The location of this stay was great as it overlooked beautiful mountains that were wonderful to wake up to each day. We enjoyed the stay and its family run feel and authentic Onsen experience.
The rooms felt a little run down and the linen / bedding didn't feel clean. It was a little bit of a shock considering that the price was quite high in relation to the facility and its overall presentation.
Very nice japanese dinner and breakfast, a friendly staff. The chef of the kitchen is a real sweetheart. Large rooms and a good location 15 minutes walk from nearest train station.
The place would need a fresh-up. Very old and worn out carpets, out-dated facilities in the shared bath. Throughout a youth hostel kind of feeling.
Great location and transport access. Easy to go sightseeing from here
Not used to traditional Japanese accommodation. Did not particularly enjoy sleeping on futons on floor at our age. Photos did not accurately reflect the condition of the hotel.
The breakfast and dinner was nice and felt really home cooked. The rooms were cosy and comfortable.
The hotel has seen better days. But it is a great place to stay, because it is authentic. The walk up the hill from the railway station Gora is rewarded with unlimited free ice cream. The dinner and breakfast is super delicious. You can use a kimono to visit the onsen-bath for free. Also there is a mass of games and movies to borrow for free. The owners speak little English. BUT, they are really nice people. I mean you feel when someone is a good fellow human. They were serving you in such a friendly and humble manner. Thank you. So if you don't mind simplicity and wish a budget stay in Hakone area this is the right place for you.
The location is great, with a super view. But, you must be fit to walk up the hill from the railway station. I did not mind the exercise, but advice the owner of the hotel to send the visitors an accurate description about possible bus or transport possibilities.
