Awesome! Great value
Pros: It was easy, the employees were really nice & the shuttle service was convienent & quick. We will definitely use them again. The price we were quoted online was the price we paid. It was great to not see an increase in the cost upon returning the car.

Cons: That the car was returned at 6:14 and I was charged for an extra hour. When at pick up the person giving us the car said return the car around 6pm. I guess I took that to mean that close to 6pm. If I was going to be charged more if it was after 6 pm then he should of said- hey car back by 6pm or we will charge you for an hourly rate.

Disappointments
Pros: The car was clean and did run... and that's about as far as I can go with positives.
Cons: The pick up location is NOT at the airport. They do advertise this information, but they have a booth at the airport, where you call a number and a van comes to shuttle you to the car rental spot. When we called the number, they didn't tell us this.. they said they would be there in five minutes. No mention of the van. No mention of moving locations. Maybe this was my fault, or maybe they could have mentioned something like "great! We will send a van to pick you up in the next few minutes. Please look for the white shuttle with the words "Payless" on the side!" Or maybe that's expecting too much. I'm not a customer service expert. We all show up to the rental area and there is only one guy working the counter. So it takes longer than it needs to. He casually mentions that there's a multi hundred dollar deposit that comes with all rentals. Sure. Maybe that was in the fine print. I guess I missed it. But whatever. All was well. We drive the car off the lot. All is good. Until the next day, when the check engine light comes on and the oil light as well. I called the number they gave me and offered me a few options. None of which accommodated the concept that I was in a wedding all weekend and i needed to use the car in a city 100 miles from the pick up location. Sure, I COULD drive all the way back and get a new car. Sure. I COULD drop the car off to get maintenance done, with the assurance you'd reimburse me. But the idea here is that i paid for a service. You did not hold up your end of the deal. And somehow I am penalized for the inconvenience. The final conclusion was that as long as the vehicle "sounds okay" then I'm okay to drive it to my hearts content. My husband checked the oil level which was drastically low and the oil was caked entirely on the dipstick. The cars are clearly, poorly maintained, and when I am home in the future, I will never ever ever rent from them. Time with family is more valuable than saving a few bucks. No apology. No sort of compensation. Just a bill and a "see you later" at the end of it all. Too bad.

Cons: Car had no cruise control, and it was a 2014. Cars not especially clean. Rental location is hard to find, and takes time to get to if you don't have a ride--no ubers around.

Car was in bad mechanical condition
Cons: Car would not accelerate, ended up on the side of the road for an hour. Interior was stained up and dirty. They charged me an extra $200 right away on pick up "in case of damages", I was not aware they would do that. Location was hard to find.

Car was great, the help was halfway
Pros: Fast assistance at the pickup counter (low chat, fast keys, didn't let a long line form), able to choose any car within the class paid for, super clean car interior, only one set of car keys on the key ring
Cons: Summed up in Thrifty not thinking of the rental process from the customer's perspective ... After the pickup counter there was a guide that took us to the cars we could choose from. We had a question regarding looking over the car for scratches & dents because the first car we chose had some of note. The guide was gone, we asked the next two that came by and they didn't speak English. Next, at the departure of the pickup lot there was a backup of cars because someone's credit card wasn't accepted ... but it was accepted inside at the pickup desk? This delayed many people's departures by 5+ min. The last bit was that apparently MSP airport has car rental & dropoff at both Terminal 1 & 2, but we didn't know so we returned to the wrong one and had a 30 min walk + elevator + tram + walk + escalator journey. If dropoff location could've been hinted at that would've made our return much more smooth and convenient.

Cons: Desk was closed upon arrival and a sign said to call phone number with questions. Called but no one answered. Sign also said to check at desk in other terminal. Went to the other terminal...no Thrifty agent so the Hertz agent logged into their system to help me out. Service was fine but slow process with her. Took me over 1.5 hours to finally leave the airport in a rental car. Upon returning the car, the agent told me an extremely higher fee than I was expecting. He changed it back to the original fee right away so no problem there, but I was curious how that new fee even happened.

