If you’re travelling alone, a compact or small economy car is best to get around the city and points further afield, while families and groups of friends may prefer the comfort and size of an intermediate SUV or people carrier to get around.
There is a 20mph speed limit along Swansea High Street and other districts within thriving commercial and institutional areas, but outside these precincts, the national speed limit of 30mph should be applied. On primary roads like the A4067 and A483, speeds of between 40mph and 50mph are allowed and if you make it out to the M4 the limit increases to 70mph. CCTV and traffic cameras are always in use along busy highways and at junctions, so drive with care and observe the stated limits whenever possible.

The tariffs at city centre parking garages vary according to location but typically range between £1.20 and £1.50 per hour, which is similar to those for recreational parking spots. Parking is free on Sundays and bank holidays on most public streets not subject to restrictions and is usually free Monday-Saturday between the hours of 21:00 and 08:00.

Pros:Wonderful and friendly staff, Susan was especially helpful with my plans. Glad that they are in Swansea will be using them on my next trip home.
Cons:Having to pay extra if I wanted to drop the car off when closed on Saturday afternoon or Sunday.
Cons:We arrived to find they had NO CARS. They just said, "Sorry, due to the bank holiday there are no cars and there's nothing we can do. We tried to contact you yesterday, but couldn't call you due to American phone number." So, I got an email reminder from Budget about the reservation, but that wasn't used to tell us of a problem. Also, if they had known for over 24 hours, why didn't they get a car from Cardiff or somewhere? It's not that far away. And why had they lent out so many cars they couldn't cover reservations? When we arrived at the office, they hadn't even bothered to call other agencies for us, so when they did there were no cars at those agencies either. They made essential no effort to fix the problem that was entirely their fault. I have never encountered anything like this in years of renting cars and am blown away by the fact that they didn't have a car for us. Why bother to reserve one? In the end, our local friends had to borrow a car from some of their friends so we could get out to western Wales and our pre-paid, non-refundable cottage. It was an inconvenience all around, and if we didn't have local contacts our holiday would have been sunk.
