The ambiance of the chamber, the ofuro and the breakfast was very good for a french tourist!
Nothing! Everything was very good!
It was open, the room opened out to the garden.
We went during Golden Week and paid A LOT to stay here. For the amount we paid the service, food and room were shockingly bad. The futons were very thin, old and uncomfortable. If you could find any staff, they were miserable. At breakfast and dinner they were not welcoming, even made you feel uncomfortable by their lack of hospitality. The dinner was ok but the breakfast was very over cooked and the flavour was bad. (We are a multicultural Japanese British family and even my Japanese relatives were unable to eat most of the food). If they insist on charging so much, then they really should step up on all levels of their business. I’ve reached out to the hotel twice but have never heard back from them. They obviously care very little about customer service. I don’t recommend this hotel, if there is no where else to stay in Hakone, but this place has vacancies, now you know why!
We didn’t book dinner and the kitchen could not accommodate walk ins. There were no restaurants open nearby and we had to buy instant noodle from the supermarket. A bit of flexibility would have helped or they could have informed in advance
The staff cant speak English. all documents and signage in the hotel has no English.
The room had a nice view and was clean.
The check-in staff seemed to be pretty unfriendly to an English speaking visitor. Do not expect any other than really basic information. We had to wait several times even 20 minutes to get a room keys since the reception was not manned even during the day time. We asked to pay the night before we left due to issues with international credit cards, but it was a problem. The spa is clean, though rusty, not really well maintained and it is not a great experience. Just a hot water pool. We went to Yunessun spa and that is much more nicer experience for an overseas visitor. I would not come back.
