Pros: We had such a lovely time at this accommodation. Prior to our arrival I asked for a dinner reservation and had a quick reply. Upon arrival a lovely and confortable room was available and a delicious home made meal followed at the agreed time. They also have a couple of Spa facilities which were pleasant to use after a long walk. Breakfast with local organic products and home made delights was also a great part of the stay. The view from the room was lovely, overlooking the mountains, and a short ride will lead us to the Lake Gerardmer. Perfect stay!

Cons: The poor welcome. No help with luggage and reception up a flight of stairs. The noise of heavy traffic just outside the bedroom window. The slowness of service in the restaurant (table booked for 1900 hrs, finally finished at 2330 hrs). Swimming pool was closed at the time we wanted to use it. The whole reception team were amazing, helping us book a vets appointment, a restaurant for our third night, storing stuff in their freezer and helping me when I left my I pad by the outside pool. 9.2 Excellent
Pros: The meal choice was good and breakfast was excellent. Staff were friendly.
7.0 Good
Pros: Friendly and well located, good motorcycle parking.
Cons: We got off to a bad start here as we had booked a family room with a double bed and two single beds. On arrival our room was a double bed and a bunk bed. The proprietor said we had booked this and nothing else was free unless we paid extra. This room was misrepresented either by him or more likely by the description in booking.com. Shame as I think the owners were nice people..
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The room was extremely cosy, styled in cows theme - well thought details, and so nice! Super-central location but still able to find parking - and that in the period of school holidays.
Cons: Smoke from kitchen sometimes went upstairs into the room. Breakfast quite moderate, no eggs, no meat.

Pros: Great location overlooking the lake and a few minutes drive to the ski slopes, apartment was clean and tidy and the staff seemed very friendly
Cons: When we arrived we had to telephone the number on the door but because it was lunchtime there was no answer so we had to wait, not really a problem as we went skiing while waiting. Also the apartment manager didn't speak any english and with my little french it was a bit difficult but she was very friendly and helpful.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved the staff, including the old friendly house dog. The food was amazing!! Very convinient if you go skiing; it’s just next to the lift
Cons: The fee to transport the luggage uphill was a little to expensive.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Lovey setting, atmosphere and location, so you need to remember lift times, as you can't get there otherwise.
Cons: All was fine, the only thing I would say is that the luggage collection should be free if you pay around €100/ night unless you have a really heavy case or loads of luggage and then also calculated per item. We had 2 rucksacks which we took ourselves in the end even though I wasn't sure if my son was comfy skiing with a fairly heavy rucksack but they would have charged €5 pp which is not a lot but we stayed at other mountain resorts where luggage collection was always included in the price....
9.2 Excellent
Pros: This auberge is up near the top of the ski resort, so can be tricky to get to in the winter (if it is full snow, which it wasn't for us, you can not drive there). Once there though it is pure magic. The staff are super friendly and helpful. The onsite restaurant has great local cuisine and a good selection of drinks too. Even with the lack of snow it was busy with hikers during lunch, but in the evenings it is quiet and lovely. It's a quick hike to the top of the ski hill for starwatching at night, and the local MTB/snowshoe trails are great for exploring and are right there. We'll be back in the summertime for a mountain biking adventure for sure.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Great location, ski lift right in front of the property. Really nice atmosphere inside the pub as well
Cons: Room was a bit small for 3 persons, especially because of all the ski equipment
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The location is very good. Unfortunately, there was no snow when we stayed there :(. The staff is friendly . The fireplace in the restaurant is awesome.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very nice hotel with great terrace and comfortable rooms.

Overview Reviews
Located in Xonrupt-Longemer, Hôtel Restaurant Balveurche is a 5-minute drive from Col de la Schlucht and 10 minutes from La Bresse Lispach Ski Area. Free self parking is available onsite.
6.7 Good
Pros: Staff
Cons: Facilities
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The location of the hotel and the view from our room were stunning. The hotel was clean and comfortable if a bit dated. The food for evening meal and for breakfast was excellent.
Cons: There was no real usable shower in our large bathroom. I prefer a bath, and was delighted with the one provided. However, my wife prefers a shower, and all that was available was a hand-held shower in the bath with no shower curtain, so that the water went all over the bathroom floor. Also it was very dark in the corridor to our room and the light switch was rather hard to find.
6.3 Good
Pros: Remote, hill-top location and old rustic feel of the property. Lots of parking space and a nice bar/restaurant area.
Cons: Next to zero English spoken by staff & very poor breakfast at €10 - tiny quantities put out for lots of guests including small, semi-expired fruit bowl. Wifi was extremely slow and useless some nights.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The surroundings was fabulous, beautiful emerald mountains and forests. The real French croissant was really tasty and leads to addiction. The restaurant has panoramic view.
Cons: Something silently buzzed in the wall, by our head. The guests smoke in the terrace.

Cons: Nothing
7.5 Good
Pros: Good value for the money. Free parking. Warm room, no weird smell. Very clean. Comfortable beds, but very small.
Cons: Very poor breakfast. The room for 3 people is quite small for 3 adults, it's more suitable for a couple with one child. Beds are very small ...so if you're a tall person, your legs will most probably be outside the bed...
7.1 Good
Pros: Breakfasts were lovely. Location was very convenient for walking into Gerardmer
Cons: Room rather small, no facility to make drinks in room. Rules say no eating in room.. Bed very low for anyone with mobility issues.
6.3 Good
Pros: Cleaness.
Cons: Very small room. Cigaret smell in coridors and rooms.
6.7 Good
Pros: The location is good, free parking space, extremely polite , friendly and helpful staff - they absolutely deserve to be praised for this!
Cons: Poor wifi connection- kept kicking me out on both - my laptop and mobile phone. There is barely space to turn around for 1 person, how 2 are expected to be staying there I don't know I could hear everything from the neighbour's rooms, and when the people in the room above mine were in and walking around- their floor was so loud on every step, I thought my ceiling will fall down! Having this in mind & the price of this "pleasure", I don't think I would be staying there again.

Pros: We stayed just one night a stopover on the way back from Sorrento. Room was quite small but we were only there 1 night so no problem, couldn't get wifi but you can in main building we were across the road. We had a nice view of the lake and breakfast was very good. Parking at the hotel off road and a short walk into the main centre for lots of restaraunts in the evening. A nice quiet location and very friendly staff.
Cons: Nothing really it was a one night stopover so perfect for us
