7.9 Good
Pros: very zen ambience, super friendly staff that are mostly seniors and very attentive. We stayed with 2 young children and the lady who attended to us was very nice and gave my kids toys whenever they were cranky. The ryokan is also within walking distance to the main attractions in shuzenji like bamboo forest and shuzenji temple which was great for a morning walk. We also love it that they provide traditonal yukata for the whole family including the kids. Ladies could also choose from a nicer range of yukatas available to wear outside of the hotel. in-room dining is definitely worth the money spent. Breakfast and dinner were served keiseke style and very delicious. The senior staff know very little english but had translation apps to communicate with us. Overall we are very impressed with the service and food served. We hope all the staff are safe and sound after the recent typhoon.
Cons: In room bath was a bit disappointing. But it was alright, my kids enjoyed it.

Pros: Ochiairo Murakami is very traditional with a touch of modern which I really enjoyed. The baths were lovely and very relaxing. We had them to ourselves which was nice. The food was amazing. The staff was very attentive. They even drove us to the station, made sure we made it on the bus and asked the bus driver to look after us and make sure we got off at the right stop.

6
9.2 Excellent (144 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Enjoy relaxing and leisurely time in Amagiji, hearing the chattering sound of Kano River and surrounded by clear air. Amagi is famous for star-filled night sky.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was my favourite accommodation in my two weeks in Japan. I felt like I visiting family that I had not met before. This feeling lasted from the time I enter until I was walked out the front door at my departure. I had not pre-ordered dinner, but I was offered the chance to purchase it when I arrived. While my person dinner was being prepared I had the chance so clean up and soak in their private onsen. It was very clean with nice stone work. Dinner was delicious! There were too many dishes to mention and it was my first traditional Japanese meal so I would not be able to name. Breakfast was a just as good as dinner, but a few less dishes. The rooms, lobby area, and common spaces were nicely decorated and very clean and neat. The location is great. It is very close to the Amagi National Park and Kawazu Falls areas.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing setting, right by the river and on a really well-served bus route. Perfect base for visiting Yugashima, the Amagi Pass and amazing inland Izu. Really comfortable accommodation, the room had everything and was really warm on a Winter's night. The service was excellent, we were given full kitchen access which we really needed as the number of eating options locally are limited in the evenings. The private hot baths opens out onto the beautiful river and mountain across the way.
Cons: Nothing. Perfect accommodation.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: scenery, food and human touch
Cons: nothing
2.5 Mediocre
Pros: Wonderful traditional accommodation right next to the river. Nice river view from the room. Very nice private onsen.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Traditional Japanese style (beautiful) with baths and tatami rooms. Host was super friendly and went out of her way to drive us to find places to eat.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great place with a lovely staff and a very nice Onsen =)
Cons: Finaly we would have liked to have supper at the Hotel, but unfortunately we did not order this in advance. We therefore had to find a place by car : though we almost missed it, we made it!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast and the dinner served are extraordinary. Because the cost is in medium range so I didn't expect too much. But it turn out highly above my expectation. The room space is huge, compared to ones in Tokyo or similar citites. The environment is quiet and relaxing, there's a river just close to the window and you can enjoy the sound day and night. The staff is friendly and helpful. I enjoy a wonderful stay there.
Cons: Although there is little difficult in communicating with the staff, but their English still can be improved! And, the location! If you arrive by a bus, be careful with the timetable! Best way to arrive there is rent a car. Free parking lot provided.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: A nice Japanese style lodging with supermarkets and convenient stores near by. Need to access by car. Room is very clean and comfortable, with two family types onsen/baths.

