The staff was extremely friendly.
The bed was not comfortable.
Great attitude from front desk staff. Good offerings for breakfast: boiled eggs, yogurt, bananas, oatmeal, cereals, breads, waffles. Beds were comfortable. Our child had his own bedroom. Very charming and quiet.
The hotel is very dated but the front desk man says they are about to renovate all the rooms!
Incredibly nice ... 50 years ago
Location close to Carmel charms
Terrible bed(s) Horrific smells in room Breakfast was a joke WiFi did not work So unfortunate!
The location is excellent.
Similar to a Motel 6 but at about four times the cost.

Perfect location: next to downtown, but off the main streets enough for quiet and parking. Good value - not forced to pay extra for "frills" not really needed in Carmel.
Nice Stay Overall
John at the front desk was so sweet, helpful and nice. Give him a raise. Customer service at its finest. Overall, a decide price for a room in that area of Carmel. Close to lots of great shops and restaurants and the beach.
The guy at the front desk on Friday morning was much less pleasant. I had to ask for a receipt when I checked out. The pet fee ($35) is pretty high compared to other hotels nearby.
Friendly/Helpful Staff Complimentary wine from 4-6pm Comfortable room and bed - nothing "posh" but very adequate Slatted blinds over the windows Wall-mounted thermostat to control the gas fireplace Quiet, comfortable location with great laid back "energy" Breakfast better than many; not as good as others - but very adequate, and you get REAL plates, cups, glasses, and flatware!!
Linens and towels getting a bit on the thin side Really lightweight single ply toilet paper Limited parking
You get what you pay for.
Walking distance to shops and restaurants.
It was okay for one night, but very outdated.
Hotel is very cute and has a lot of character. The gardens are beautiful and easy to walk places.
We had problems with the heat. The first night it was not turning on and we were freezing. The owner fixed it but then it was over heating the following night and we had to to turn it off. They need to fix their thermostats.
Close access to downtown restaurants and shops. Nice breakfast.
No coffee in the room. Bathroom shelf restricted ability to fully access mirror. No vanity area with electrical outside of bath for women to blow hair etc to get ready.
Location, room size
Just like any other hotel or inn in Carmel it was a stones throw away from the center of town. Everything is within 10 minutes walking. Complimentary wine tasting was awesome for my girlfriend and I whom celebrated out 1 year anniversary.
The continental breakfast was lacking but there are many places to eat so it wasn't too much of a problem
What a comfortable, friendly little place. Nice breakfasts, great cheese and wine at 4pm, and everything clean, fresh, and welcoming.
being very very picky, no internet in our room (as it was slightly off the main Hotel, but the plus point on that was that it was a very big room), but we used the dining room....so it was barely an issue.
Great location and great price! Within walking distance of everything Carmel has to offer. Big room, free breakfast, and free wine/cheese @ 5pm - can't beat that!
Breakfast included as well as fireplace.
The building has charm, one of the three staff members was fabulous, location is walk to downtown,
Two of the three staff members were engrossed on the internet and with their child at key arrival and breakfast (high traffic) times. There was no hot water (luke warm) in the shower. The room was cozy queen but really a double bed.
The lady at the front desk ( don't remember her Jane sadly ) was so kind and attentive and really went out of her way to make us comfortable. Room was average a bit older, but clean and cute... The place is well kept and definitely worth the rate!!! Would stay here again without hesitating.
Our room was really large and quaint but it was cold ( November) and we had to use space heaters. Still well worth the room rate $65.
Friendly staff in a beautiful area
Walking distance of the town, beach and restaurants. The complimentary cheese and wine was a nice touch.
The staff were more than helpful when our daughter arrived to stay with us and we were switched to a family room with no problems whatsoever. With no extra cost to us.
Remarkably comfortable bed. Best sleep my wife and I have had in months. Spacious room. Gift basket on arrival. Free use of bicycles.
great choice! nice, comfy and romantic place. really cheap for what you get...breakfast is served in a very relaxing atmosphere.
