We were only staying for one night before a very early morning flight back home. It is very conveniently located as it is very close to the Airport (the taxi ride is about 15 GBP from hotel to Edinburgh Airport, not including tip). Modern and extremely clean. We had supper at the Hotel and the food was excellent.
Breakfast was nice, only scrambled egg no fried. Location could have been more divided as it was in the main corridor with customers coming and going.
The radio alarm clock in my room kept me awake both nights!!! I don't use an alarm clock radio as use my phone as i expect most people do, so I didn't touch the radio alarm. It went off at 01:30 and woke me, I cannot get back to sleep after being totally woken up. I couldn't see the very small buttons to stop it but eventually did, it then hummed for the rest of the night. In the morning I saw an on/off button so switched it off. The second night it sounded again at 01:30 am and again couldn't return to sleep. Two sleepless nights which ruined the purpose of my visit. I think room service should check these alarms or I would remove them as unnecessary The bar had little choices of beer 2xlager,1xcider and 1xcraft beer. No bitter or Guinness, we heard other customers asking for bitter or guiness also. Where's the good pint of Scottish 'heavy' bitter. We didn't like the menu and nothing appealed to us as it was too 'designer' basic menus always easier to make choices. Seating area was not comfortable as chairs all low backed. This area could have been a bit Scottish Themed as you could have been anywhere. Spent a lot of money here and unfortunately no good points to reflect price paid.
We were pleased by the room and happy to relax from our journey, which was quite long the days before. Good place to stay for decisions to drive to town or see nice landscapes. A refrigeratior would be nice, but doesn't matter. The suitcase and lugage venture is a super help.
The stairs are a bit hidden, when you don't like to use the elevators. It was water coming down next to the entrance. A (small) roof would help, for a easier check in. Even with the umbrella, lage drops.
Nice property in lovely garden setting. Breakfasts were very good. The room was very comfortable and clean. Some staff were very courteous and helpful.
The hotel was further away from Edinburgh than we would have liked. The restaurant dinner menu is very limited. Some staff were very matter-of-fact and not prepared to go out of their way in any way.
Nice clean hotel. Beautiful area. Front desk was helpful.
The food in the hotel restaurant needs improvement. We were always short on towels and water. The staff was helpful but short.
