The grounds. Dinner was good.
We did not like our room. The bedspread was dirty and the shear was torn. The room was much smaller than the picture ( tricky photography! )
Location. Restaurant not very good for the hype it gets.
We are from the US, so having a chance to stay at a real chateau was a treat. We made the booking last-minute and get the staff greeted us with friendliness and welcome. They were very patient with my broken French and spoke English when I didn’t understand. I am so glad we were able to eat at the restaurant, which has a Michelin star. Definitely one of life’s culinary highlights, with excellent, elegant service. In spite of the restaurant’s fine service we didn’t feel underdressed. The breakfast buffet the next morning was also delicious and the staff pleasant. The king-size bed was also spacious and comfortable. And I wish I had a bathing suit to enjoy the hot tubs and covered pool!
My only complaint is about the bathroom, and is probably not an issue in all rooms. There were only sheer curtains (albeit lovely white, floor-length ones that fluttered in the breeze), so if someone walked under the second-floor window at the right angle, all my bits were on display. The soaking tub was lovely, but there was no way to use the spray shower attachment without drenching the floor. We used almost all our towels, as well as a complimenting robe, mopping up the water. Luxury problems.
It was our first time staying in a chateau in France! We did enjoy it and it was very easy to relax there ! The evening meal was superb.
I thought it was overrated and overpriced! Our bedroom was at the upper part which was difficult at times with the staircase And the darknesses! Also the beams in the bedroom were very close to the bed ! The room was small ! The service was poor enough on one morning ! We were left waiting for a while before I went to reception ! Yes definitely pricey for the “chateau experience “