7.9 Good
Pros: The location is very convenient. Basically all the sightseeing spots in Shusenji are within walking distance. The Ryokan is very clean and beautifully designed. We love the waterfront and the stage setting particularly. Every evening a staff would ride a boat and place floating lights onto the water, making the view especially poetic.
Cons: The bathing area at Asaba was too small and bathing facilities are quite limited compared to other luxury onsen Ryokans around Ito. There was only one public open-air bath available and the pool was quite small. If you are in Ito to experience relaxing Japanese onsen, then Asaba is probably not the best choice.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Japanese style hotel with oneson, fantastic food with good dining environment.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The considered design, care and hospitality of the staff, and world-class food made for a one-of-a-kind experience that should be on everyone's travel list. This place is special like no other hotel or ryokan you'll find. Be prepared to go back in time, slowly and thoughtfully, in a place outside of history.
Cons: It was perfect.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Onsen, food
Cons: Limited Onsen time for the ladies. Also, Onsen time for the ladies were during the evening or late in the evening- never during daytime so it was mostly ‘grey’ Versus the men which is during the day.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Hotel is surrounded with a great nature. Free shuttle from the station, friendly staff, many games like pingpong, darts and even sega. Hotel has some surprises: they turned off light at dinner time and gave us desserts with candles. Also they have a game with chopsticks where you can win free night.
Cons: Humidity in the room. Only 1 man from staff knows English and he was really helpful. It might be difficult to stay without his help.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly and helpful staff. Very good service provided.
Cons: I did not realise it's a Balinese style hotel when I book it, it was not what I expected cause the website did not say it. I prefer traditional Japanese onsen.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: One of the best onsen hotels I have ever stayed. Our room was next to the river although the running river was a bit noisy, we got used to it the second night. The hotel was nicely designed. Onsen baths rotated between men and women from certain period of time. However I didn’t get a chance to try out the outdoor onsen. We didn’t know it exist until the second day.
Cons: Nothing. Perhaps the noise from the running river at night. But it is amazing to be in the nature
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great place, nice staff and perfect onzen
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The ryokan is beautiful and the staff was so very helpful. A ryokan with a lot of history but the facilities were well preserved. The location was wonderful.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Great service from staff. Small unique ryokan. Serene koi pond in the entrance hall. Great location. Near public attractions like the temple and the walking route along the river. If you wish a quiet stay, this is the place.
Cons: Prefer more varieties of breakfast and prefer to have breakfast in a public restaurant to a private space as in the bedroom. Two choices of public bathrooms: indoor and outdoor, and it needs to switch time of use between male and female as well.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Our time at Arai Ryokan was a dream come true. The location, architecture and Onsen were beautiful! The staff was friendly and helpful. Dinner and breakfast were amazing and we thoroughly enjoyed our traditional Japanese ryokan experience.

Pros: Good meal and friendly staff. Equipped with private onsen bath room (quite tiny bath tooth but it's ok). The garden is beautiful.
Cons: The shuttle bus will not wait at the stop unless you book one in advance. The traffic from train stop to the hotel is a little bit confusing.
2.5 Mediocre
Pros: BAD REVIEW :) I’ll make it as short and informative for those who consider staying here. I left a room key at the onsen (public bath) and learned about it only the next morning at the check-out. I informed the front-desk manager about it asking him to locate it so it could be returned to the Hotel. And that’s when the circus began. The guy became very angry and muttered through clenched teeth that the staff had cleaned the onsen in the morning and had not find any key otherwise it'd been returned to the front desk and added that we'd lost it somewhere else outside the premises (I guess he used a crystal ball to make such assumption). He was basically accusing us of lying. At that point my husband and I tried to accommodate the hotel so I began unpacking all of our luggage to check if by accident the key ended up inside of one of our suitcases. Of course, it did not. Meanwhile the manager was getting more upset already screaming at us. At first he said that it cost $20,000 US to replace the key, then he changed it to 20,000 yen and was forcing us to pay this amount threatening to call the police if we'd not oblige. We refused to do that. His emotions were all over the place and it was getting clear to us that in his mind we were criminals while he was playing a role of a “policeman” with his only objective to prove that we were lying to him about the key. He indeed informed us he's going to call the police at that time. It all was absolutely surreal, like in a horror movie. We weren't prepared for that, after all it was supposed to be a "relaxing" place:). So I went to the onsen myself. Glad I did since the key was right there, laying on top of an open shelf and we have a witness to that. (Continued below)
Cons: After the manager realized the key was found on the premises right where we were saying it had been left, he hid behind the curtain in another room and would not come out. We assumed he got scared of the consequences of his extremely rude and obscene behavior. We finally got him out of his room, although he was still hiding behind a staff-lady's back. The guy began saying some apologies so we took out the phone and switched on the video mode since we wanted to record them. After we did that he stopped apologizing and said that he would not apologize and it was not his fault but of his staff which failed to locate the key. At that point it was very clear to us that talking to him was absolutely useless. We left the Hotel. I am sure that everything was recorded on the video cameras in the reception area and TKP Corporation, as the Hotel’s owner, will have no problems to see the physical evidence to my words. Photo of the manage is enclosed below. PS. I would highly recommend NOT to send your elderly parents to this place unless you want them in the early grave. It was difficult to withstand such hostility even for such strong-minded adults as us. Elderly people would not manage :(( PPS. Unfortunately, we have not been contacted by the Hotel with explanations and apologies.