Cons: I picked up the car. Check out was fine. Within 15 minutes of driving the car a dash light came on stay "key battery was low". I stopped at home to pick up luggage. When I returned the car would not start. Dask light said it did not recognize the key. After leaving car and removing back key I was able to get the car started. I called trifty and spoke to a service representative who told me to not shut off the car and return it to the airport rental agency. This is where it became odd. The trifty representative told me he would only be albe to hold a car for an hour after I told him I could make it back to the airport in an hour and 15 minutes. He then had the audacity to tell me I would be required to fill up the care within 10 miles of the rental agency. That is after he told me not to shut off the car. I believe it is considered unwise to fill up an automobile with the car running. I returned to car and subsquently every thing went well. The staff at the MSP airport were pleasant and helpful. I wish I could say the same about the phone service interaction.

It wasn't the car I was anticipating
Pros: The car was clean enough.
Cons: The gentleman at the counter told me my car choices, none of which were stated on the original buy in. They were the or equal... Since I would be driving my elderly parents around I was talked into "upgrading" for another $70.00. I went to the lot and it was still a small puddle jumper. Upgrade might mean upgrade to power windows. In the end with all the fees and taxes it was way more than stated. I want to know the out the door price please!

Very inconvenient
Pros: Fairly quick pick up and drop off
Cons: Flight delayed - needed my car overnight after delay. Thrifty was going to charge me over $300 to keep it overnight. They claimed they couldn't do any better. Ended up being a huge inconvenience to take it back before I was ready.

Pros: Got a great upgrade, and they waived the extra driver fee so we broke even. Great, friendly service and easy to use.
Cons: It would be helpful if they told you where to park to pick up a car (if you're not coming straight from the airport). My best hint (although I missed the mark myself) would be to aim for the blue/gold ramp.

They did not rent car without a credit card.
Cons: They required a credit card at time of rental. I didn’t have one with me so they wouldn’t rent to me. I had to walk 7 blocks to Budget/Avis and they rented me a car with a debit card.

Great Car. Crappy Experience After.

Cons: Was billed twice. I prepaid for the vehicle, and upon returning the vehicle an employee charged me again. It's been two weeks and I have yet to receive my refund. The follow-up and the process is lengthy and frustrating, and when I called customer service they had no knowledge of the location's submission for the refund, which I was told I had to call the location myself and find out what was going on. Very poor process and I'm unimpressed with being told I would receive a refund within 5-7 days, and when I called to follow up I received no answers. This was an overcharge of $200+. Very disappointing.

Pros: It was quick at the desk to get my keys and check out.
Cons: I was in a hurry to get to a client or I would have gone back in to complain. The car was filthy, the inside was disgusting, the outside had mud splattered all the way the side! Even the girl that checked us out at the security gate made the comment the car obviously hadn't been cleaned! There was also a crack in the window that as I pointed it out at the check out booth, the girl said she was aware, the last customer pointed it out as well! I was so embarrassed that I ended up stopping and getting it washed and vacuumed before my appointment! Thanks

Terrible car rental company
Cons: We reserved our car for 8 days and paid for it all online, and upon arrival the person behind the counter told us to keep our reservation for the number of days we paid for would be an additional $60. When we refused, we were told we would have to bring the car back a day early, which created huge problems getting a ride back to the airport. When we returned the car, we were told we still owed an additional $40. We will absolutely never use Hertz again as a car rental company, and will make sure nobody we know has the displeasure of using them either.

Pros: We had a hard time finding the location because there are 2 Union Depots in St Paul. Agents we talked to didn’t tell us that. We had to get the wiper blades replaced while on the road, not good.

Cons: I hate the bate and switch. YOUR website said chose "special rate" and get a minimum 5 people/2 bags car. I chose that. At the Dollar counter only one vehicle available Chev Spark 4P/1B, but "I could upgrade for an additional 243.00". I emailed you, only to be told I didn't understand what the "Special" was. You're correct, the website doesn't say economy, compact, etc., but it DOES say 5P/2B.

Great value - but watch the invoicing
Pros: I got an amazing rate and was upgraded to a luxury car! The only bummer, when I got to the checkout line, I saw I was being invoiced for full price of the upgrade. Luckily I still had the confirmation and customer service honored the invoice.
Cons: There was a heavy sales pitch to take car insurance.

Pros: When no one showed up at the Dollar rental counter, eventually a woman named Precious (and believe me she is!) at the Hertz counter helped me. Apparently Dollar is owned by Hertz, the difference being that Hertz employees belong to the union and Dollar employees do not. Precious even upgraded my rental car to help compensate for the problem.
Cons: I booked my car for pick-up at 6 a.m. and the Dollar counter was scheduled to open at 6, yet when I arrived at 6 a.m. no one was there! I could not pick up the car because there was no agent at the counter. I waited for 45 minutes and still no one. I had a meeting scheduled and a long drive ahead of me. This is unacceptable!

