The beds were very comfortable and the hot water showers and onsen were excellent
Rooms were ok and the location to one of the Evergreen ski schools was good.
Rooms were ok and the location to one of the Evergreen ski schools was good, but it sits at the tip of a very steep hill which is an unpleasant walk after a long day of skiing or after dinner. Two of our party were vegans and when staying at other areas like Shiga Kogen this has never been a problem, there was absolutely no flexibility in the menu, even when offering to pay the same price, just without the meat. Hence a walk every night down the hill which after a few days became very tiresome. The owners though were very nice and the overall accommodation was good but there is no lift.
Marchen house is located close to ski lifts and if you wish ski and snowboard lessons Green Edge is close by. Restaurants are a short walk down the road. The hotel is family owned and caters for Japanese and western visitors. Rooms are Japanese and western style.
The property is welcoming and pretty, and the staff were really helpful and friendly. The room was cosy, warm, clean and quiet. Located super- close to Kokusai lift, if you can find the secret short cut behind the car park.
Great little property .... very friendly staff.. nice and handy to town & there’s a happone chairlift right outside the back door ...
Double bed would have been nice ...
