The staff was very attentive. They even drove us to the station, made sure we made it on the bus and asked the bus driver to look after us and make sure we got off at the right stop.

9.6 Excellent

9.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful ryokan - rooms seemed to be recently refurbished, very clean and comfortable. Breakfast and dinner were both delicious. Excellent service. The onsens were small but clean. Cool attractions nearby within walking distance.
Cons: None!
7.0 Good
Pros: The dinners were delicious. I didn't quite like the breakfasts but that could be a matter of taste as the breakfasts they offered were really traditional Japanese breakfasts. Free coffee and massage chair at the lobby.
Cons: This ryokan is very expensive for what it offers and I have stayed in ryokans with the same price range but offering so much more. - The yukatas that females could select during check-in were very disappointing as most of the designs were boring and the yukatas looked old and tired. It was mentioned that the yukatas could be worn outside the ryokan but it's really not suitable for that purpose. The fake bow for the obi was also kitsch. - Communication issues with the staff. I could tell he tried his best to speak through a translation bot on his phone but it did get pretty frustrating at times. Also, he kept recommending taxis for transportation when we wanted to enquire about bus routes. - Public bath was really small, lighting too dim and not well equipped with amenities. At the price I'm paying I would've expected that towels be provided at the bath instead of us having to use the towels from our own rooms. - Limited timings for dinner and breakfast. There was only 1 timing for breakfast at 7.30am which felt rather late to me.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Traditional Japanese styles dinner and breakfast were amazingly delicious! Some of dishes gave you surprise. The staff were incredible! They are super nice and helpful, especially the lady who serves us for breakfast and dinner. Although we spoke difference language, she still try hard to communicate with us by using mobile translation apps. Finally we could talk happily. Stay in Taizanso made us feel so peace and relax.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: - Traditional Japanese styles dinner and breakfast were amazingly delicious! Various of dishes, all yummy and elaborate. I couldn’t help and finished all
Cons: - It is always not easy for traditional home style small Japanese hotel to provide special diet meals, but if you are normal diet guest, you will enjoy it sooooo much !
9.0 Excellent
Pros: I wanted a Ryokan in Izu that I could stop over at between Tokyo and Kyoto, this place delivered nicely and I was very glad to not see another non-Japanese person during my whole stay in the lovely town. The baths are wonderful and the staff and meals were friendly and enormous, respectively :)
Cons: Nothing

The ryokan is located in the center of Shuzenji Onsen town, close to several tourist attractions where you could explore the rich history of Shuzenji area.

Pros: Inner garden and ponds, all traditional wood and paper construction, with small bridges and passages. The bath facilities are great and the level of service is high.

Ishinoya - Izu - Building
12
8.9 Excellent (170 reviews)
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Quaint and peaceful. Wonderful landscape. Love the sounds of water and nature.
Cons: None so far. I did expect the place to be quiet.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were courteous. Most spoke English well enough to explain the services and the food. I did have to use Google Translate with the reception staff at one point, but that was fine. The suites were built in the 1940s, although the bathrooms and fixtures have been renovated for modern standards. They've maintained the older Japanese architecture, including the sliding doors and wooden floors under tatami. The atmosphere of the ryokan buildings and the gardens is amazing, it really feels like traditional Japan. The second floor suite had a great view of the Japanese garden on side and an amazing view of the city on the other side. The dinner and breakfast kaiseki was great, delicious and filling. The presentation of each dish was beautiful. Dinner was served in the dining hall, but you have a private booth to yourself. There are two public onsen, and they switch between male/female usage everyday. The hot spring water is at 40C, and it was a great experience enjoying the bath in cooler November weather.
Cons: Location. The ryokan runs a shuttle between the ryokan and Izu Nagaoka train station, but the reservation times are limited. I don't know if you can arrange for a shuttle outside of the reservation slots. Wifi did not work at the second floor suite.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Good dinner and breakfast Warm and clean hot spring, public bath
Cons: Hard to know about the food information, if there were English guide about dishes it will perfect service.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything just perfect.
7.9 Good
Pros: All you can imagine about japanese tradition. Tipical garden, tipical room, tipical onsen.
Cons: Nobody speak english. I found an insects infestation near my bed before get to sleep, but there was nobody to the reception. In general the structure is very clean, so I Think it was an isolate case.
10.0 Excellent

Cons: Nothing
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff. Very nice onsen. The dinner is well worth it.
Cons: A bit out of the way but that’s kind of expected.

Cons: Taking into account of the price charged, the dinner can be improved
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Good meal and friendly staff. Equipped with private onsen bath room (quite tiny bath tooth but it's ok). The garden is beautiful.
Cons: The shuttle bus will not wait at the stop unless you book one in advance. The traffic from train stop to the hotel is a little bit confusing.

Shirakabeso - Izu - Bedroom
14
8.8 Excellent (246 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Welcome to the Amagi hot spring village, an old, nostalgic woodland of the past. We are a hot spring resort proud of our megalith and giant tree open-air bath, flowing 100% direct from the source. In November 2013, we renovated our guest rooms with semi-open-air baths that command a view of a clear stream. We would be honored if you would enjoy the views of Amagi's clear streams and mountains from these open-air baths.
4.6 Okay
Pros: This hotel is very run down and doesn’t look anything like the website. I would pay about $120 per night to stay there, but they charge over $700 per room. That is insanity. I will save the Hot Springs are nice, but everything else was a total catastrophe. I would not recommend this place to anyone and I will never go back there. PS this is the first review I’ve ever written about a hotel my experience was that Memorable.
7.1 Good
Pros: Fantastic building with great food.
Cons: Virtually no one speaks English.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I loved everything about this place! The public baths were wonderful and scenic (i watched mist rise from the mountains in the morning as i soaked in a giant stone tub). The rooms were clean and spacious. The food was local, traditional and very tasty. The staff were also super friendly and helpful, they even drove us to a local attraction in the morning. Yeah, it was far, but i consider it a benefit as you are surrounded by nature. Highly recommend for a romantic weekend!