Not what we reserved.
Cons: We reserved a car that was supposed to hold 5 people. There were only 4 of us, but the car was a Chevy Spark. It was not large enough for 4 adults and we had no choice but to upgrade. The upgrade, along with hidden fees was almost $100 more than we were expecting. I will not rent a car through Kayak.

Pros: Rented a small SUV for 5 days (Ford Escape). Great price and fit my needs perfectly. Check in was fast and easy
Cons: Late night drop off was a little messy - no one to meet cars and had to drop info at Budget counter so I didn't get a final receipt - no instructions that this is what needed to be done. MSP Car Rental location/setup is a bit confusing - nothing to do with Budget - just need better signs/directions

Did not accept my driver license!

Cons: Manager refused my temporary driver license from California although I provided official DMV documentation that it has been renewed. I rented at many places which had no issues except this one particular manager. She even went around different counters at rental center with different companies to tell them not to allow me to rent a car. I had a 2 hour drive from the airport for an important work related appointment. There was no way I could get there.

Cons: 1) Not an easy location to reach. 2) Customer service at pick-up was awful. I was the only person in line, and had to wait 15min to get my car. Especially frustrating as I saw multiple associates sit down and talk with each other while I waited. 3) The following was said to me as I waiting in-line, "Hey Gyp, has someone helped you?" First, calling someone "Gyp" is beyond unprofessional. Second, after asking that and saying "well someone will be by to help" and then sit 20ft away as I waited an additional 10 min is frustrating. 4) The cost was ridiculous. >$250 for a one-way trip, less than 24hr rental for an "intermediate" size car is a bit excessive. I could (should) have got a one way flight for similar price.

Cons: vehicle was very dirty, rental agreement was supposed to include taxes and fees but ended up with an additional $146.00 in taxes when i dropped off the vehicle at the airport in Denver. Original price was 307.00 ended up being over 530.00 with 2 additional driver fees and taxes

Pros: Nicely equipped car. Built in free GPS was nice
Cons: Stood in line for over an hour to pick up car. Only half of the counter positions were staffed. Wish they would give a true price, not add on charges and fees at the time of rental.

Not a bad experience
Cons: Agent who checked me in was not clear about pricing of upgraded options and made it seem like you had your pick of vehicles. I had to specifically ask if there would be a higher rate for some of the vehicles that were being offered. I felt they were purposely non-transparent about upgrade charges in an effort to get the upsell. When turning the vehicle in there was no one there to direct you on the return process

Cons: The people I talked on the phone at MSP airport gave me misleading and incorrect information regarding my return. I went to one terminal to return me car, they told me it was the incorrect location for my flight, and sent me to the other terminal. When I returned my car, there was no attendant, so I left it there. It turns out I was charge extra for returning the car at the wrong location. Thankfully, when I call Avis, they refunded the fee, but it all could have been avoided.

No Cars Available
Cons: Upon arriving for a confirmed 10AM pickup, we were told that there would be no cars available for two hours. Our first meeting was less than an hour away from beginning, so we were forced to cancel the car and use Uber for the duration of our trip. This was very disappointing.

Rented two large vans from Avis for a trip
Pros: the vans were clean
Cons: Pick up and drop off was terrible. Waited for over 1:45 hours to get the vehicles and drop off required me to go inside and wait in another line to check in the cars.

Pros: The car was clean and a joy to drive.
Cons: The people at the counter were slow. Check-in should be easy and quick, but had to go all the way into the terminal to the counter to hand in forms, and the guy really didn't know what he needed to do and what options I had selected. Hope I didn't pay too much.

Long line, dirty & smelly car, charged for fuel incorrectly
Pros: Charger R/T was fun car, liked having Apple Carplay
Cons: Long line to get car. Car was dirty inside and smelled. Was in a hurry so took anyway. Ended up spending money on a full service carwash to clean inside and help smell better. When returning the car I was charged for the fuel service option when I returned the car full. Had to wait again for someone to remove the fuel service charge from my bill.

Took over an hour and a half to get car
Pros: It was very affordable
Cons: It took forever for them to bring the car to valet. They said it would be right out but it took an hour for them to pull up the car.
