Pros: The staff at this hotel went out of their way to give us everything they thought we might want. Nothing was too much trouble whether it was free tastings of Arabian coffee or replenishing room supplies. All staff were good but I caught the name of Majed, Sirasoon and the porter Tifsuk(?). The Souf Wafiq is a collection of hotels located in the market and they are an oasis away from the bustle. We stayed in a Deluxe room at the Najd hotel and enjoyed the quality of the fittings and luxury Arab feel. It was fun not to stay at a cookie cutter hotel. The Souf Wafiq markets are a must on any tourist to do list and its so convenient to be among them. The breakfast was varied and delicious.

Pros: The location was fantastic! The breakfast was good. But nothing else was good.
Cons: The check-in process was long and ridiculous. We were 2 adults and 2 children. We reserved a room with a King-sized and asked for an extra bed. Our 3-year-old son sleeps between my wife and I in our bed. The person checking us in saw that we were 4 people but nonetheless, he checked us into a room with 2 single beds!!!! He also said if I wanted to pay cash (which I did), I would have to pay that very night. This meant that I had to immediately run to the money exchange place since it was closing in 15 minutes. Ridiculous! We were given a room with one king-sized bed and they added a roll away bed but the room was quite old and needed renovations. The plumbing in the room was horrendous and the shower hardly worked.

Word of advice would be if you are taking the Chu type bus to the airport, get your number early and get in line outside.

Pros: The complementary dinner they gave me to overcome the problems they made.
Cons: 1) long time to do check-in, 30 mins although I checked in an hour after the offitial check-in time. So I was on late Check-in status.
2) I reserved three rooms. The first room they gave me was not ready.
3) after I left the room and come back, like 90 mins, I found out that the room service guy entered my room and took the card on the main switch, not only pulling it out. The room climet was too worm becouse of that.
4) The AC was drooping some condincate water.
5) Before I checked out, like an hour before checking out, I went to the reciption and asked them to give me a new card to make sure that it will open the room door. The reciptionest gave me a useless card and it did not open the room. This made be go back to them and ask for a new card again.

Cons: The operational management is very poor. We had to wait for a looong line to check in, then looong line to check out. They say that provide a shuttle bus to the airport, but they don’t say to everyone that you have to prebook the ride by obtaining a special card! So half of the hotel didn’t know about it and when the bus arrived, it was almost a fight! Really poorly managed

Cons: The only issue we had was communication with the front reception with airport transfers and late check out. Additionally the 100 riyal deposit was given on card and at the end of the stay it couldn't be refunded on my card, they gave it back to me in cash.

Chinese restaurant on ground floor had good food and drinks but was indoor only and all smoking, so my asthmatic husband and child couldn't go in, so we are outside. Cons: I tried to park my car there, managed to scratch the side mirror instead and ended up parking outside. Advice: Walk down to the parking and do a quick survey first, especially the turn towards lower basement, before you decide to try parking your car there!!! The basement parking is not meant for any cars bigger than a normal sedan. No bell boy available that night to help us with the bags up to our room (Thursday night - busy). No trolley for the bags. The hand bidet in the toilet was not clean. Pool is not heated.

Cons: This place is dirty and just all around bad. Let's start with the cleanliness issues, I was suppose to be in a non smoking room, the entire floor smelt of cigarettes. When I got into my room there was an empty carton of cigarettes in the closet and cigarette ash on the furniture. The sheets had red residue on it and the chair looked liked they pulled it out of a dumpster. There were a lot of things missing from my room, I had to call multiple times for, the remote for the television was missing, things from the mini bar were missing, all the towels were missing, the in room iron and ironing board were missing. Now for the rude neighbors; I was woken at 2:30 in the morning by someone attempting to get in my room, I opened the door and a woman said sorry wrong room. Then the rest of the night this woman's children continued to run up and down the halls and slam doors. I could not sleep. The staff are unhelpful, when you call for assistance the person who comes to the room is no real help. Would never go back and would never recommend to anyone

During my last 3 days of the stay, they transfered me to another room because of 'issue' with plumbing in another room which was all right by me but a little bit of extra comp (free dinner at restaurant etc) could have been great :)
