Having to pay for breakfast. Having to pay for leasure centre. Pool. Sauna. No way. I've stayed all over the world. Never had to pay. The place is old post war concentration camp dump
Staff very present, rooms are clean and when requesting a certain location of a room it is given. If there are problems it is sorted.
Staff and rooms warm
the bedroom furniture was trashed the bed and mattress were well beyond sell by date pipes out side the room made a unbelievable racket my room number was 264 in fact the Trip Adviser comments where accurate i wont stay again i would of checked out if my stay had been over two nights. Found Memories of the Hotel it was years ago which bears no resemblance to its current condition
Plenty of parking and a half hour walk to town.
Wasn't clean. Rooms look nothing like they do in the pictures. We were only staying there for a short time but I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone.
Cobden hotel Reveiw
A clean hotel with friendly staff .
Just a little bit dated
Good and bad points
The location was good,. Easy access to busses. The reception staff on duty on Friday 7th and Saturday 8th were polite and friendly. The room was not cramped and was clean to start with. There was a room to leave luggage in after check out Plenty car parking
Wi Fi problem. It was going on and off. We have to keep putting our e mail address in to be connected then we eventually gave up. There was a mixed up with our 2nd night booking and for that reason our room was not cleaned, the bin was overflowing and there was no tea, coffee and sugar left for us to use . We had to share the tea bag and milk on Saturday eve and Sunday morning as we did not want to go down to the reception in our night cloths. There was no extension phone to contact the reception. The reception staff on Sunday pm was not friendly.
The full breakfast buffet was plentiful and ready on time.
The bed was too hard.
Don't expect luxury
Passable for the discounted £38 I paid so near to Christmas, but in no way worth the indicated price of £80.00
Room was tatty & outdated. Toilet cistern was hanging off the wall so whole thing rocked when you flushed, toilet seat was broken. Bathroom sink had a plug with a hole in it so impossible to fill the sink to wash. Hole in the bathroom ceiling had been patched up with a piece of wood that had been pained over to try & get it to match rest of ceiling. Strip light had been replaced with round halogen light leaving a strip of very old wallpaper where the original light had been. Would only recommend if you need somewhere last minute & you can get room discounted. Would NOT stay again.
The female receptionist was lovely
The rooms where unclean. The shower door jammed my child was stuck in there. The plug wouldn't come out of the sink for entire stay.
The hotel was very good value, bedroom was clean and I slept very well.
The hoitel could do with some updating, but was good for the money we paid. The breakfast was fine for the price, but the mushrooms were the worst I had ever eaten!
Lovely friendly affordable hotel
Room nice & clean but unfortunately heating didn't work properly (it was snowing while we were there!) and the TV signal scrambled all the time. The staff were very nice and it was fine for 1 night but probably would have been annying if we'd been staying longer. Health club sounded lovely but didn't have time to use it!
Inefficient heating and poor satellite tv reception.
location was the only good thing about this hotel, close to restaurants and city centre.
room smelt of smoke, supposed to be a non-smoking hotel. towels were dirty, room not clean, could do with redecorating.definitely not worth £70 a night. if you're looking for a good "quality" hotel do not stay here.
Reception staff responded quickly and efficiently to request for an alternative room as room 202 was so cold the bedding felt damp. Upgrade to Room 72 Family Room was generous and it was very warm and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was good and breakfast staff seemed much more organised and gave better service than evening staff (see below) - although both were very friendly.
Poor quality of food in restaurant. Too many staff did not seem to know what they were doing. Order for evening meal wrongly taken. Main course arrived before starter. Then clearly same main course had been reheated to serve (lukewarm) again later. We were not informed on booking that extensive reburshments/decorating taking place - stairs to Room 202 filthy, dust sheets were on carpets to and outside room - hazard - then the room itself was so cold, When asked Reception to do something about it we were initially given an inadequate small fan heater. Upon visiting Reception we were upgraded to better (and warmer) room.
The price of the room was reasonable and only a mile away from the city centre (Broad st). Staff were friendly
On the coldest night of the year so far our radiator was not working in our room and clearly wasnt working prior to our check in. Excuses were made to leave it 30min but we had already waitied 60mins for it to warm up and no go. Extra blankets were provided when we complained
The fact that ther disabled car park spaces were blocked by inconsiderate people. They were not pasrked IN the spaces, but in front of them.
we did'nt really have much timeto enjoy evrything like we wanted to use the swimming pool and all the other facilites but there was'nt enough time
Very pleasant and helpfull staff.
staff were really up for helping.
rooms were appalling. bed was okay but windows caked absolutely caked with black stuff and in my first room carpets that had tape all over them. In need of refurbishment. downstairs was okay.
poorly trained restuarant manager
Double bed was two single beds pushed together with double bed sheet over them and two single bed duvets
