Very nicely decorated, clean, great location for central Edinburgh. Check in was excellent with friendly, attentive staff. Very comfortable beds - the stay was faultless!
We arrived at the Chester Residence way to early before check in just to drop off our luggage. The very friendly lady at reception told us our room would be ready in half an hour (at 10 am)! We were very happy with that after a long travel. We received a complimentary coffee and tea in the lounge while waiting. The apartment (2-bedroom Penthouse) is very luxurious and spacious. It has great views. The slippers and bathrobes are very handy (although a bit small). Bathrooms are very clean and seem just renovated. The music was on when we entered and gave us a very welcome feeling. In the refridgerator there was complimentry water and milk. Breakfast is delivered in the afternoon (because we booked it in advance? Not sure because other reviews mention in the morning) and has so many variety. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The residence is very nearby the center and is in a nice and quiet area.
The breakfast on our 2nd day was not (like the first day) stored in the fridge. We came back late after a long daytour throught the Highlands. So we did not dare to eat the salmon, roast bief and milk anymore after so many hours without cooling. There are a lot op toppings for just 2 slices of toast per person. The 2nd day we bought some extra baguettes in the supermarket. A croissant or some extra toast would have been nice (and was there before as we can see on other pictures in reviews). In the kitchen we missed a towel and soap to wash hands. Also scissors would be nice and some oven paper to keep the oven cleaner. Most glasses had some dirty in it. The sofa is not very comfy and I missed a table and chairs. I do not find bar stools very comfortable to sit on while eating. In the ensuite bathroom the handshower was leaking a lot and the vents need some cleaning. My mattras had a pit. I didn’t find it comfortable. The other side was a bit better and my sister in law didn’t had the problem in her bedroom. There is some wear and tear, e.g. the freezer is not closing.
Space, and rooms were fantastic.
Unfortunately, we ran out of water in the bathroom on the morning that we were leaving. We were advised we could use another room to freshen up but seeing as we were in a rush didn't have time to take up the offer. This was however, the only downside to a wonderful night away.
Always as expected. Top draw.
The reception was manned by 2 male members off staff. Both were poorly trained disinterested and rude. Neither stood up. Engaged or had any interest in me or my custom.
Great location and a really well appointed apartment. The apartment was really well appointed and the shower was amazing
Staying at the Chester Residence in Edinburgh means that you have a lot of space in one of the older areas of the city, in fact, the hotel itself boasts about the space in the apartments as having “parish church” proportions. However, space is not the only thing that makes this Scottish hotel great, there is also incredible proximity to the famous Princes Street along with the different sites that dot Scotland’s capital city. Within the hotel, there are lots of amenities, for example, the hotel offers complimentary bottles of champagne, a turn down service, flower bouquets, grocery delivery, and several restaurants on site. You can get a fine dining experience or just head to the lounge and get yourself a nice drink after a day of sightseeing.
As for the apartments at the Chester Residence, all of them are old Georgian Townhomes that have been converted into modern living spaces. The apartments all have different capacities and belong to different buildings, but everything is kept together. The apartments are either one bedroom or two bedroom, depending on the place that you are staying. Within the apartments, the décor is chic and urban – while the hotel may exude history, the place that you would stay in has modern appliances and finishes. This is a great hotel for business people or for couples seeking a romantic getaway.
The Chester Residence is a great hotel to stay at in Edinburgh because it provides some incredibly luxurious finishes in a premium location.
