Mercure Figueira da Foz

A real touch of luxury for a very good price (out of season). We had a sea view which was breath-taking! The balcony which was glazed allowed us to sit out and enjoy the view whatever the weather.

Because it was out of season, there weren't a huge number of restaurants open nearby, so we dined at the hotels restaurant. Selection wasn't huge and it was a very average meal at the cost of 90 euros for 4 people (main course, a bottle of wine and water only). Service was very slow considering there were only two other tables with people on.

Excellent design, decoration and superb art work. Lovely room with wonderful balcony viewing the beach and sea. Good quality food. Polite, helpful staff. Great for the centre of town.

Air conditioning was not working and, though it was easily possible to live with this, it was frustrating and uncomfortable until we asked about it; it would have been helpful to have been told about the problem upon arrival so that we would not have spent time trying to adjust the controls ourselves. I'm sure this won't be an issue for long!

The breakfast is very expensive.

Very welcoming and rooms where clean and spacious,location right opposite beach is superb and local restaurants 5 minute walk away.

Only thing we found was food was pricey and better to eat in a local restaurant,cheaper and better quality

The way at the reception desk I was welcomed the first day and the service during all my stay was perfect, "sunny people" in a sunny country
