Well decorated and supplied with notable exceptions. Tapas bar offerings were exceptional.
No coffee in room. Had to go out in rain to another building for coffee. Outlets in bathroom did not work. Very noisy due to loud music playing late at night. Air conditioning hard to figure out or not working.
The noise - The lodge was very noisy. Difficult to sleep
The owners have really spent a great deal to make this a high class establishment. It has high end accommodation, but only of its type. The location and amenities are very good, although, again, of its type. Having good amenities on-site is a real plus and the grounds etc have been finished to a high standard. We were made to feel very welcome and the staff were excellent.
Basically, this isn't for us. I can't criticise the premises overall, but for us (65yo) this really isn't the accommodation and facilities we would normally go for. We stayed in one of the lodges, basically a high class tent. We would have loved this 30 years ago, so it is not their fault that we really didn't go for it 100% at our ages. There is no air conditioning, the toilet chamber is too small to use adequately if the door is closed and, worst of all for us, the tent is secured with two combination locks fastened at floor level. In the first place this means having to lie on the floor to secure the locks and, at night, means that visibility of the combination is severely restricted. Not a plus point with a bad back! The mosquitoes and horse flies were a serious nuisance. Finally, having a soft porn movie (50 Shades of Grey) on the lawn about 50m away wasn't what I expected at night, although it finished reasonably early. Unfortunately I cannot say the same for the jazz band about 80m away, which went on until 1.00am. The restaurants (we used both) are relatively expensive and the portion sizes way too big for us. The food is very good though.
I liked the lodge, food and facilities
Disappointed with the location. Very noisy being so close to the University and Stadium- really spotlit our stay. People were wandering around right near our lodge and looking through the windows at us. Felt unsafe as people could walk in and out of the complex and very close to our lodge. Also felt forgotten about and felt the staff on the sat and Friday nights prioritized people in the restaurant and people who were heading to the parties were more important than the lodge guests.
