The bed & the pillows were so comfy! Plenty of space & towels. The room was clean. The guidebook was very helpful. The area is beautiful & there’s plenty of shopping & food in walking distance.
I was expecting to check in after hours & the instructions were very unclear. I also called to ask about the checking in process after hours, and I was not given enough information so I was unsure how to check in when I got here in the middle of the night which was kind of scary. I also tried calling the after hours number multiple times & there was no answer. Fortunately for me, one of the room’s was unlocked so I crashed there for the night.
I really enjoyed the location. The room was clean and comfortable, and spacious! A great deal in the area, and I literally woke up to elk right below my window... granted it was earlier than I wanted to wake up, it was amazing. There was a fridge, which is important, and the location is perfect with a Safeway across the road and numerous restaraunts and other fun things to visit. I would definitely stay here again!
The only negative would be water pressure, tight parking, and noisy elk (though this is a positive as well!).
The view from our room was wonderful.....a clear and perfect view of the mountains.....so beautiful! The beds were so comfy with a very cushy comforter on top. I usually don't sleep well while away but I did sleep this time and thankful there was no noise from neighboring rooms which helped and has occurred in the past. We stay here, in part, because of their dog friendly policy and I enjoy seeing other dogs taking walks with their owners. They have a nice pond to walk around with your dog. The biggest surprise this year was the breakfast. This is the first time there was a real breakfast and it was very nice. They had waffles you could make from a mix, muffins, pastries, bagels with cream cheese and various other condiments, hard boiled eggs, several kinds of cereal, and coffee and tea of course. I didn't bother to go over until my husband came back and said "hey you should come over they have a real breakfast spread". He was right and this was a new and welcome addition, Previously when they said "continental breakfast" it was not worth remembering, very minimal. They must have new management or something. Anyway, kudos to the management for this improvement. The weather was nice during our two days....some wind which was chilly...but really warmed up in the afternoons. Our older dog (now 14) enjoyed the walks around the lake and the River Walk. We wore her out and she totally crashed …. had to wake her up for "last call" potty time. We had pizza at Antonio's Real NY pizza and it was very good. We got it to go so we could enjoy it in our room without a lot of noise.
Okay, so the thing I did not appreciate was they had CNN on in the lobby where we had to wait till our room was ready, It wasn't quite ready at time of check-in and we didn't feel like going anywhere since we had spent hours in Estes already and had walked and walked. The next morning for breakfast, CNN still on. Ugg. Hate it. They should at least have Fox on to be fair. Or nothing at all. It was so disgusting I had to step outside to avoid the loud and obvious lies being stated. Discovery Lodge get a clue. Not everyone is a liberal.
Great location, room was super nice and clean. Bed was very comfortable and we loved seeing the elk right in front of our room.
Our room was right under the breakfast area so it was noisy very early. The heater was noisy also.
It was near a busy part of town but not congested. It was a park like area. Doors on both sides of room made easy access for dog. Homey lobby area. Comfy beds.
Not a fancy breakfast but certainly adequate. Facility is on a hillside and the roads are not in good repair so walking can be slightly difficult. I couldn't find any outside trash cans.
