A beautiful and historic hotel right by the Jaffa Gate in the Old City of Jerusalem, across the street from the Tower of David a short walk from the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, the Western Wall, and the Temple Mount. Also easy access to Mamila Mall and West Jerusalem beyond. Friendly welcoming staff and lovely traditional decorations. Decent breakfast and free coffee round the clock. Decent value for money, particularly given the excellent location. Delightful cafe on the first floor. Various illustrious guests stayed there, including Kaiser Wilhem II and General Allenby.
I have no real complaints, just to say that it is not a 21st century hotel. The rooms were basic and the hotel is not the height of luxury or modern convenience, but that is because it is a charming old building from the 19th century. Rooms were clean but basic, with small beds and bathrooms and thin walls. The building could use a renovation, but there wasn't anything wrong with it.
Very Good Location
The breakfast was great and the location was perfect.
Rooms were extremely small - be prepared to carry your luggage (no Porter service) up a few set of steps, and this hotel has about three different names so it's confusing if your first in the area.
The property is a museum of its own. Great friendly environment. Staying here you will feel the ancient inside the walls of Jaffa gate, and the new out side the gates at the modern Mamella mall.
The good friendly and generous staff. Always happy to help
