It was in Italy, and we love Italy, so that’s always going to make you forget about some of the conveniences you’re used to. The breakfast atmosphere was nice, and like everywhere in Italy, the coffee was amazing. Dinner was very expensive at the hotel, but just down the street in walking distance there are some great local places. And then obviously in Florence, the food is unmatched...and restraints for days...and many of them are extremely affordable.
The hotel is all on one A/C & Heating system, that it’s either every room has heat, or every room has A/C. We did not know this going in, and it ended up being a warmer Spring, however still not warm enough for them to convert all the rooms over to A/C. So we had to open windows, which have no screens, therefore the flying bugs came to stay in our room as well (without paying mind you) and needless to say, we slept with insect repellent every night. Which is not an aphrodisiac. The rooms are closest related to say a Ramada Inn or an older Holiday Inn in the States. Finally, some of the reviews we read said that downtown Florence was walking distance...it is not walking distance, it would take a solid 45min or so to just get into the town walking, then you walk everywhere in the town all ready. My wife and I are in great shape and don’t mind walking, but we rented a car to drive into Florence, then parked and walked from there. Even if you like walking it would be a big time vacuum from being able to enjoy the town. Again, though, it’s Italy! The beauty and romance of the city can tend to distract from the little consciences one might be used to coming from America. So if you’re on a budget, but want to be closer to downtown Florence, then this is a decent choice. As long as you know it’s a solid 2.5-3 star hotel and nothing more, and go during a time that the hotel offers A/C, then you’ll prob enjoy it more than we did.
The best points for this hotel are the location (proximity of the highway, excellent as a starting point for trips in Tuscany), the availability of the 3rd bed (for children) and the free large parking.
The hotel looks very outdated and definitely overrated (3 stars maximum). It is mainly used as a transit point for tourists. Breakfast is a nightmare if you don't wake up early in the morning, as the restaurant is completely devastated by the tourists groups, and the 2 people caring about cleaning the mess and bringing new foods are completely overloaded. The pool opening time makes it useless (10-19) as this is the time period people usually make trips. The only day we arrived earlier in the idea of using the pool (18:30) we found out that it was closed as the guy in charge left earlier.
The pool area was very good and the staff were very friendly and helpful.
Sadly, the food that we ordered in the restaurant was terrible.
The hotel is too far from the city centre and the transportation is insufficient, the personnel is not enough to serve all the customers with efficiency and finally, the reason why we booked this hotel was only the facility of the pool which was not finally provided. The pool was closed due to the bad weather 10 days before our arrival, and they had not done something to open it again in the meantime. If they had informed us in advance about the lack this main facility, we would have been able to change our reservation and stay in a hotel in the city centre and avoid all the inconvenience that we faced.
Parking space. Proximity to the autostrada.
Definetely an old place not worthing the 4 stars, nor the price. Very depressing appearence. Lady at the front desk willing and helpful but desperetely alone for a morning shift.
Hotel location is easy to find. English speaking front desk personnell. Free covered parking. Excellent breakfast buffet and waiting staff, all the expresso and cappuccinos you can drink, eggs, bacon, sausages and baked goods. Rooms are quiet and closed drapes make room totally dark.
We booked here because of the advertised swimming pool facility. After we checked in we were told that swimming pool was closed because hotel was taken over by new management which did not know how to sanitize the pool. My kid and I were very disappointed about this and I wish Holiday Inn told us ahead about their pool problems. On first night the a/c on both rooms didn't work, I asked front desk lady for help and she told me all windows must be closed for the a/c to work. Did as she told me but a/c never turned on. Next day hotel engineer told us we had to set a/c control to hot instead of cold for a/c to work...why didn't I think of that? A/C worked fine then, a more professional staff could have spared us the trouble, H/I work on this
We arrived by car so we were looking for somthing close to the city, but not in it. The hotel was very convenient to the highway, but still quiet, and did not charge for parking. Breakfast was very good, room was big, internet downstairs, easy and direct bus to the city center. If I were going to Florence again with a car, I would stay here again. It was perfect for what we were looking for.
Fitness room was outdated, but pool was nice. Exterior is outdated as well but not a big deal to me.
Big pool, Busstop near the hotel to downtown Florence,
additional bed for the child was a very uncomfy couchbed, staff could be more friendly
very nice staff at the front desk
the service at the bar and restaurant is absolutely non exisitant, we had to wait 45min after our main course to get the bill which we did not ask for, we wanted a dessert and a coffe but it was obviously to much to ask for. There is no other restaurant around the hotel otherwise we would have left the table after the 20 min we were seated with not even a "hello".
Staff extremely helpful
yes they did not have hot water in my room, plus the tempt. was very high
