10.0 Excellent
Pros: I loooved the decor, it was such a beautiful place. Also when I got there the owner gave me a map and pointed out all the things I could do which was fantastic! My room was very comfortable also.
Cons: No dyeing while I was there! Although I didn't ask, completely forgot until I saw the pots by the kitchen the morning I was leaving haha, potentially it's something you have to request, but no biggie :)
8.3 Excellent
Pros: the location is close to tram station, walkable distance from shopping / dinning areas. A lot of good small restaurants in the streets around. Host is nice and speak english. He helped store our luggage after check out. Self-help kitchen available. Nice rooftop. Clean shower room. Fun decoration.
Cons: It would be an unrest night when someone snores a lot at night time/ turn on the light when everybody is sleeping (but one can pick single room to avoid this)
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Clean and clear shower room, no service towel, you could buy ,vender matchine.
Cons: Walking is difficult for me° , location is safe but not quite competitive the others

8.8 Excellent
Pros: It is a very convenient ryokan. Really nothing to complain about, ultra clean, very nice hosts always available. And the japanese breakfast was really good.
Cons: Climbing the steep stairs with a heavy luggage was quite tough. It is also a little bit far from the city center by walking
9.6 Excellent
Pros: breakfast is really worth the 700 yen, if I could’ve added dinner I would do that too. Owner is very welcoming, speaks English well and everything is clean. It is accessable by car but harder if you are taking public transit. There’s not many stores around either as its in a local residencial area.
Cons: no shower cap and comb
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The ryokan is well situated at 5 minutes from Shin-Suizenji station. The room is clean, very light and quiet. The breakfast was so delicious ans the owners so kind!
Cons: Nothing to dislike!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: We were allocated a larger room than originally booked as the large room was free so we appreciated the additional space. The en-suite facilities were accessed off our entry corridor. The Japanese breakfast was exceptionally tasty and beautifully presented.
Cons: The location is a little way out of the central town area but easily reached by the efficient tram system.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Simple but confortable ryokan, the owner was very king and the breakfast very good. Only negative point, the wifi was not working.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Room was comfortable for the four of us. Owner make the effort of warming up the room for us. Breakfast was superb. The owner only serve the soup & rice when we are seated at the dining table to ensure it’s warm. He also specially prepared ramen for my son, not just instant noodles. Lots of care & thoughtfulness. We had a great stay. Facilities were simple but we felt very comfortable. Great for family or group of friends. Will definitely come back again if we visit Kumamoto.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Osen was nice, the food was delicious and staffs were nice . We enjoyed ourselves during the stay !:)
Cons: Nil
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent breakfast, traditional Japanese style room with comfortable and clean sheets/futons. In a nice area of kumamoto with plenty of izakaya nearby!

7.5 Good
Pros: Good location clean and comfortable
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Staff were exceptionally polite and professional. When I asked the way to the nearby park, they even gave me the free entrance cards. Also for us (2 ADULT AND 1 2YO KID),we added a futon. Because the tatami area is connect with the bed area. So adding a futon simply give us huge space to sleep and I didn't need to worry my son falling down from the bed. They even have free spring (both public ones and family one).
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The beds and the bathroom facilities were excellent. The warm welcome and help with our taxi.
Cons: There was no restaurant in the hotel so even getting breakfast was a real problem. It is located right under the Kumamoto airport flight path so we had planes going over all the time.
7.0 Good
Pros: Very clean like most Japanese hotels, comfortable beds. Good breakfast and very high quality service at breakfast.
Cons: We are a group of three people, but the room is too small. Don’t think it’s value for money. No outdoor hot spring.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: We like almost everything here. Only the room is a little bit small as Japan standard. I stay with my wife and 4years old kid. I feel not so comfortable with two big luggage in the room. The location is really center. Free Noodle at night is really cool. Onsen is also the best above my expectation.
Cons: The size of the room could be bigger with this price.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Good location and comfortable room.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Lovely hotel. Great breakfast! Complimentary taxi to the trainstation ( pre arrange the night before.) Free washing machines ( need to pay only for dryers ) Complimentary drink after Onsen. Beautiful Onsen! Turned out to be one of the best hotels we stayed in in Japan.
Cons: Nothing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: 1. Very conveniently located - close to Kumamoto castle and shopping streets/centres. 2. While we did not partake in the complimentary beer and ramen, it is an excellent gesture on the part of the hotel. 3. The in-hotel onsen is well equipped and sufficiently large, though it can get crowded, especially after dinner. 4. Our room was one with a tatami area. Beds were excellent and firm as were the provided pillows. 5. Onsite parking was a breeze though lots are limited. There is a big carpark complex just across the hotel, though rates are different.
Cons: It is unfortunate that the smoking room located in the lobby was not well sealed off. This led to a very strong and pervasive smell of cigarettes in the small hotel lobby and the attached lounge/restaurant.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location and great breakfast. The shuttle arrangement is really helpful for the passenger to JR station.
Cons: The room is not very clean. Dust and small garbage left by the ex-guest was found in the TV cabinet. The room space is really too small.
7.9 Good
Pros: The Onsen is great and they offer additional services like a free beer after onsen or a free ramen soup after 9:30.
Cons: The rooms are tiny and you can only get into bed from 1 side

