The location was within walking distance of downtown and the beach. I got room number 11, which has the best view looking towards the ocean. I could see a sliver of it. It is in a quiet neighborhood.
The room was a bit dated, no amenities, old fireplace which is hard to turn on/off. My biggest thing was not being able to control the temperature in the room. It went from one extreme to the other. I woke up at 3 am feeling very cold and there was no one as the front desk overnight. I couldn't sleep. The whole point was to be able to relax and get good rest but I was so cold. My second issue was a hair in the sink and some in the tub and bathmat. Gross! I can't believe housekeeping missed that. There was no coffee/tea in the room so I waited until the free breakfast which starts at 8am. I was there at 8:04 and there was a line of people waiting to make their waffles and there was a line for the toaster as well. All I got was some coffee, oj, an untoasted blueberry bagel and banana. Too many people, too crowded at breakfast! For the price I paid, I could've stayed in Monterey at a cheap motel. This was like a cheap motel but not cheap.
Location was very good - a couple block cos of Ocean Ave..
Requested a ground floor room but initially had an upper floor. Both my husband and I have mobility issues and finally, ended up with a lower floor which still required steps.
Location was great.
No fireplace in the room and room's location.
Lovely little place. Quaint. Lovely reception staff. No real issues at all. Worth the money for what is an expensive town!
Room smelled musty and dirty. Very weathered. It was a busy weekend in Carmel so we paid top dollar for a room that we didn't want to spend any time in.
