+ Very friendly and helpful staff. + Breakfast in the Casbah Cafe across the street was delicious. The vouchers you receive from the hostel are for a pretty basic breakfast, but you can order other stuff off the menu and the prices are decent. + Good location. Most areas of interest (Jaffa, Beach, Carmel Market, Rothschild Ave.) can be reached on foot, but some could be some 30-40 minutes walking away. Lots of restaurants and bars in the immediate area. + The private room we had was spacious, clean and the bed was comfortable + WiFi connection was good.
- Every Thursday night is a party night at the hostel. Bring earplugs if you don't plan on staying up too late. The parties tend to go up until 2 am. - Not much of a view from the windows - Breakfast vouchers will only get you a coffee/tea and a sandwich or croissant.
The location is excellent--near good restaurants and shops on Jaffa Road and close to Jaffa Gate. The tour to Mea Shearim was wonderful. Shahar is a fabulous tour guide! He is a student of Israeli history and obviously loves his subject. We would have loved to have taken more tours with him, but unfortunately our schedule didn't allow. Because bookings were down (due to coronavirus scares), we got a private tour. The breakfast was also very good and I even got a shashuka sauce recipe from the chef. :
The rooms are quite small, but that's to be expected so close to the old city of Jerusalem. On our last two days, the only room available was a gallery double, which included a couch, mini-fridge, and bathroom downstairs, with a spiral staircase to the two beds upstairs. Great room and well worth the extra $$.
Great lobby with pub, terrace, comfy beds.
Traffic noise during the night (room with windows to the main street).
Amazing breakfast, close to the old city.
No soap in the bathroom.
Great location to discover the city, helpful and friendly stuff. They organise events like beer tasting.
rooms are a bit dark since some of them face the inner court.
