9.6 Excellent
Pros: This is a wonderful hotel in the heart of East Africa. The staff, service, ambiance and amenities are world class.
Cons: For a 5 star hotel it would have been nice to have a free hotel shuttle to the airport. Instead you have to pay for a private car.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: It was a very comfortable hotel, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The gym was fantastic and the hotel facilities and premises were wonderful.
Cons: The only thing I didnt like is that there was no hot water at night. It was always luke warm and in the mornings it took ages to warm up. The water leaked from the shower to toilet room and would make the whole toilet floor wet.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic hotel with great ambiance and very attentive staff.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Staff & their dedication
Cons: The light is too dimmed
Overview Reviews
The Resort is styled to replicate the lines of a classically rustic Roman Villa which might just as easily standamid the sunflowers of the Tuscan Hills, as on the shores of Africas largest lake. This resort will offer both a contrast and an extension to the 5-star profile of the flagship Kampala Serena Hotel, thus ensuring that the Serena Portfolio embraces all the aspects of Ugandas social and cooperate life. Future developments on the property include a golf-course, marina and luxury residential complex.Rising on gentle slopes above the marina with long views across the lush greens to Lake Victoria beyond, the hotel itself has been styled to echo an Italian palace with its campanile, glittering mosaics, rustically arched pool terrace and shaded colonnades. Set within the grounds, amid water cascades and fountains, is a Roman coliseum, which offers the ultimate wedding or event arena. And, widely spaced amongst the shaded pathways of the gardens, clusters of pastel-painted villas house the rooms, all of which enjoy panoramic views across the Marina to the hazy expanses of Africas second largest lake.

Featured amenities include limo/town car service, express check-in, and express check-out. Guests may use a roundtrip airport shuttle for a surcharge, and free self parking is available onsite.
7.1 Good
Cons: The bed was broken. The staff couldn’t do anything on the first night, but changed the bed the next day. A hotel of this standard should have quality assurance of all room facilities prior to guest check in. The smoke alarm battery died during the night and woke me up at 6am - not ideal for a weeknend trip. Regular maintenance would avoid such a situation.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The green plants around the room, the very friendly staff and the nice comfy bed
Cons: No dental care facilities in the room, no body lotion
9.6 Excellent
Cons: I don't understand why they had to have the grass cut at 7am outside the room! It was crazy noisy and made me very allergic.

9.4 Excellent
Pros: room, although a bit small was fine menu for lunch and dinner fine, good quality very friendly staff
Cons: no small bites on the menu, would be an improvement split the menu in breakfast/lunch and drinks/dinner
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The staff is sincerely welcoming and try to assist in any way they can.
Cons: The room doesn't have a hair dryer. Also, you can't have an iron, they will iron it for you, yet sometimes it's just a small crease that you need to iron out.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Nice place and a nice location. The coffee was excellent and the food was pretty good. I enjoyed myself.
Cons: The room was a little dark and gloomy and the wifi a bit patchy.
7.5 Good
Pros: Apart from the room and bathroom being very small, I always like staying at Villa Kololo because of the lovely antique furniture and the distance to the restaurant.
7.5 Good
Pros: The rooms are neat and clean, the staff is very helpful. In itself a nice place if they manage to keep the noise out
Cons: Very, very noisy as in the middle of night club area and no insulation or sound proofing of the room at all. Adjacent to a backpacker hostel as well. Air conditioning maintenance was done with us occupying the room instead of in between guests with no supervision of the worker and our belongings.
7.9 Good
Pros: Authentic homely feel, welcoming staff.
Cons: Traffic on John Babiiha Avenue made moving around difficult.
7.1 Good
Pros: The restaurant (while also pretty dim) is good. Salad ok, Pizza delicious and in authentic Italian style.
Cons: We booked a family room (sleeping options for 4 people). When we arrived we were checked into a small, standard double room (1 king size bed). Worst room in the hotel, ground floor right behind the reception. I asked the manager if that was the family room. He said yes. After a little discussion (how exactly can 4 people fit in there) he admitted that it was indeed not the room we booked. He went to get the keys for the other room. I heard him hiss "a family room for just two people... tsss". Yeah thanks. The family room itself was ok, with the exception of the lighting. My SO had to use his mobiles flashlight to read because it was THAT dim.

