was good value for money and there was a very good grocery store nearby where we were able to buy some food and cook it in the microwave in our room. The staff were very helpful
Cons: It was on a main road but that couldn't be helped.
1.0 Poor
Pros: Nothing, its far below expectations for a 2 star rating.lenox has much better 2 star hotels
Cons: Room is dirty, old, and does not meet a 2 star rating. It had a musty odor all the time. The microwave is so old. The fleece sheet is old and stained. They only give a shampoo, no lotion or conditioner. Towels are old and worn out. Worst hotel in Lenox

Overview Reviews
Located in Lenox, Knights Inn Lenox is a 5-minute drive from Bousquet Ski Area and 5 minutes from Shakespeare and Company. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. Free self parking is available onsite.
1.0 Poor
Cons: No one at desk at 11pm, door locked. sign had number to call for service, but message unavailable. If late check in is a problem, that should be more prominently listed. Had to get a room at similar place next door - they were staffed and checked us in
7.1 Good
Pros: Location
Cons: The mattress needs to be updated
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: Cheap
Cons: Wall floor and wood trim completely off ... there was two dead cockroaches outside the room and the bed felt like a jail cell bed. I had rather pay double the price for the next best hotel
9.0 Excellent
Pros: it was clean and Quite
Cons: All good
5.8 Okay
Pros: Lots of hot water for a great shower. Small room was up and away from street noise.
Cons: Room was cold as outside temps dropped overnite to below freezing and management on checking in, failed to advise us that the wall thermostat for the 3 baseboard heaters were not working. There was no room heat.! At checkout, we were told we should have used the air conditioning unit which had a heat button. That unit was next to bathroom but way across the room from beds. Would have been nice information.
6.7 Good
Pros: Large comfy bed
Cons: Old, dated and worn out interior
7.1 Good
Pros: Value for the money, but appeared to be about to scale after stating. Staff very friendly and assisting. Simplicity.
Cons: Pillows were poor quality and not enough (3 in kind size bed?) Paint over distressed areas and residual marks and possible mold in corners and baseboards. Had the feeling of lipstick on a pig.? Perhaps a work in process to raise standard. Breakfast very limited but staff very helpful.
6.0 Good
Pros: Location
Cons: Check seemed difficult.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Pleasant staff and clean room. Very easy to communicate. The staff goes above and beyond. I always choose Knights Inn.
Cons: Everything was great. I don't think anything could be better.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Staff are very nice and helpful. The room and linens & sheets were clean. Shower has good flow, water is hot.
Cons: Hole in the floor in corner of the room, tub surface feels uneven because of the vinyl recovering that was put on, beds are very hard, found an empty drink bottle on floor by the bed when we checked in, no weatherstripping at all on doorjamb, can see gaps in doorframe. Light fixtures are all very dusty. Driveway needs lights or reflectors, cannot see the entrances from the highway at night.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It is a clean, comfortable, quiet basic motel and the staff is very friendly and helpful. It is located next to a pharmacy, grocery store, laundry and a number of restaurants. Located less than 10 minutes from Pittsfield center.
Cons: Really no complaints, but remember it's a basic motel. There are no amenities be on room, no vending machines. If you need ice you have ask the office and remember office is closed at night. Fridge/micro in room but no coffee maker, I travel with my own.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Comfy, decent sized room, with microwave and fridge. We like that the bathroom has separate switches for the light and fan. Heavy blackout curtains for sleeping late.
Cons: No ice machine. We could get ice at the front desk, but it was closed by 11, and we twice got in later. Staff did a mediocre job of cleaning the room, especially the bathroom. Could have used a 2nd suitcase caddy...there are 2 of us, and thus 2 suitcases.
