Nice, quiet, with a surprising air of an oldtime hotel.
Located far away from everything useful. However the location was awesome for us since we wanted to be as near as possible to MPI-EVA
Awful service. We knew we would arrive after midnight, and since the reception is open until 22.00, we wrote a message saying we would be coming late. Upon arriving there was nobody at the reception, and when calling the reception and asking for help in english, the guy answering us said he didn’t speak english and hung up. This happend three times when we called. We then, as we had no choice, spoke to him in the small amount in german that we knew. He said we did not have a reservation and that he did not have any rooms avaliable (even though we did reserve and pay for two rooms). We argued for 20 minutes, and at the end he gave us two rooms. Absolutely awful. Who does not speak english as a worker in a hotel? Why was there nobody at the hotel? Who does hang up the phone to their guests and lies about there not being any rooms avaliable, when there were two rooms? I do not recomend this hotel to anyone.
We had an absolutely marvelous time. The great view from our room looking on the Völkerschlachtsdenkmal. The historic, with much love to detail newly refurbished hotel, originally opened on the same as zhe Völkerschlachtsdenkmal in 1813, reopened 2013, welcomes you with a unique and authentic charme.
Once more a pleasant stay there! A hotel not like every hotel. Shows, that it is possible to combine the style of 150 years ago with up to date facilities, except some noisy floor planks. But as you do not hear people from other floors.... I do not care!
Well, the room was not ideally formed, but possibilities to place a modern bath into an old building are limited...