Cons: All was great.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: This is a very modern and high comfort hotel; mainly for international business travelers. The rooms are very well equipped and stylish. The location is also great (awesome view from the top). If you want international high quality standard - that's your place.
Cons: The hotel meets international standards but is not very "authentic" and has no real African feeling. It could also stand in Asia, America and Europa and you would not hardly notice. So don't expect an Ugandan experience there. Also, the staff at reception was sometimes not very welcoming.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Cleanliness and serenity in a busy Kampala
Cons: Breakfast was terrible
10.0 Excellent
Pros: New amenities, comfortable rooms and excellent breakfast
Cons: Noise from traffic can be heard on the 3rd floor. Recommend rooms on higher floors

6.7 Good
Cons: When you decide to prolong your stay, the staff at the reception keep bothering you of the bill. I was woken up in my sleep to be told that the Front Manager is annoyed because you didn’t pay today’s bill (at 2pm). I told them I will pay when checking out but they kept bothering me until I cut-short my sleep and walk to the reception. I didn’t like that.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Peaceful place to stay in m midst of busy work week
Cons: Many TV channels without sound
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Staff friendliness. Cleanliness. Spacious. Swimming pool. Gate entrance security. Food choices and quality were excellent.
Cons: The hotel took the money from the visa card that was used for booking on the same day that we arrived without our knowledge, rather than on the checkout day. This denied us the option to settle our bill in the local currency which would have saved us a 5% visa payment charge that the hotel imposed on us. Adding approximately an extra 100€. This practice is unfair and must be ilegal.

Pros: The pool
Cons: My luggage went missing. Suspect it was stolen, the hotel was not very forthcoming to check the CCTV. A lot of jazz about the server being down (after 3 days of checking) nothing was resolved. I’m appalled at this service, and very surprised that this happened in such a reputable establishment!! Worse still I didn’t feel valued and the communication was terrible!! I wouldn’t recommend this place.

Pros: The property and its location were great. It's rather quiet, though small training workshops are held at Arcadia on most weekdays. The bed is comfortable and the staff is helpful.
Cons: The internet is a major issue and was sporadic in quality. This may have been an issue limited to my room/floor, but it was definitely an issue that needs to be addressed. 10.0 Excellent
Pros: Maybe I’m cheating a bit by reviewers it twice but I feel this place deserves a higher rating. Obviously the renovations were effective and the place looks lovely and is atmospherically decorated in a local style. Loved the pool and staff is amazing. We stayed here twice during our stay. At the start and at the end. We loved it!!
6.7 Good
Pros: Fast check-in, quiet place and fairly modern
Cons: Breakfast quiet simple (eggs to order, but bread was stale). No lighting at stairs when you have to go to your room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Calm place to stay in a somewhat hectic city. Loving the pool area. Staff was super nice and helpful.
Cons: Nothing to dislike.
6.0 Good
Pros: Location and price were great. The hotel was secure (gated and guarded). The check in process was smooth and receptionist friendly. The room (stayed in 16) had a fairly nice view and was furnished nicely and was clean.
Cons: The bed was very uncomfortable. I prefer a firm mattress but this was almost unbearable. The wifi was painfully slow. I would have been better off tethering my phone to my friends using the local 3G network. The TV had six channels...of the six, three were soccer, one was news, and two were nothing. I did receive a notice under the door on the last day saying there was "technical problems" but it still sucked. I wouldn't have needed the TV, but it rained for a good portion of the morning and I would have liked to relax to the TV. Also, the TV was painfully small. Like a 20" screen quite far from the bed. The a/c was quite loud at times, but nothing that would prevent one from sleeping. I think my biggest frustrations (aside from the mattress )was the lack of hot water on the last day...semi forgivable because it's Africa, but still. And lastly, the location of the room was awful. It was adjacent to the stairway that lead to the lower rooms, and I could hear every person stomping up and down the stairs, as well as the staff cleaning the grounds.
5.4 Okay
Pros: The staff were quite good and pleasant to relate with, Denis at the restaurant was quite helpful in stay back to make sure I get dinner when it was past due time.
Cons: There was apparently a disconnect somewhere because I arrived late at night and was given a room with a faulty air conditioner! A portable type placed in the room before my arrival indicated the knowledge of the bad AC in the room, but the portable type did not work, so I ended up opening the window to let cool air into the room. I rejected an offer of $20 discount and requested a 50% reduction in room rate for the first night. I was moved into another room the next morning, but the AC in the new room was freezing up after working for a while. I switched it off and all the ice melted into the room beside the bed! It was a horrible experience that I have never had in my over 20 years of international travel! I definitely will not be staying at this facility ever again.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Rooms were very nice, the entire environment is lovely. Parking in front of the resort is no problem. It was easy to feel well there. The open space is great. You always find a nice place to sit.
Cons: Breakfast was very limited, and lunch took very long even I asked before how long it might take (took 2-3 times as long as predicted). One should not walk outside after 6:30 PM at night, too dangerous because of the dark corners around the golf club - but luckily there is Uber in Kampala which worked great.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Water pressure very weak. Not close to town. Cannot walk to dangerous. Food average nothing special.
Cons: Needs a revamp money spent on facilities Water pressure is crap. Beds like planks Staff friendly. However it’s very basic for the cost.
