Comfortable room, great location. Looks better than in pictures. Huge TV screen (I never seen one like that in Hotel, at least in Europe usually they provide small screens), still I didn't really use it.
Checkout is until 12:00PM, I had a "Do not disturb" card outside the door, still some stuff started banging my door at 11:40AM, when I was technically going out of a shower. It was uncomfortable and unexpected. Room door is not really soundproof. You easily hear if there's something going on in a corridor (but nonetheless, night was silent, and I had a comfortable sleep) I was charged an extra $20 for earlier check-in (it was confirmed with me upfront), This I guess is normal in US, while (speaking from my experience) in Europe you get this normally for free, assuming they have a room ready by then.
The amenities were great. I loved having the small kitchen.
I stayed there for a week and they booked me right next to several rooms under rennovation. During the daytime construction workers were yelling across the hall and accidentally knocked on my door several times thinking it was one of the rooms they were supposed to work on.
Location near Congress Bridge and and 6th St.
Construction noise at 830am. Champions Sports Bar greasy, dirty, smelly at breakfast. No gym or pool usage due to construction.
The Residence Inn Austin Downtown is in the heart of downtown and makes for an unbeatable central location to explore all Austin has to offer. The recently remodeled room was spacious, clean and comfortable. All hotel staff were friendly, knowledgeable and engaging. The included breakfast was above average and included a nice variety of options to help get the day off to a good start.
The credit card authorization hold charge this hotel placed upon check-in lasted much longer than usual. For most properties, the hold charge is removed from the credit card within 24 hours of check out. The Residence Inn hold charge remained on my card for ten full days after check out.
Breakfast options though simple were very well rounded. Also thought the location was perfect for young people wanting to explore the city nightlife as Rainey street is just a 6 min walk away, 6th street is a 2 minute walk away, and West 6th is only a 6 minute walk away.
Parking fees were pretty steep for both self park and valet. Would avoid taking your car if at all possible.