8.3 Excellent
Pros: The hospitality was great. When we checked-in we got a welcome drink and they explained to us where to find the next supermarket and where to go for delicious Ramen (or other dishes).
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Cozy and lovely guesthouse. We wish to stay again.
5.4 Okay
Pros: No breakfast offered.
Cons: Felt more like a hostel than a Ryoken. Owner frequently reminded us that we had to be out by 1000 in order for him to do cleaning. Overpriced for what it was.
7.5 Good
Pros: It was a typical japanese accomodation :) Great experience
Cons: The staff forgot my passport in the copy machine
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The owner explained everything very clearly upon checking in and gave suggestions around the area. The common kitchen was very clean. The toilet was very clean too.
Cons: The room was small. The futon was not comfortable. I find Matsumoto is quite an expensive city compared to other places that I’ve been to in Japan.
7.5 Good
Cons: No much isolation from one room to another. This is the only "minus" about this accomodation.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very convenient location, good facilities, very clean.
Cons: Bed against the wall!
6.0 Good
Pros: The room was slightly larger than some Japanese hotels. 2 windows. Good Wi-Fi. Place to store luggage. Near bus station. Near lots of shops & restaurants.
Cons: No safe. No comfy chair, no English TV channels, noisy air conditioning. Stained mattress protector. Hard bed. Breakfast choice very limited.
8.3 Excellent

Cons: Room was a little small but was fine.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Location was very central with paid parking nearby which the staff gave us a map to help us find it. While breakfast was a slightly different format that other places we stayed in Japan it was sufficient and reasonably priced.
Cons: Everything was as expected so nothing.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: High floor room gave us a good view to Sakura Machi shopping centre. Excellent service from staff!
Cons: Mattress was a little firm but that’s down to personal opinion.
K2 Hotel Shimotori - Kumamoto - Building
8
8.4 Excellent (1,176 reviews)
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The beds were quite confortable, and made fresh every day, the placement is great as it’s really in the heart of the busy nightlife neighborhood (even though you don’t hear any of the sound outside), and the staff was lovely and helpful (they kept our luggage in their locker for three days after we left the hotel)
Cons: It’s not the hotel’s fault, but the other guests can sometimes be noisy in the middle of the night (one rude guy decided to dry his hair at 2am for example). So if you’re sensible to sound or a light sleeper, this « capsule » hotel maybe isn’t ideal. Maybe go for a regular hotel (even though it’ll of course be more expensive)
7.9 Good
Pros: Friendly atmosphere at hotel and close to lots of nightlife and trams.
Cons: Minor thing. Another capsule hotel I stayed at had separate lockers for your luggage, a great idea. Unfortunately this one didn't. You could store luggage at the front desk.
7.0 Good
Pros: The capsules themselves are fairly large and I had no problem keeping my luggage inside and still having space. The location of the hotel is right off a shopping arcade so there are plenty of dining options around and despite being in a lively area, noise was not an issue inside the hotel. Appreciated being able to leave my large luggage at the front desk before check in. Staff is very friendly!

6.7 Good
Pros: Public bath was good and clean. Breakfast spread is good. Located opposite a family mart/ seven eleven but quite a challenge to locate the property as it is in some small road.
Cons: We booked a non smoking room for family of 5 back in August. But was only told upon check in that non smoking room was not available. We have a young toddler. This was a concern for us. Front desk staff can speak Mandarin but he was not equipped with basic knowledge of the hotel eg. Location of hotel in the map, restaurant nearby....
8.0 Excellent
Pros: In house onsen bath is a bonus and the staff are friendly.
Cons: Breakfast buffet have limit choice and not value for the amount paid

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Okay, clean room, quick services.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything is fantastic about this hotel.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was good and had everything we needed. We were only there one night so can't really judge the hotel facilities. The castle was still closed and we were there to watch rugby. Would have been good to explore more. Quite location.
Cons: The entrance looks a little tired compared to the inside of the hotel.
6.3 Good
Pros: Location was quite good although still a reasonable walk into town, the room was OK but not great, on arrival we asked to get a room with a view of the Castle but the reception staff didn't seem to be able to deal with this request, not because the hotel was busy but because a room had already been allocated and they couldn't be bothered to change the room.
Cons: Generally, not a great hotel.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: 1. Location, Perfect place morning run around Kumamoto Castle. Superb view of sunset. 2. Room 3. Staff, pleasant service 4. Good price
Cons: 1. Breakfast
5.8 Okay
Pros: It is quiet
Cons: Very disappointed, after confirming the price of the reservation when we arrived, the hotel increased it when we checked out. After the earthquake of 2016 the castle was severely damaged, and is still in reconstruction. There is very few difference between the two sides but the price. The rooms are a little bit old fashion
7.0 Good
Pros: The room was bigger than most rooms in japanese hotels are. The hotel is as close to the castle as you could be.
Cons: The hotel lacks character. It's pretty big, but there is no atmosphere. I picked it because of the proximity to the castle. - unfortunately the castle is under construction and closed most of the time because of the earthquake that hit it a couple of years ago. :(
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The view of the castle was great, although the reconstruction scaffolding and cranes do detract. The beds were quite comfortable and the heated mirror that didn’t fog up was nice.

6.7 Good
Pros: Great location next to the castle and very central, decent breakfast and friendly service. Fair amount of English spoken.
